Smells like a fresh, creamy, vanilla soap...I love it, the ladies love it...Its a 10 in my book !

Fresh? Smells very warm and spicy to me.
Even though I got into fragrances a year ago and have around 60 plus bottles niche and designer. This is one of my favorites. I know people say this fragrance is overrated but for good reason. I don't feel like there is anything that compares to this type of scent. I get amazing projection and longevity from this. Atleast 6 feet on first spray for a hour and then 3 feet at the 2nd hour but it literally lasts 14 plus hours on me. I can wear it sometimes, sleep and wake up and I can still get a whiff of it
always get compliments when I wear this! out of all my colognes this is the one I get complimented on the most! people say its overrated or everyone has it, I say no everyone has moved on to one million or creed aventus! I've had an older woman tell me to keep wearing it because it is a treat! lol

Hey Guys, I really enjoy your presentations. In my opinion your counted among the best in the Online Fragrance Community. JPG Le Male is one of my favorites. The ladies really love it. I'm having to get used to the added attention JPG Le Male garners. Thanks guys and keep up the great work.

I have a bottle and it last about 4 hours on a piece of paper and my skin. Maybe I have a bad bottle but I get little projection that no one ever notices.
After spraying I smell mainly bitter mint and lavender, after 1-2 hours the mint luckily goes away and a nice woody patchouli scent comes through. I would guess there is more patchouli than lavender going on in there.
If this just came out, it would be a smash hit, but because it has been so popular for so long, it has lost its appeal. I feel the same way about Issey Miyake, and Acqua Di Gio. So good, but for so long, that they become uninteresting. You can't hate that they've been able stay relevant for this long though.

Great review. Le Male has only fairly average projection on me, but it does have better than average longevity. But then I haven't worn it in 10 years... :P
I've only smelled this twice on other people, my whole life. It's not popular where I live. I'm on my second 125ml bottle. It HAS been reformulated. I bought my first bottle at Macy's and my second from Fragrancenet (which I trust). My first bottle didn't have "GAULTIER" on the back of the bottle like it does now and that stuff was waaay more powerful than what it is now. It still lasts 8-10 hours and projects average, so I agree with Daver. Great review, as always!

yeah i judge it by what i smell. but it's the same method that tells me if something is BEAST too. so i dont think it's my nose getting used to it, really. this started off just average anyway. yeah, not really sure why some people get better performance than others.
I purchased Cuba gold because I couldn't resist the ~10 dollar price for a big bottle. I agree while it has similarities it is drier and seems to have more tobacco and less sweetness. Also it's not nearly as projecting or long lasting. It's definitely not bad for ten dollars but overall I personally think Le Male is better.
Don't be fooled, if you apply this it is beast mode but like Aventus you can't tell on yourself. Great in the cold horrible in the heat. This frag got me the best compliment i ever recieved. I'll reserve the details on it in the fall edition of Playboy magazine.
LAY MALEY BABY!! This is the most common frag around my neck of the woods, and im in the middle of nowhere, that goes somewhere to showing how insanely popular this juice is, i have a bottle but haven't worn it for ten years, i bought it coz it was popular, now i buy frags that aint popular to be different. When I first smelled this it reminded me of like lavender-vanilla bubble bath. Totally agree that it's calming.
One more thing about Le Male... I've noticed I LOVE smelling it on other people, but I find it really hard to wear and very cloying up close. Also the beginning is crazy headache inducing. It's a fragrance that does well after it's been on *someone else's* skin for an hour or so. If I ever get it (and don't get me wrong I do love the smell of it) I probably will spray it on my back so it's not right in my face.
Le male is a classic so many good flankers aswell, and also i agree i own quite a few fragrances some EDP some intenses but i do not get beast mode on any, the only exeption is A*Men lasts forever but that's the only one, its like my skin absorbs it
I got it as a Christmas present… And I can't wait for use it for Spring ~.~

I have been avoiding purchasing this cologne even though I like the fragrance because it's one of the "classics" that I'm afraid may be "too popular." Maybe I should bite the bullet and get a bottle of my own...

Hmm.... I'm actually interested in getting a large decant of Le Male (maybe 1oz) if anyone wants and does decants. I never see people decanting this though.
I think mine has been reformulated, I don't get any beast mode from it anymore

The bottle (40 ml) was purchased in late March 2013.

Daniel Widjaja make sure you keep it out of sun and keep out of contact with air. do you rub it in? because dont if you do it kills the fragrance

Hey Dave... how do you judge that a frag like Le Male is just "average" on your skin? Are you going by being able to smell it on yourself or by what others say. I'm just asking because of the whole smell acclimation on yourself subject.
If that's not it then it's weird how some frags just don't last on some people's skin and are ridiculous on other people's skin.

have you done the shootout between this and cuba gold,, i find cuba gold much more wearable as a casual comprimise, but with the same smell

That's funny... The fact that it isn't too aggressive, nor too masculine and also not too strong are the things that make me like it. And to me it smells like old men, not young haha. That's pretty interesting!
I really don't like this fragrance due to the over usage and how synthetic it smells...BUT, I do find it more acceptable than One Million lol. Good review Bros, keep it up!

The only reason why I HATE this fragrance is because my father. Every time he is about to go somewhere, he gets dressed and showers with this cologne. He sprays it like 15 times all over his clothes. And he buys the fake version called Blue for Men.

Bad bottle bro. This is a reasonably priced fragrance so you should try getting it at Sephora. Believe me if there's a fragrance who delivers some bang for the buck, it's this one.

So why or why if it's been overdone, and rarely gets compliments, would it be still so hefty on the price? I think the fragrance world is trying to force it down our throats, kinda like horrible actors who are still making movies. Maybe it's a bad analogy, but I wear it in the cooler temps. and the women in my life could care less. Now if I wear Pure Havanne, or Angel Men, that's a whole different story :)

I think le male is a synthetic mess kind of baby powder, nothing masculine, I really hate to smell it in other people, it is a cheap smell with no class.. in my country Argentina is not a frecuent choice.. I prefer Kokorico.. not that origina but much much better

This one smells like laundry detergent. Top notes: laundry detergent, dry down: dish soap, base notes: speed stick antiperspirant. Not worth the hype. Very queer looking bottle that comes in a tin can.
