WOW This is the first time I see homemade nutella being made like this! I thought you just had to put the hazelnuts in the food processor and process it like crazy until it turn creamy then add the coco and blend again the sh*t out of it. (My food processor died doing it just once) P.D. This is f-ing awesome!
His name is Tuna! He's not mine, but I love him so much! He was "saved" from the shelter by a sweet girl. None wanted him :c because of his weak bite. Now he's loved and happy! o(≧▽≦)o
I agree - I was shocked to see him boil the nuts - that dilutes the flavor. Well, everyone has their spin on things. I'll stick to the other way - toast nuts and blend until you get a smooth butter. I guess you can get rid of the hazelnut skin to make it smooth, but I like the toasty flavor the skin adds to it.
If you find the texture to grainy (Even though that's the beauty of this recipe) Here's a tip: After cooking the nuts, separate the nuts and the liquid (don't get rid of the liquid!) and puree the nuts in a food processor until smooth while incorporating the liquid a little at a time. Same taste, different consistency. ;) ALSO: I thought I was the only one who paired Apples and Nutella. Glad to know that I am a little less weird. :')
The best homemade Nutella recipe I've seen so far!! The best part is that you can limit the amount of sugar and everything else! Thank you so much for the idea 🙌 God bless!
Ive been making this exact same recipe (minus the dash of salt at the end) for years and years! Its my all time fav! I love it on apples and on top of icecream!
Try this: put your hazelnuts in the processor, then add the brown sugar til it's all creamy. add a little bit of cocoa powder and then dark chocolate. put some hazelnut milk in it and let cook for about 15 minutes. - 120 gr hazelnuts (with no skin) - 120 gr brown sugar (or less) - 20 gr cocoa powder - 140 gr dark chocolate - 200 gr hazelnut milk
Is the "dark chocolate" in your recipe a powder, or dark chocolate chips that get pureed in the blender? I'd love to try making a chocolate hazelnut spread that would taste smooth, rich, and chocolatey, but would have more cocoa and milk powder, and less sugar, compared to store-bought Nutella.
Someone may have already said this but using blacked Nuys (no skins) will make your final product smoother. Also, use a food processor and blend the nuts until they release their oils and it will turn smooth without needing extra liquid.
After the spread is made and you have it in the mason jars, do you refrigerate them until use? Freeze them? Are they shelf stable? How long can they be stored without it going bad?
I really like your recipes, they seem delicious but also healthy! :) I watched other Nutella recipes and usually there is a lot of butter. Your seems much better.
You simmer the nuts!!! Mine has always been too coarse of a texture-- never thought of cooking the nuts in water. Looking forward to trying this. Thank you!
I only recently tried Nutella for the first time. I don't care for the hazelnut flavor and thought it would be too hazelnutty tasting. Boy, was I wrong! I only tried one of those little snack cups and it's a good thing because I could see it being addictive. Can you update the recipe to reflect the complete ingredient list - including hazelnuts and I believe you also mentioned almonds too.
ByronTalbott No vanilla used? Nutella has Vanillin which is artificial but I figure using real vanilla extract will enhance the flavor a bit? Still, thanks for the video, I will try it out and adjust to my taste accordingly.
Be careful, it sure is addicting! I bought a 35oz jar on Sam's Club to last me the summer and I've already ate 1/4 of it. I will definitely gain some belly fat but since I barely eat any sweets I say its worth it haha.
That induction stove top is love. I never had a thought for it when seeing it in your videos-except when wondering why you never use the 4 burner stovetop above your oven. And then I got to use my aunt's induction stovetop. Damn, was it amazing! Now I know why you primarily use your induction stovetop (video recording opportunities, notwithstanding), and now I gotta get one. Thanks for the link, and thanks for the recipe!
If I use extreme self-control, I can maybe make a jar of Nutella last a week. But a MONTH? That'll be the year that it snows in Miami on the 4th of July.
I'm thinking after toasting the nuts, let them cool and pulverize them in a high powered blender or coffee mill until a silky smooth powder. Then back in a pot for liquids and chocolate. That might resolve the graininess.
Love it! Would love to try this at home! Thank you for sharing! I know some of the viewers said buy one is cheaper than make by urself. But to know what's in there I think is important to me. So I would like to try this. Thank you again!
Great stuff! A couple of tips: you will get a better flavor result if you remove the hazelnut skins before you cook them because they contain bitter tannins. Also, you will get a better texture result if you conch it a bit (12 hours or so) in a wet mill, like Indian cooks do for dosa batter.
i'm always looking for yummy foods to give away as gifts, this is a win for sure. i used mason jars and added decorative ribbons with a high quality hand written labels. it was a hit!!!
