Just an FYI... To make HMC SOI you use coolie hat down. Recent changed from coolie hat up twice. (As of April 2021 update) Thanks for all of these tutorials, nicely done!
It also makes sense, Left is left MFD, right is right MFG, up is the HUD which is ahead of you down (aft) is pointing at you, the pilot, which refers to your HMCS
This new system makes me ten times more effective in the Hog. I always had trouble just finding targets with the Tpod unless you fly right at them to line up the cueing which becomes clumsy really fast and makes you prime target for SAMS. Getting a feel for this system gives you an idea of why the F35 is so deadly compared to other platforms with all its sensors and integration.
Along with the same update that added the mavs in the F-16. I’m really going to hit my stride. When I fly again. Sorry meatspace has my attention right now
The TAD and Marks is the greatest friend for rough targeting Remember the A10C is an air support frame, not a strike aircraft, JTAC, troops, wings and other friendly elements as well as the tactical situation is how you would know where target where, you aren't meant to find them alone
As I've described this particular platform of the Internet, it does seem the world's largest encyclopedia; entire semester's worth of formal education in any field a click away :) Haven't seen the guy's newer installments in long time, but........ I initially checked out a 3D Studio MAX training video, then noticed he'd done about 20 more pretty advanced installments on it. Then noticed he'd made dozens of expert videos in each of some other subjects such as database management, chemistry, and other such diverse and somewhat esoteric subjects. Seriously, the dude probably weighed 150 lbs but had 10x his weight in knowledge :) And there's probably hundreds more around like that.
Good job of discussing the symbology and functions. However labor intensive especially if you're being fired upon by Stingers as a example. But you won't be bored traveling to your assigned area.
Now I understand why the US is not that keen on creating new aircraft. Upgrading anything existing with this system improves it by orders of magnitudes in effectiveness. Amazing!
My recollection, albeit sketchy at times, of the HMCS technology's debut comes from the Clint Eastwood film "Firefox", about an extremely advanced helicopter pretty much built around the first-ever helmet-mounted display for targeting :) It was soon after that the helmet-mounted display was realized with the debut of the F-16 Falcon. They should have named it after Clint :)
Firefox was a plane ("MiG 31"), not a helicopter. Plus the plane's "gimmick" in the film was that you could basically control the plane's sensors/weapons/countermeasures by thought. Not sure if you could actually fly/steer it with your thoughts, too. Been a while since I watched the movie.
1990's: holographic symbols outside the HUD were considered arcade. 2020's: It turns out that all these arcade sims were closer to reality than the hardcore sims.
Hi there, this video is kind of outdated. The TMS functions for the HMCS aren't the same in game regarding markpoints and the other functions. Same goes with the coolie switch to select the HMCS. Right now it's up short for the HUD and down short for the HMCS. Maybe topics for a new video? I'm really excited to learn more about the A-10C!
Great video, Cap. The A-10 is very interesting but I feel if one does not fly it every day it is really hard to master it. The curse of too many modules and too few green buttons..
If you want to be historically accurate then you would need to fly the A-10A as the "C" upgrade happened in 2005-2007, 15 years after Desert Storm took place Yes I am fun at parties...
Most of the systems seem complicated at first, the basic premise of the A-10C is to make an SPI on your target and then release weapons unto that SPI. The reason it seems so complicated is the same reason the A-10C is awesome and that is; that you have so many options, type it in, lase it, get guided, mark it will you use a direct CCIP strike or a safer CCRP strike are you going to use munitions or "just" the almighty BRRRTT. Makes it seem complicated, but it's mostly one step away from "point and click", it's "slew, mark, and release "
Great tutorial. Note a significant bug at the moment regarding the HDC in openbeta: forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/digital-combat-simulator/dcs-a-10c-ii-tank-killer/bugs/7134041-reported-hmcs-mark-point-always-created-at-center-not-at-hdc Very inconvenient, but hopefully fixed soon.
It’s a highly advanced version of the ping system on COD WARZONE! 🤣 but in all seriousness that’s a sweet bit of kit, can’t wait to see it used in anger by the #DAPPERCAPPER #REAPERS
Hi Cap, great informative video. Especially considering the complexity of this system alone (I consider the A-10C the most complex module in the game). Question, in the video you describe broadcasting SPI over the SADL. I know how to do that, but how do you do a private broadcast?
Just an FYI...

thx i was wondering why i could get that to work

I seem to learn a new thing from every youtubers video - good job, great pace.

need to go collage to learn it brilliant video sir great teacher what a amazing system
Just as you think you really understand and 'master' this aircraft this update comes along :D
thanks for the vid Cap

US is not keen on new aircraft? Who gave you that idea?
This video was decisive for me to buy this module. Thanks!

Thanks Cap, I might actually become effective in an A-10 with this model.
Thank you sir this will tak awhile to figure it all out but at least ill give your video a hundred views :0

its almost like all this video gamers from the 1990s grew up to develop the new weapon systems
Very helpful, Cheers!

The curse of too many modules and too few green buttons..
The Coolie switch has been changed so that Coolie Down sets SOI to the HMD. Double tapping Coolie Up does nothing now.
I have tried recentering the tgp and it will not recenter. I a solid set of crosshairs when I hid the c key and hold it. Any recommendations?
Following
I struggle recentering my TGB. It used to be CH Aft L, but in the II somehow the LSS gets activated by this command?!?
I want to make a point with HMCS, so I Control the Slew key, DMS and TMS key, but it only works in TAD.. How to use cursor in HMCS?
I am having problems. I am very new. For some reason I can only move around the cockpit and zoom during training. If I do anything else it didn’t work
Press alt+c
Dang that's really nice. Really wish I had dcs
My HDC does not create a Mark(TMS R s) but it always creates the mark at my Crosshair. Did i miss something?
is it possible to change definitions so when new mark point is created it will still keep the previouse ones (like within TAD) ?
O just got to the answer :) (09:20)
so to get the a10c II do u have to buy it again or does it come with the og a10c
It's full price if you don't have the original A10-c. And also currently beta - it only works in the beta version of DCS.
its on sale for $10 for those that currently own the a10c, price will then go up to $24. those that dont own it will have to pay $79 i think
A DESERT STORM MISSION would be interesting...

Tanks

Yes I am fun at parties...
Hi, I tried to rebuild your Mission. I have one problem. My frendly groundforces don´t singt with an x. Do you have any Idea? Best Regards Cotice
Yes. They must be equipped in mission editor with EPLRS, only some units have that type of radio. Try M1A1s
Well explained, Christ it seems complicated lol
Its actually really easy, this video Just makes it seems very complicated

I do have a SADL tutorial in the A-10C playlist :)

could be possible in the future to see enemies aircraft in the datalink?
Not that we are aware of.
