I am 75 and have been bowling for ten years, three weeks ago I switched to two handed bowling. Your videos have been very helpful and I am having lots of fun making the change. I have already had several 200 games. It’s never too late to try something new!
Excellent content of course! On the topic of slow mo videos, I started my two handed journey doing exactly what you’re saying not to do and it took me a while to discover why I wasn’t getting consistent. Once I realized everyone is different and it’s near impossible to imitate a pro, I started to pay more attention to what everyone had in common, why they were doing that, and what is the ball doing throughout the approach. Once I started paying attention to those areas, I discovered my form started changing drastically and my consistency increased significantly! My current form is no where close to what my form was starting out during my two handed journey!
I started to pay more attention to what everyone had in common, why they were doing that, and what is the ball doing throughout the approach. => Jesus Christ! let me give you a hug bro. I do the same thing just like you. I watch everybody bowl and find what they have in common.
I'm 64 and started bowling about 7 months ago. I was having trouble getting revs with one hand and couldn't get my average above 154. I ran across your channel and watched most of your vidioes and decided to try two hands. My first two games were a 169 and a 177. I was pumped and striking a lot more. Now my average is around 170 and I'm told that's good for only 7 months of actual bowling. I found this video and I'm going to try your theories out. I really like your video's and how you present them in a kind of scientific way. Makes a lot a since to me! I'll keep you posted on my progress!! And keep pumping out those video's!!!
I’m 62 and have been an avid left handed bowler with good success over the past 40+ years. I have been losing power naturally over the years. I decided to practice two handed this summer. Your video was very helpful and I think I may bowl two handed this fall. Thanks.
I'm glad I ran across this video. I read through a few of these comments and I can relate. You did an excellent job of explaining what I experience when trying this technique and I plan to try again with your insights. Subscribed.
I’m grateful for the compliments Peter. All I want is to help as many bowlers bowl well in a short time and enjoy the game as possible. There will be more than these videos. Stay tuned 😃
Thank you for making this video. I have trouble keeping my balance right at the end when releasing the ball resulting in an arm swing that is just too slow. I use a 4-step approach and will try to do that little skip step I see you doing. Maybe that will give me that extra speed I need. I am 57 and started bowling about 10 years ago. The first 2-3 years I bowled one-handed and then switched to two-handed. This is a young man's game, but I'm trying. It was easier to keep my arm straight and follow through playing one-handed. My two-handed arm swing tends to go out -- away from my body -- instead of in (that is my elbow) and my swing is not that fast because of a lack of leg speed, and I also slow up my swing because I'm trying to hit my target and that hesitation causes me to slow down.
This is a young man's game, but I'm trying. => Believe it or not, my honor to have your comment here sir. At 57 years old, you still open your mind and adapt yourself to the modern game. I hope my current and upcoming videos can help you enjoy the game :D
Going to try and really think about the 2nd mindset next time I bowl. It looks like I'm dropping the ball or just pushing the ball instead of rolling it
One issue I found was that making the transfer to two handed bowling you must remember to use two hands to throw the ball to generate speed and the correct roll. Later you release it with more a one hand dominate but at first make sure you follow through with two hands.
I have another video talking about using the 2nd hand during the 2 handed release. It’s super important ua-cam.com/video/y1XPpSw3I1c/v-deo.htmlsi=4iX9D6qRIT1k7Wyo Please check it out
My ball speed struggled 2 handed until I straightened out my arm in the backswing and got the ball back farther up and used more gravity to help me bring the ball down. 50% rule is a good rule of thumb but the farther back and up you can get the ball in the backswing the faster your gonna throw it. I was struggling to hit 12mph before and now I’m regularly at 17mph. Just need to control it after you add that much speed 2. yo-yo people use to describe the 1 handed release doesn’t work well for a good 2 hander because your hand is always in the best spot to generate revs, on the bottom 3/4s of the ball so why try and move your wrist from that spot mid swing when you can just take your front hand off and rip up the back of the ball to control the hook? More hook rip harder less hook make it smoother
Precious feedback. Thank you brother. The straightened arm swing in 2 handed bowling has been a myth for a long time. I haven't been able to master it but I still don't reject it. Maybe I need more time to understand my body during the backswing. It's a good news that you have increases your ball speed by straightening your armsswing :D
@@BowlismOutlaw I've bowled thumb in one handed for two decades and made the switch a couple summers ago due to a wrist injury as squeezing the ball was a problem I could never fix. At first I tried two handed but it was straining my back too much. Which led me to the no thumb one handed style. Switching to this form did bring back the passion in bowling for me but the last couple years has been a up and down battle trying to relearn my physical and mental game. From going to a slow straight bowler to a slow cranker now lol. Atleast I don't need to play with thumb tape anymore 😂
Oh such a great story behind it! Let me take a few more questions Do you have injuries with your back before? Do you manage to carry the ball without thumb comfortably? (How many lbs does your ball weigh?)
@@BowlismOutlaw I don't have any real injuries to my back, just the typical tightness and soreness on the lower back. I always stretch for an hour at home before I bowl. I don't usually have issues holding the ball and I use 14lbs. My typical issues is slow speed, timing and consistency. Still maintaining 191 avg in both leagues but the short patterns are killing me lol
@raymah7 your case is quite unique. I should think about this style and make some experiments. This is a Korean bowler who also plays your style instagram.com/reel/C1D9I7mPN_L/?igshid=ZWI2YzEzYmMxYg==
This is also a common problem for bowlers with this kind of physique. Yes, the tummy makes your swing shorter, that's why you have to move quicker with your feet and stand closer to the foul line. You can check-out this guy, he's also a 2 handed bowler with big tummy instagram.com/bowling_fnp/
dont have to imitate a pro, but you definitely gotta stop moving ur head so much during downswing and release, it seems like u snap your head to your left
@BowlismOutlaw He's right. Every coach stresses less headmovement throughout your entire release. One reason coaches love Prather is he has very minimal head movement.