Just made this recipe last night. Follow ingredients measurements exactly. Except the kosher salt. I only added one TB and the taste product was salty maybe a pinch of salt can still enhance flavor but 2 tb it's a little too much. I love the consistency and ingredients I'll definitely try to make this again.
You said it is grainier then nutella. Do you think perhaps putting it through a fine sieve might make it a smoother product? Great video. Thanks for sharing.
I believe he used a mixture of various nuts (hazelnuts, almonds, peanuts) so maybe in the 1/4cup ammount you can use whichever nuts you want (those are my toughts)
Apple + Nutella = the food of the Gods. Since apples are supposed to be nutritious, and "good for you", they provide a way to eat Nutella - which is basically just a candy bar in a jar, with little or no nutritional value - without so much guilt.
Your Nutella has a bit more runny consistency than I'd want it to be but it tastes perfect. Thank you for a nice recipe, Byron. The best homemade Nutella I've ever made (and I've made a few). PS. I used 3/4 cup brown sugar (the spread is sweet enough for me) and added 1/4 cup whole dried milk to thicken the mixture a little bit.
Love Nutella and can't wait for a week of awesomeness!! I've always eat to try Nutella in cake form or use it as the frosting for a cake. My only problem is that it might be too rich & how would I go about cutting down that richness?
I substituted brown sugar with sweet dates and substituted some chocolate 🍫 with carob powder and clove powder, so light and yet wholesome ( any water in the recipe I substituted with cinnamon tea)
Please don't assume that by me saying my last comment, that I don't enjoy your videos. I certainly do enjoy 99% of them so thank you very much for posting these videos, they are very helpful.
i ve tried this recipe and it is very nice, but i would not say "almost identical" to nutella, cuz it is actually very different. this might be even better (you can have control, make variations with vanilla, sugar, coconut, almonds etc) but not identical.
It's okay to leave it to cool down, but the purpose of doing so while it's still hot is because when you add in the chocolate it helps melt it. Other wise you could just microwave the mixture when you're putting the chocolate in. :) I hope this helps, good luuuck :)
Amazing! By the way, can I get measurements of nuts, chocolates, cocoa powder, and sugar? Is peanuts possible as substitute to hazelnut? We don't have hazelnuts in the Philippines.. thanks for sharing your recipes...
Can you please make a description on how you are making the nutella and maybe write it in g too ?? because I am living in Denmark and we dont use "cups" over here, and because I am having some diffuculties on making it.
If you go to google and type for instance "1 cup to grams" it will give you the answer. It's inconvenient but I've done the reverse before and it works out well.
This looks delicious! I think every week should be nutella week :)
no!
Apples, bananas, cakes, cupcakes, frosting, Nutella is just my absolute favorite!
Wow this would make a GREAT Christmas basket addition to like some fruits, candles and wine. Great idea!
WOW This is the first time I see homemade nutella being made like this! I thought you just had to put the hazelnuts in the food processor and process it like crazy until it turn creamy then add the coco and blend again the sh*t out of it. (My food processor died doing it just once)
P.D. This is f-ing awesome!
HAHAHAHAHA. Your comment just made my night. I literally thought the same thing.
LOOOOOL Thanks for the laugh!
I'd like to add that your profile pic is everything, adorable!
His name is Tuna! He's not mine, but I love him so much! He was "saved" from the shelter by a sweet girl. None wanted him :c because of his weak bite. Now he's loved and happy! o(≧▽≦)o

The best homemade Nutella recipe I've seen so far!! The best part is that you can limit the amount of sugar and everything else! Thank you so much for the idea 🙌 God bless!
nuts being the base ingredient makes it more awesome. i love hazelnuts and almonds. thanks for making this video. you're so great!
Ive been making this exact same recipe (minus the dash of salt at the end) for years and years! Its my all time fav! I love it on apples and on top of icecream!
Never really thought to make Nutella myself... not sure why but wow! Definitely going to make some this weekend! Thanks for sharing, B!
Love your version, I usually can’t eat the real stuff it’s way to sweet for me! Love this recipe, thank you, love your channel!!
I would love to see your take on fried green tomatoes. The perfect summer time comfort food. :)
Whatttt!?!! Nutella week!!! My diet just went straight to hell
This is so amazing. The recipe is so simple. I love all your videos.
Try this: put your hazelnuts in the processor, then add the brown sugar til it's all creamy. add a little bit of cocoa powder and then dark chocolate. put some hazelnut milk in it and let cook for about 15 minutes.
