I bought a banjo out of luck from an old man at the music shop. Repairs included paid about $80. Played guitar and keys... Bass. All sorts of instruments for many years. These videos have helped me greatly and thank you for the big picture on this amazing instrument. It's brought the excitement back into playing for me. And you helped.
Love this series of videos. Glad to see someone showing music theory and how it relates to banjo.
these are the best banjo instruction vids ive seen on youtube thank you
Fantastic lessons (or skills sets)! Anyway, I don't know that I'll ever master all of these, but it sure is fun trying. Thank you!
These are great , Sean. Thank you so much for posting these on line. They really help fill in the gaps of my banjo playing.
Great video! I pretty much already knew all these licks, but I had great fun playing along with them. Also, it reminds me to put them in my playing. Wish I had this video years ago. It would have really helped me along. I'll put this on my watch again list. Thanks!
Superb presentation, delivery and content.
Dang Sean ... that's one fine sounding banjo .... great lesson man
Best lessons on youtube! Keep it up!
Are these 3 video lesson series the basis for all banjo playing if studied and mastered for just joining in and having fun?
I know, silly question but I’m not professional by all means, I do play I just want a better understanding of the fretboard and when to use what I learn. Thanks for the uploads
Boy,you should call this Vid "Bag full of Licks"seems like you have all the great ones included,if I only learn half of them I'll be happy, thanks
This is great, wish I had in the 1970s lol
Sean, this is helpful. I listened to all three. Is the pdf the same for all of them or do I need to get three separate PDFs? I don’t want to buy the same one twice.
Each lesson has different tab. If you have specific questions please contact me through seanray.com/contact
Thanks,
Sean

Hi sean.just learning the 5 string, because I'm a guitar player the chords are no problem but I'm having a time making any sense out of rolls, I can play them but they don't sound anything like Scruggs style..I got a older stew McDonald kit banjo not sure if it's decent,
Hello Sean, I'm Brazilian and I just bought a Fender Fender FB-300. Is it a good banjo? I'm learning a lot from your lessons!
Hi Anderson, That's a good beginner for the price. It should serve you well if you keep the head fairly tight and keep the bridge in the correct spot.
Thank you so much for responding so quickly. The model I bought is used the FB-300, I paid $ 350.00. Do you have any video about the position of the spot?
You can either measure or do it by ear. To do it by ear just match the 12 fret harmonics to the notes sounded when you fret the strings at the 12 fret. They should be the same pitch. Either way works. This video may help too. ua-cam.com/video/upDpi4JCPYw/v-deo.html
I sort of stumbled across your site and wonder if your lessons are available as a group of lessons? Is there a website I can got to and learn about what you have to offer? I am trying to learn how to play (at age 73)... REALLY!!!!Papajohnnyboy, (This is what my grand kids call me) Washington State
This is absolute gold....Thank you very much. I see the Frank Neat neck, but what else can you tell us about that banjo?...it just sings...
Howdy. That banjo is a Frank Neat RB-75 clone. Cox rim, resonator & Blaylock tone ring.
Awesome ... thanks for sharing .🎸
This stuff very helpful...
👍👍👍
This here lesson is beyond me
You should be more specific with how to play each lick
Man you have a very professional sounding voice! Makes it easy to learn. I've been playing for almost 20 yrs but still can learn a lot from you!
