Cabcar with a P5A Horn? | New Horn on Nashville WeGo Star Train 2/24/2023

- I don't want to make a big deal on how easy it was to get ahead of this train but I did get it 3 times in one go. Not exactly new but that mixed cast Nathan P5A really rings out nicely on NRTX 795. It was leading Music City Star Train 158 as it approached Lebanon Station. From there I was able to get it again at Stewarts Ferry Pike and Donelson Pike. After that I went over to Mount Juliet where the shorter of the two trains was sitting before heading back to Riverfront Station. Got to chatting with one of the conductors. At the end of the video he did a bit of a Shave and a Haircut with the cab car as it left Mount Juliet.
All in all, good day despite the cloudy weather.
EDIT:
I have no idea about that clip at Mount Juliet Station with the corrupted audio. It sounded fine when I was editing the audio but uploaded to UA-cam it got messed up.
Awesome video here man, love that P5A!!!
The Nathan P5 & P5A is my favorite Train horn
The PERFECT mix of bells
That thing is a BEAST
Super cool 😎
That sounds like UP 8952’s old P5A!
2:10 was W rizzz
I love it so much I would rate the horn 1000000000000000000000000000% ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is the same horn that Metra used on their Budd cabcars before they were all converted to coaches
795 actually has a new cast p5a the same as on the metra f40ph-2. F40ph-3 and f40phm-3.
I guess I'm in the minority here. The horn is alright but I do miss that Leslie S2 horn. I grew up watching those cab cars on the former BN line in Chicago before I moved away.
As someone who grew up around SEPTA in his childhood, I always liked the RS2M so I feel that.
I heard that these cars are from MiTrain. If MiTrain really is cancelled, I wonder where the remaining equipment will go.
It's been stalled, canceled, sold off, you name it. A good portion of the galleries came here while West Coast Express just got that F59.
Man that combo is awesome! It’s Old Cast 1 5 Newcast 2 3 4A. The 2 is slightly flat though but it still sounds fantastic.
Gives it K5LLA vibes
I'm an engineer on the Star and this is actually my personal horn. I'm not sure the 2 is flat as much as the 1 and 5 are sharp. Fun fact, the 5 in particular is a modified NC bell tuned to play the note of an OC 5. Unfortunately it was just a few cents sharp. I think it plays 561hz and a true OC plays 554hz.
@@trucks_n_tunes I see that yall put US flags on 122 and 795, are you guys going to do that on all locos and cab cars eventually?
@@trucks_n_tunes Wow thanks for the response!
@@ControlPointDonelson That I'm not sure.
Were the train cars purchased preowned from Metra?
Their history starts with CBQ, then they became part of the Metra BN/BNSF fleet, they got sold off and became part of the failed MiTrain in Michigan before being sold to WeGo
Thanks for the history lesson. What became of CBQ? And what caused MiTrain to fail?@@RaisedLetter
@@danieltaylor5807 CBQ would merge into Northern Pacific and Great Northern to form the Burlington Northern.
MiTrain seemed to just silently die out. It went through testing and it seemed like it would open and then it just stopped. Equipment was stored for a few years and then quietly sold.
like F40 P5 horn
Don’t forget Metra Budd gallery cab car
Bro the engine sounds give me Metra vibes
I mean it's galleries and F40's which definitely gives it a Metra vibe
I say that it’s a great combination.
This is f40 122
Why did star choose to copy metra’s BNSF clash cars
Because they are ex-Metra BNSF Cab Cars?