- 120 gr hazelnuts (with no skin)
- 120 gr brown sugar (or less)
- 20 gr cocoa powder
- 140 gr dark chocolate
- 200 gr hazelnut milk
Is the "dark chocolate" in your recipe a powder, or dark chocolate chips that get pureed in the blender? I'd love to try making a chocolate hazelnut spread that would taste smooth, rich, and chocolatey, but would have more cocoa and milk powder, and less sugar, compared to store-bought Nutella.
LAURENCE CHARLOT I think she means melted chocolate, makes more sense ;)
LAURENCE CHARLOT Samar Masmoudi
yes, i'm sorry :) chocolate bar :) not chips
Missrobiii thats a great recipe for nutella! :)
This looks like the best nutella recipe I've seen! Super smart to put almonds in it
Oh my gosh. No words. Too excited. Nutella week is gonna be freakin amazing.
Salad week for summer!
Looks good! I love Nutella.
Could you do some summer salad recipes?
Someone may have already said this but using blacked Nuys (no skins) will make your final product smoother. Also, use a food processor and blend the nuts until they release their oils and it will turn smooth without needing extra liquid.

Really great recipe, I will have to try it. My blender does NOT like dry-blending, and I almost broke it doing that, so this is perfect.
I really like your recipes, they seem delicious but also healthy! :) I watched other Nutella recipes and usually there is a lot of butter. Your seems much better.
Im a big nutella lover, this week is going to be amazing! Thank you for sharing this recipe!
This is such a great and healthy(/ier) alternative to nutella which has lots of bad stuff in it. Such a brilliant video. Thank you xxxx
Nutella tastes like childhood. My favourite is a slice of fresh bread with a spoonful of Nutella all over it. It's just heaven.
The recipe is updated. Sorry for the ingredient issue. Thanks for watching!

Lpedraja2002 - haha! That's why I haven't bought more of it - I know me very well! I don't need anymore belly fat!!
Lpedraja2002 Well , he did mentioned 'You can add vanilla if u want' right ?
That induction stove top is love. I never had a thought for it when seeing it in your videos-except when wondering why you never use the 4 burner stovetop above your oven. Thanks for the link, and thanks for the recipe!
store it for a month??? those jars wont last a day in my hands
I'd probably store it for a month or two. :)
then u should ask ur self r u a nutella-holic?
If I use extreme self-control, I can maybe make a jar of Nutella last a week. But a MONTH? That'll be the year that it snows in Miami on the 4th of July.
LAURENCE CHARLOT I could make a jar of Nutella last even three, or four months. Maybe five.
M Same.
I'm thinking after toasting the nuts, let them cool and pulverize them in a high powered blender or coffee mill until a silky smooth powder. Then back in a pot for liquids and chocolate. That might resolve the graininess.
Omg I need to make this! My favorite pairing is with pretzel sticks! Excited for Nutella week!
oh my, those apple slices. looked so fresh and crisp.
The apples he used looked like Fuji
Super excited for this week I love nutella!
that actually looks so much better than the store bought ones. Great job Byron!
Hey, when blending the nuts, I recommend blending it in batches so it is easier to make it smother. :)
My grandma actually makes an apple nutella, it's like thicker apple sauce with cocoa kind of spread and it's absolutely delicious, my childhood! haha
Cannot wait to try this! Thank you so much for sharing it, Byron.
Ive seen so many types of homemade nutella, and i think this one is the best. I'll give it a try. :)
I love it !
there is no fat or oil or anything bad in it
Nutella Is A Blessing!!! This is d Best Video Ever!
I love this recipe! !! Thank you for sharing this amazing recipe!!! I will try to make this nutella!! This looks healthier than selling products!!
Love it! Would love to try this at home!
Thank you for sharing! I know some of the viewers said buy one is cheaper than make by urself. But to know what's in there I think is important to me. So I would like to try this. Thank you again!
Love this! I need to make it and give the mason jars full of homemade nutella as gifts!
Great stuff! A couple of tips: you will get a better flavor result if you remove the hazelnut skins before you cook them because they contain bitter tannins. Also, you will get a better texture result if you conch it a bit (12 hours or so) in a wet mill, like Indian cooks do for dosa batter.
I am so going to make some and put it in a mason jar like you did, then give it to my husband as a little gift for our anniversary.
I love that there's no added oil in this recipe, a very unique one!
I'm making this recipe this weekend! Looks delicious.
can you also make cookie butter?
Thank you Byron, as always another wonderful recipe!
i'm always looking for yummy foods to give away as gifts, this is a win for sure. i used mason jars and added decorative ribbons with a high quality hand written labels. it was a hit!!!
Hi! love your video, more healthy than others ive seen.. Just wondering how long it lasts in jars?
