The long straights on the modern tracks are getting boring.
no kidding, a car with DRS can be overtaken by a faster car using his slipstream after his overtake, drivers are going to have to account for that.
@@FranciscoGarcia-yt2jm people cry about DRS, but it was already a problem on the Brazil GP on a classic track.
Really was his FIRST lap wasn’t it.. I’ve never seen a wall tap on one of these laps before now 😮 took me dozens of laps to get comfortable on, such a bizarre track

Unlike many I'll just wait for the race to finish to see how good or bad this new track is, no point in crying when nobody knows how it will actually be.
Edit: turns out it was worth the wait.
Same, though I fear that even after the race we may not know how the track truly ranks compared to others simply because of the potential issue with the tires and the cold weather might ruin the race but on a warmer day the track might be a lot better, who knows.
Most people are mainly mad at the way the track is taking up so much space in the city and fucking with traffic, and also how everything is built to stop residents from watching for free, despite the race being partially paid for with local tax dollars.
with temperature and tyres cooling after big straights, plus low downforce, breaking will be HUGE problem.

This is gonna be a truly historical F1 race, people are going to be talking about it as a bizarre CF for decades to come, mark my words.
Wouldn't the cold help cool the "old aging pu's" ? Surely they can run the engine warm enough to operating temps by closing off some venting.

Not going to be that cold. People were thinking it would be in the 40s, it's forecasted (and stayed this way all week) to be upper 50s. 58/57f to start the race.

Also these are PERFECT temps for turbo engines. I drove a turbo car, best time of the year for free power and responsiveness.

@@der_pabst866it’s a different measurement of temperature using the metric scale. If the race is going to be around 58° Fahrenheit, then that’s equal to around 14°Celsius. Water freezes when below 0°C and boils at 100°C 👍🏼

Quite a deceptive track. Long straights that could use less downforce but some twists that require downforce for maximum speed and stability. I can see some cars crashing like the Saudi track due to rear slides.

it's just a few straights and slow speed corners. All the drivers will be focused on is trying to get the tires up to temperature. And the brakes as well. So expect drivers to miss their braking points, especially with the weather which is way too cold for these cars. This track is a joke

On the longest straight you can gain 3 till 5kph more if you don't go over the little bump on the right before you go under a bridge. By doing this you go of the racing line but you get higher top speed

Probably Max and Checo did all the tracks for 2023 in only one sitting, sometime at the beginning of the year, as Checo it is clear he didn't learn the track yet (hitting wall, driving with racing line assist)
Leclerc crashed on the preparation lap and Sainz is easily overcoming it this season
Which is still quite slow. Pros are in the low 1:30s. I managed a 1:32.5 after only one day of practice.
