@@stephanieboat9333 With rising costs with home ownership, I am looking at RVing full time. So far, none of the trailers on the market meet my criteria like the trailer I already have. There are a couple that pique my interest but have drawbacks like an oven that I can't put a bread pan in. Looking forward to having you as a fellow traveler.

Same here. Been looking forward to this for a long time & here in the next few months, all these past 3 or 4 years now that I've been watching stuff like this & studying BTBRV will be paying off big time when I finally sell the house & buy my RV. It'll be an adventure for sure.

Theres some pretty reasonable lriced ones in NC. Grand Design is up there buuutttt they obviously are worth it. But there are some really nice ones around $40,000. I want to build a hybrid kinda living situation. Bedroom and kitchen in RV, but closet, laundry room, and living area at a permanent homestead. So I can go on trips without the anxiety of leaving the fur babies behind!

Fridge stays cold on the road using either propane or electricity if it’s a 12v fridge.
If it’s a 12v fridge it will run like normal while driving and (normally) your 7 pin connector will help keep the coach battery charged enough to keep the fridge running.
If you have a 120v/propane fridge, the fridge will either automatically or manually need to be changed from electric power to propane gas. These systems will keep the fridge cold while you are on the road will minimal draw from the coach battery.
If your trying to decide which one will work best for you… 12v fridges are great IF… you have solar and are in sunny areas often.
If not then a 120v/propane fridge may be the best option for off grid camping for you.

Have been watching your videos to get some idea on what the rv life will be like for my wife and I in a couple of years when she retires. I do have a tip for you that I have used during river camping that works great. Buy some pool noodles and keep them around so that when you have an issue with noise makers like doors hitting a propane tank, just cut the noodle to size and split it down one side and use it on the door to stop that banging noise. They also work great as pipe insulation and other uses that you can think of.

Loved the top 20 Q&A, always with the hilarious spin you put on them! Can believe that the sex question gets asked because love and romance doesn’t stop no matter what age you are 🔥. Sometimes due to the thin walls of the RV you overhear your neighbors and they may overhear your romantic times as well. Can make for some interesting conversations with neighbors and yourself lol. Winter RVing - not for us, but we always carry an electric space heater, why deplete your propane to run the furnace if you are paying for shore power anyway ? Got caught in an early October snowstorm in WY, tip: turn off the water if you don't need it, uncouple and drain the supply hose and bring it inside for the night, won't make that mistake again LOL. Or you can buy a heated supply hose...

Darn rookies!!!

The problem is most of the people say that 1/2 tons can pull a 5th wheel want to pull one thats over 30 ft. I had a 27ft 5th wheel that was well within limits that I pulled for years without issues. I now have a reflection 150 260RD. It's within my 1/2 tons tow ratings but it only gets towed twice a year. Once to the grounds and back to storage. Before anybody says anything I am a truck driver and I have to deal with weight regulations all the time so I do pay close attention to it. I do plan on upgrading my truck once the one I have is payed off.

An RV is made for short trips and only a few a year so if you live in one full time it will last a few years if you keep it up in great shape. I got a smoking great deal on a new trailer once and financed some of it and the first thing the bank asked was did I plan on living in it full time. I was a union electrician and moved 3 or 4 times a year for work so I would find an older RV in great shape and knowing I was only going to get a few years out of it I looked for the deals. Once I bought it I spent days resealing everything on the outside, digging deep on the inside and fixing anything that needed it. I had a large dehumidifier running all the time and a 26 foot trailer would put out 2 or 3 gallons of water a day just from living in it full time. RV's are made of thin, light weight material so they can be towed but they are not made for more than a few trips a year. Living in them full time will run it into the ground very fast. Not to mention if you do not reseal the entire outside every year you will get a leak and even a small one will lead to mold, toxic mold.. I always bought trailers because I did not want to worry about an engine problem. If you plan on living in one full time plan on getting a slightly used one or a great deal and swap it out every few years before the problems start. Remember, an RV is a big cost to buy and run so plan on spending a lot of money to live in one.

ok I need to throw this out if no one else has yet. You may need a CDL to tow a RV it will be based on the combined weight of the truck and RV. any dealer should be able to answer that or a call to you local PO and ask for their DOT officer.

I have a good video idea but it’s going to be interesting… toilet talk! How do you keep the smell out, toilet paper use, how to even use the toilet efficiently. What will be different between house toilet and rv toilet. This question is asked all the time in my Facebook group but I like videos to really visualize.

Are you guys big on meal planning? You mentioned how long your fridge stays cold and veg would be ok in that time frame. Do you rely on frequent grocery marketing for perishable stuff?

    • @HappilyEverHanks
      @HappilyEverHanks  2 роки тому +2

To be honest, we usually only plan for a night or two. We frequently find ourselves going to the grocery store often. It has been a goal for us to start building skills to become better meal planners 🙂Yes, we rely on frequent trips and making the most out of our meals. Like we will plan on cooking some chicken that will last for 2 nights so to speak.

@@HappilyEverHanks Greetings! My name is Maria Biss. My hubs, Brian, and I are very new to RV living and love your videos. Was wondering about meal planning with RV living and the attachment to grocery stores- mostly for perishable stuff. I try to take a main (chicken, fish, pork, steak) and use it for multiple meals. Ex: pork chops one night with leftover pork for yakisoba or stir fry. We’re big on pasta. I wonder if long term RV’ers utilize independent igloos or a freezer for less reliance on grocery stores…

Of course you can tow a fifth wheel with a half ton truck. First you need a fifth wheel with a GVWR of 10,000 lbs or less, second you need the heavy duty tow package with at least a 3:42 rear end and the extra cooling, third keep you fifth wheel under 30 feet. Otherwise go with the 3/4 ton.

I was going to wait until I turned 60 to do this, but with all the craziness with this Pandemic I decided why wait…life is too short. So I sold my home in Denver and decided to make my way out to Palm Springs ,CA. To start my new RV life. 😎 I’m excited but extremely nervous because I’m single and doing this all alone. I’m going to have my rig shipped to CA to start because I’m a scaredy-cat and don’t want to drive all that way on my own for the first time. Any suggestions or tips if doing this alone? Backing up is what terrifies me. Wish me luck. Thanks, David