Just made this recipe last night. Follow ingredients measurements exactly. Except the kosher salt. I only added one TB and the taste product was salty maybe a pinch of salt can still enhance flavor but 2 tb it's a little too much. I love the consistency and ingredients I'll definitely try to make this again.
Thank you so much I made them but added 2 tablespoons of milk powder it's amazing!!
Just made a variation of this with bacon and honey and trust me IT IS AMAZING!
I love Nutella with strawberries omg it's amazing! 😍😍
Yummy yummy yummy : ) would this work in a not so powerful blender?
Best nutella recipe ive seen on youtube!
You are AMAZING!!! This Nutella recipe is great! Can't wait to see what you create with it :D
Nutella cheesecake would be a good video idea!!!! Love your channel
Thank you for this video! You make it look so easy to make nutella :) can you please tell me what brand of blender you're using?
Can you make a video on how to make crepes with Nutella or your fav filling pretty please
You said it is grainier then nutella. Do you think perhaps putting it through a fine sieve might make it a smoother product? Great video. Thanks for sharing.
hey,how come your recipe below only says peanuts? no amount on hazelnuts,or the almonds??
No he only has peanuts listed-He had Hazelnuts and almonds in the pan-THOSE amounts are not listed!
I believe he used a mixture of various nuts (hazelnuts, almonds, peanuts) so maybe in the 1/4cup ammount you can use whichever nuts you want (those are my toughts)
i updated the recipe.. I don't know why it didn't save my info when i uploaded the video. Thanks for watching!
Carolina Soria See the recipe Byron updated the recipe and wrote back to me -I was correct -he forgot some items accidentally! It looks so good
ByronTalbott Thanks for responding -a couple of peeps thought I was in the wrong- My hubby love Nutella~Thanks
I can tell this is going to be one of my fav channels! new subbie! :) x
What I love is melting a little bit of Peanut Butter mixed with Nutella so it's a little more runny and dip bananas in it. Soooo good
Your voice is so soothing. I love watching your videos. :)
Apples and Nutella? I've gotta say that's the first time I've seen that pairing.
Same
Rest assured, I tried it immediately after the video and now my life has changed forever :3
Apple + Nutella = the food of the Gods. Since apples are supposed to be nutritious, and "good for you", they provide a way to eat Nutella - which is basically just a candy bar in a jar, with little or no nutritional value - without so much guilt.
Nutella is wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
Your Nutella has a bit more runny consistency than I'd want it to be but it tastes perfect. Thank you for a nice recipe, Byron. The best homemade Nutella I've ever made (and I've made a few).

Yummy! You rock ByronTalbott . This is.just.what I needed..
Never fails! You are awesome!!!! On my list of Byron's Recipes to try....:)
NUTELLA WEEK! SIMPLY THE BEST!
I would love to see a nutella brownie or maybe nutella pankakes! :)
This week is going to be my favorite one! I love nutella!!!
OMG! so excited to try this out! i can eat a whole bottle of Nutella in a day!
Is it possible if I can put the nuts into a food processor first then toast them? Or would the results be different?
I really want to know where you got your wooden spoon from!!! BTW love your videos, very inspirational! :)
I've tried a lot of chocolatecspread recipes for my kids but never been good. I will try this one and see if it's children approved😁 Thank you
omg you have outdone yourself!!
You are the king of perfection!
Apple and Nutella is so good c: o had it in Spain once. Delicious
Please make a video on nutella mousse!!
If you were to use a conche to make the mixture smoother, would you recommend doing it before or after you add the chocolate or would it not matter?
Please don't assume that by me saying my last comment, that I don't enjoy your videos. I certainly do enjoy 99% of them so thank you very much for posting these videos, they are very helpful.
Dark chocolate with 60% or more cocoa is healthy too. Along with unsweetened cocoa powder. You could actually make this really healthy too.
Brilliant and easy never saw it homemade before
i ve tried this recipe and it is very nice, but i would not say "almost identical" to nutella, cuz it is actually very different. this might be even better (you can have control, make variations with vanilla, sugar, coconut, almonds etc) but not identical.
Can you use milk instead of water when cooking the nuts?
Hi there. Is it OK to leave the nut liquid mix to cool down first before blending it? Thanks!
You're like my definition of the perfect man. Rachel is lucky and awesome recipe btw!:)
Oh my gosh, that looks heavenly!! I can't wait for the cheesecake recipe! =]
You should do #fruitweek or a different types of drinks like milkshakes and smoothies #drinkweek
Love apples with nutella! And banana as well of course :)
i love you after showing me how to make a healthy nutella(no butter , oil) greeting from morocco
I add nutella to my oatmeal. I've got to make this...homemade is always the best!
