The main reason they were more interested in Antarctica than the Arctic . Is because people have known about the Arctic for thousands of years . And you don't have to cross any water or anything like that to get to the Arctic . I was born in Northern Canada , not terribly far from the Arctic circle .

I cant remember what book or article it was from but it was supposed eye witness accounts from folk who lost female family members they went to be chisen for the promise of a better life, the women had to be a certain height and look, the only reason I still remember is how absurd it was at the time.