Dear oh dear, sir at 75 I do appreciate your passion for bowling! I'm only half of your age now. I'm so happy to hear that my videos helps
So glad to hear someone say forget about the cup/uncupping at release
Ahhhhh yes, the cup/uncupping at release concept has ruined many bowlers' life 😂 This is totally a misconception.

I too am in my mid-50s and too feel the same as you. I plan to give this method another shot with the insights from this video.
thanks for this!
Thanks for dropping a comment Mike. That just makes my day ;)

hum.....pushing is no good bro. I'm not sure how you drop the ball.

Can i do 2 hander with thumb?
Yes, please make sure you can release the thumb 👍. Wesly Low use 2 handed woth thumb style.
Would you ever make tutorial videos on no thumb one hand form? Thx 🙏
To my imagination, this style looks like 1 handed style without thumb. What motivated you to learn this style bro?

So many different opposing theroies on two handed bowling so far.
Yes, that's why 2 handed bowling is still in its early age :D Not many people truly know what it really is and how to easily adopt this style!
I used to bowl 2 handed. But my tummy is too big so its difficult for me to swing all the way back

raw doggin that floor wit dem toes
What do you mean bro?
u weird asf
dont have to imitate a pro, but you definitely gotta stop moving ur head so much during downswing and release, it seems like u snap your head to your left
It seems like u snap your head to your left => Bro, what is the effect of this movement?
@@BowlismOutlaw you tell me

@kridicalxsi1177 uhm…I know why people say that. Let me consider if it affects my performance during the practice.
Bro, thanks to your comment, I made some adjustments 😁instagram.com/reel/C0654rrvH4g/?igshid=ZWI2YzEzYmMxYg==
Big lie. It’s VERY DIFFERENT & VERY HARD!
I'm here to support. What's the problem bro? Keep calm and tell me, please.
