Oh my goodness, those poor meerkats in a cage! I love meerkats. But even in a zoo they have all kinds of hills and mounds and tunnels to live out their life. What do these poor things have for them in a cage?
This is great insight in to how the training course is really intensive. I'm so glad to have these shows to show just a small percentage of what they accomplish, as I eventually want to become an inspecter myself! 😊

So sad to see these crowded, frightened pigs in the jammed conditions, knowing they're headed for more terror and then slaughter so humans can slobber over the taste. They are highly intelligent (smarter than dogs), very sensitive, social and affectionate. Deserve to live.
I was thinking 'An animal's needs must be met - unless they are pigs' I lived in an area where they rear the famed Iberico pigs and seeing how they live compared to this Porcine Concentration camp brought it home just how inhumane farming can be. yes ,the Ibericos end up as meat, but they live in piggy heaven and about 3 years Longer than these poor critters. The breeders pride themselves on giving them the best life they can and people will pay more for well kept animals. This is humans wanting cheap meat and not giving a damn how it is produced again. And these are actually pretty good.
Thank you for being another uninformed American, who love to spout opinions based on ignorance. Staffordshire terrier is a breed included in the pit bull category.

If you can’t sorta replicate the Kalahari desert, don’t keep meerkats. If you aren’t willing to provide the incredible intellectual challenges that they need. Don’t get meerkats. While the enclosure was better than a bare bones iron cage, they’ll tire of it quickly. They were already running circles in there. They aren’t chinchillas nor hamsters. Best be burying some juicy scorpions for them too. Give em something to stand on so that they can stand on it and police the area all day as well. Complex creatures that were never meant to be outta the Kalahari. Those aren’t animal lovers. They’re animal possessors. I myself wouldn’t be able to ignore their, meerkats, pent up energy behaviors. Like the pacing and clawing at the cage. Yikes! Send em back to Africa! Keeping desert mammals as pets!? In cold butted GB too.
*Those meerkats still aren't happy. And they don't have any bedding. It's sad to see. They should have been taken and re-homed in a better place. Just think of how long they have suffered already.* *I'm very disappointed in the RSPCA for leaving them.*
You can't have them in a littel cace like this You see on of them want's out they soud be in a big plays where they can jump up in a tree feeling free like they are not now .and they are not pets have home. So l Hope they are going to a better play and if she loves them that's wats she is going to do let them take them whit the rescue
Why didn’t the RSPCA use the knocker on the door, and isn’t there a back door to the house that has the abandoned animals in it? And why wait 72 hours? Why not wait 24 hours? It’s almost like the RSPCA, and police don’t have enough people to confront the irresponsible animal owners, and arrest the cruel people that are harming animals.
It is the Law. The RSPCA and police have to act within the confines of the Law, otherwise they cannot do their job properly. They cannot prosecute people for a start, without proving neglect. One Day does Not prove neglect. Sorry but that is Reality. Which is where most of us live.
I have a great deal of respect for the RSPCA. However, the hypocrisy of the UK and every other country, including the United States, of the way farm animals are treated is mind boggling. The inspectors emotionally struggle with the way pets are kept locked up without attention, but they don't bat an eyelash when they walk into a factory farm and witness the exact same conditions of animal cruelty. I am horrified of the acceptance that it doesn't matter at the level of cruelty that farm animals are subjected. All life deserves respect and care, especially the ones that are going to be murdered for the table.
From a personal experience with euthanasia on canines and felines, please be sure that they at least give the animal some Demerol before the sodium pentobarbital. There's nothing more upsetting when your animal is being euthanized without some sedative beforehand, and they look up at you like what is happening mom?
My vet sedates first and then euthanized. When I had to put one of my cats put to sleep he was fast asleep when the sodium pentobarbital was given. Passed within seconds of the drug being administered. When you don’t sedate first it can go horribly wrong.
Why on earth is it legal to have meerkats as pets? I can’t believe she bought meerkats at a pet shop??!! Poor meerkats should not be living in captivity like that.
They have to find a vein before they can put the animal to sleep? That seems dumb. Starving emaciated animals may have collapsed veins that can't be found. _They need a drug that can be administered intramuscular, to avoid vein problems._
There needs to be a balance between control and freedom. The UK, like here were I live has crossed the boundary and has become over controlling. The line has moved too far towards restrictive legislation. More and more control, for the sake of control. Stopping cruelty is one thing, but preventing people from keeping pets and enjoying their hobbies is something else, especially when the animal is not endangered and no intentional cruelty is involved. I think organizations like the RSPCA in places like the UK should be diverting their resources to South East Asia where horrendous animal cruelty is widespread, intentional and accepted. If the RSPCA genuinely cared, they would be focusing on the worst cases of animal suffering and cruelty on a global level, and the UK is just not where it's happening. Just because something is part of a different culture, doesn't make it right. All cultures need to evolve to reduce pain, trauma and suffering for all sentient creatures. But I guess when it comes to politics, values and ethics take a back seat. Over doing the doing good in the UK, while doing nothing, or very little, in the places where it's really needed.
What a truly ridiculous comment. Clearly clueless on so many issues. . I hope You don't have animals, because I don't think you are fit. As for the nonsense about the RSPCA you are just plain ignorant. 'No intentional cruelty' So it is OK to keep meerkats in a tiny cage, or let an animal suffer needlessly because 'it wasn't intentional' Tell you what, I will come around, chain You in a room and give you no food or water, but it will be OK, because I don't intend to be cruel to you! You are one sick puppy.

There is no case where a colony animal like a meerkat should be kept in a home.

Why keep zoo animals? Then they need a proper zoo enclosure.
I'm disappointed they just left them. They aren't any better off.
