This is beautiful. I have happy memories of exploring the remains of the old Prestwick swimming pool, as a child about 40 odd years ago.

I loved the Lido, it said so much about the optimism of the times, would be so good if they would put it back exactly as was.

Would love to have seen Prestwick in its heyday. Current resident here!

When Prestwick town council was amalgamated into Ayr and then eventually today South Ayrshire, it scuppered Prestwick as a town. Idiots are now charge, not just in Ayrshire but up and down the breadth of Scotland; we have more people working for councils in offices having meetings about meetings that we ever had; but fewer people actually doing jobs which physically entail looking after our beaches and parks. Groynes should have been constructed on Prestwick beach decades ago, along with Ayr and Croy beach. We might still have had sand on these beaches instead of boulders; it was suggested for the Brodick beach Arran but guess what North Ayrshire council in its wisdom rejected the idea. We need to go back to town councils who are totally independent of County councils.

Hi, glad you liked it, if you could offer a link back to the original video that would be fine to use it.

Not a hotel on Prestwick beach now. Links, Parkstone and Queens hotels demolished or turned into something else!
