GREAT advice on not getting the 42" ... I was originally planning to go small (for my 1 acre lot), but so glad that I watched this video - makes sense that too narrow makes it harder to cut close to obstacles!
I have the 2018 52” Kawasaki model and mow 2 acres and the mower is just a beast. Very reliable and does a heck of a job! No complaints. I bought my mower at the beginning of 2019, the mower was a new leftover mower.
Thanks for the great review. I realize it was published quite some time ago but have a question I’m hoping you might be able to help with. I have a remote property where I’m cutting about 2.5 acres, much of which is fairly rough with occasional rock outcrops (very thin soil), and I will also be cutting around small trees that we have planted for Christmas trees on at least an acre. Hence, I don’t want anything bigger than a 48” deck as I need to get through some tight spaces. One of my local dealers carries both Ferris and Toro, and it’s quite easy to see that the Simplicity Courier is virtually the same mower as the Ferris 500s. My question is how you find the cutting quality on the Courier in long, thick grass and/or spindly weeds. The deck on your Courier looks identical to the deck on the Ferris 500s, and I can’t find any reviews on the 500s because it’s a new model, and none of the other Ferris mowers use that deck. For the record, I’m comparing the 500s to the Toro Titan MyRide 48” mower. I think it’s clear that the Toro MyRide will ride much smoother than the entry level Ferris, but the Toro doesn’t have a pivoting front axle, which concerns me since my ground is so rough and undulating. The other issue with the Toro is that it’s both longer (about 2”) and wider at back wheels (about 3”), which while doesn’t sound like much, it will definitely not be as nimble between the trees etc as the smaller Ferris 500s. Any advice you may offer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
The toro will not ride better. The toro is like riding a mechanical bull.... Yes simplicity and ferris are pretty much the same thing. In my opinion I would go for a courier XT or the ferris 500s which are the same thing. All depends do you like orange or red
@@addismultitasking3504 Thanks for your quick response. I wondered about the potential rocking motion with the Toro MyRide but the reviews all seem to be very positive on the ride comfort. I had also asked about the cut quality of the 48” Courier in long thick grass or tall’ish weeds. The deck on that unit (same as the Ferris 500s) looks quite different than some of the higher end ZT mowers - it doesn’t have much space in front of the blades for the long grass to pop up after being knocked down by the leading edge of the deck. Do you find it still cuts well in heavy, long conditions? I sometimes can’t get to my other property as regularly as I’d like, and the grass/weeds can get quite long between cuts. I’m trying to avoid going over it twice. Thanks again!
I have the same model. I find the springs are useless even on the softest setting. Also find that carrier is just about useless both are just a way of charging more money ! Also I removed the mesh seat and purchased a high back computer chair with arm rests cheep on eBay removed the base and mount it easily ! So much better !!!!!!'

mine is still working good, but I wish i had bought the 52 inch instead
@@addismultitasking3504 That’s good to hear, definitely do not regret buying mine!
You should invest in a form a funnel. Nice for draining oil in awkward areas.
Thanks for yet another great video sharing your experience and good advice. Really like watching them.
thanks for watching have a good weekend

Does it do the lawn stripes that Simplicity is famous for?
Yes it does
Can you have a grass catcher if you have a mulching kit installed?
Try forming a tray out of aluminum foil to catch the oil under the filter.
Good Idea, Have a good weekend
I was just wondering if you still had the Courier and still liked it? Thank you in advance Have a great day
Yes I do!
Have you tried using some bungee straps to hold the arms open while trailering?
yes, that works
Just finished a little spring maintenance on mine, love it - ua-cam.com/video/c9Lng7zE9uY/v-deo.html
