Me and my one of my best friends of 30 years and jamming buddy GUZZY would play this all the time when we jammed together, he passed away in June of 2023 at the age of 48 from kidney disease, now this song has taken on a whole new meaning to me, I miss him terribly, LOVE YA JAY! Hope we can jam together again someday RIP

WIKI::By the 1980s, Rollins had stopped playing small nightclubs and was appearing mainly in concert halls or outdoor arenas; through the late 1990s he occasionally performed at large New York rock clubs such as Tramps and The Bottom Line. He added (uncredited) sax improvisations to three tracks by the Rolling Stones for their 1981 album Tattoo You, including the single, "Waiting on a Friend" and the long jam "Slave". ☆☆☆☆♤☆☆☆☆

The Stones are The Stones. My best friend was their biggest fan. At least in the west coast. I lost her a few years ago, after 40+ years of friendship, I was 48 when she left this world.
This was/is and always will be "Our Song". I still cry every time I hear it. Tears of pain of missing her but mainly tears of joy knowing that she will never be farther than this song.
We are both "Just waiting on a friend".

I remember in 1981 being in the hospital after a car accident (I was 20), and my girlfriend brought in beer while my roommate (a local cop) had his wife sneak in wine. We had a great party in the room while the NY radio station played the entire new Rolling Stones album, Tattoo You, released that day.
Booze, painkillers, and a brand new Stones album that was simply amazing. Ah the 1980s...
I can’t top that but I was hospitalized with 3rd degree burns, friends brought Q-Ludes better than any thing at the hospital.
@@flouisbailey Wow, that still must have been very painful. On the subjects of burns and drugs, a recent story of mine, more about my stupidity than anything. A month ago I was prescribed Ambien to help me sleep. I misjudged how quickly the drugs kicked in, trying to clean up the kitchen before bed. I nodded off on a bench in the kitchen, knocking over a full jug of Clorox bleach. The bleach soaked my clothes while I slept for 7 hours. I woke up with 2nd degree chemical burns over my legs and ass, was hospitalized, and am just getting back to a normal life again. While I did not suffer the 3rd degree burns like you, the location of these burns made it impossible to sit and sleep for a month. Pure hell.

Before I retired I treated a lady for recurrent whiplash. She took Albion and went out in all kinds of positions. Her MD told her severe neck and shoulder pain was not a side effect. Glad for you they didn’t say all this pealing skin is not a side effect.

I didn’t say morphine you did, burns are not usually treated with strong pain meds. Why you may ask? People would do too much being in denial of injuries. Flash burns are deceptive first day not so bad, 2-? you basically bleed through your skin as layers of skin come off. Real 1970’s, 714s one=party, two=staggering bottle of vodka, three=🥴, FOUR=on floor no party, Mexican bootlegs??? PS made females super horny with some amnesia and guys limp or close to it. If only Viagra chaser. Any one else have AS Soper or 714 story to share?

Very very hard to pick a favorite Stones song, but I have loved this one since the very first time I heard it back when it came out. I love the lyrics, the arrangement, the vocals and probably my favorite part is the amazing saxophone. Such a deep and beautiful song.

I loved Tattoo You, great album and great song, went with a group of friends to see them in 1981, at the old Candlestick Park, it was fantastic!! George Thourogood & Jay Giles opened, it was a sunny warm fall day so much fun, my long curley hair was hot pink and matched my Magenta chenille jacket and my pure silk purple & magenta jumpsuit.
