Once again, the ingenious composer duo Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer created the majority of the new soundtrack. After winning a Grimme Award, the prize of the German Academy for Television in the category Music (DAFF) and the German Television Price for "Best Music", Klimek/Tykwer once again invite to experience the acoustic superlatives. BABYLON BERLIN SEASON 3
The plot of the third season centers, once again, around inspector Gereon Rath (Volker Bruch) and his quest to solve the second case from Volker Kutscher's bestselling novel series. Once again, the combination of set design, costumes, narrative and soundtrack creates an emotionally captivating symbiosis. While the Dresden pop band Woods Of Birnam, along with the Bryan Ferry Orchestra and an original recording by cabaret artist Claire Waldoff, constitute the bulk of the soundtrack, the finely orchestrated pieces stem from the collective pen of Klimek/Tykwer. Their mixture of exotic music, jazz, program music and larger-than-life-sound creates an overwhelming, immersive sensualism of the Berlin of the time. The opium caves, the outskirts of the dancehall Moka Efti where those secret connections between prostitution, drug dealers, the art scene, politics, gangsters and industrialists come together - “Bis in den Mondenschein” (“Until moonlight”), as Meret Becker sings in the eponymous song with a trembling voice. Babylon Berlin (Original Television Soundtrack Vol.II) comprises 25 pieces of music that immediately create images in the mind and are the supporting elements of the most successful series ever designed and realized in Germany.
BABYLON BERLIN is a production of X Filme Creative Pool in co-production with ARD Degeto for Das Erste, Sky, WDR and Beta Film. The third season is funded by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the German Motion Picture Fund.

Discovered this amazing serie only recently and about to start series three. I can't stop myself humming this particular song whilst at work.
The series was brilliant and deserved far greater recognition. The artistry is in line with any of the top Hollywood directors. It captures the period perfectly and I hope that a third installment will be produced.
