Wow, what a great song John I love Charlie Parker, I had an uncle by that name. I haven’t really heard anything by him for a long time so thanks for this and thanks to Harri for his wonderful reaction.
Thanks, Cynthia. Charlie got his nickname Yardbird due to his favorite food...chicken. In the midwest where Charlie grew up, chickens were customarily raised by every household, hence they were called yard birds.
Omgoodness, this IS "diamonds," Harri. It's a song to listen to when you want something mellow & relaxing. And maybe have a glass of wine and a special someone next to you to go with it. ❤ Again, great reaction, Harri, & thanks John for your beautiful suggestion. You always choose great ones that are very much appreciated! 😊
Thanks, Annie. The level of musicianship on this (and the other tracks on this landmark album) is incredible, led, of course, by Bird. Mitch Miller played oboe on it (before he became head of Columbia Records and formed the Mitch Miller Singers). I wonder if he had already grown his goatee by then. LOL.
John, I could listen to Charlie Parker for days This was a great submission choice. Bravo! Harri, your review was outstanding.
Still stunning.
Thank you!!

Oh and Buddy Rich is the drummer.
I was introduced to Charlie Parker in high school 40 years ago and was amazed. I still find him amazing. 😊
@@jamesloughran7278 I would have loved to have met him. 😊
Harri, Chet Baker recorded this with vocals. I think you would enjoy it, as well.
