So, after 3000 hours of play on keyboard, I finally decided to learn the directional air roll. In just two days connections started to appear and I got to Level 9 on Lethamyr's Giant Rings Map. But currently I only trained my air roll left and I was wondering if learning the air roll right was really necessary or not. I wonder what the benefits are of learning both and when to use each. Wow I've been trying to learn air roll by pressing Q and E along with WASD for many months now and kept failing, and I didn't know you can just air roll with Q, S and D. I instantly learned how to constantly air roll around free play without falling or crashing. It feels good to be able to air roll and turn left or right whenever I want. I still can't turn sharp corners though and I can only turn in big arcs but I'm definitely improving!
You definitely need W and A occasionally for tilting your car down or turning left, but you’ll mostly use S and D to kind of counter the effect of air roll to keep your nose up and turn

I mostly use Q but I’ll use E as well depending on what wall I jump off of or any other situation that requires it. I’ll move my finger up from A or D whenever I want to use that air roll

It allows you to turn left and right while air rolling compared to holding shift + A/D which stops you from being able to turn left/right unless you stop air rolling. Let me know if that makes sense!

the most important thing that was not said is that you need to press the buttons as the car turns. If the car is looking at you with the roof, then this is a right turn if you press the D button and if the bottom is looking at you, then this is the letter A, this is a left turn
Dude I’m the video I’m so confused are you using d to turn left and right or are you using D to turn right and S to go left and how do you bring the nose up? Is it just like if your going right turn left a little ?
D let’s me turn right and S pitches my nose up. However, I’m air rolling left at the same time. There’s no way to just tell you press this press that. You have to experiment with things and build up as mentioned in the video
Great video, but i didn’t understand how you’re able to move in all directions while only using S&D while holding air roll left. I also noticed that you never used air roll right, which makes me assume that you use air roll left even for turning right, which didn’t make a lot of sense.
he can move all directions because your car is constantly rotating with air roll so D is not always right, sometimes the car is in a position where if you press D it will move forward, sometimes it will move backwards, you have to go into free play and try it so you can see how it works. but its really hard to get grasp of it, its my 2nd day practicing and i kinda can fly a little bit but i end up crashing soon after its so hard.. what i did notice is it greatly helped me in aerials without using air roll bcs air roll is so difficult to control that without air roll i dont struggle at all, i can move my car freely so i sometimes dont understand why air roll is needed when i can just use W A S D Q E when needed, like just a little taps
You can’t constantly hold them all down. Q is the only one that CAN be constant. And you should never really press W, it’s S/D that you tap to make adjustments

Are you looking always the exact position of the car when you want to go right or left? I've been trying for hours and my car doesn't go where I want, when press S or D :(
I'm not 100% what you mean, however, I'd recommend looking at your car from a birds eye view (As if you're looking down towards the nose of your car). Then based off of where your nose is pointing, make adjustments. This is something that should take dozens, if not almost 100+ hours before you master. Also, air rolling IS NOT a make or break thing, you can get high ranked with almost no air roll if you wanted.
Shift and s/d is fine if you’re not worried about making it to super high ranks and pro. However you should have BOTH that and Q/E ideally as the Shift and s/d have different effects than Q/E as mentioned in the video

Wait so is shift basically just useless for air rolling? I’ve been using it this entire time before this and it’s hard to get out the habit of using it
There’s no secret formula to know when to press what. It’s more about understanding how pressing certain keys manipulates your car. For example, S will make your car look up and so on. From there, you can start control your car better in regards to what direction it faces. Take it step by step and use the in-game speed scroll bar to make the game slower to give you more time to think and put in controls. Speed it back up gradually as you get better
The rings map is probably your best bet. You can do it with bakkesmod on a slower speed or just practice in freeplay as well. Most of the practice with air roll is literally just playing and your muscle memory gradually improving
If you’ve done it for over 150 hours, that might be an exaggerated number. However, you’re probably practicing incorrectly and never reflecting on why things go wrong so I’d take a step back and look at what specifically is going wrong when you practice. You could be lacking in non-aerial ways causing you to not be able to do much as well

Not exactly sure what you mean, but if you're looking to go forward, you'd want your nose to point slightly forward by pressing W when you can see the top of your car or S if you see the underside while air rolling. This can take dozens, and even 100+ hours so you have to be patient with yourself and not take it too seriously as it's not going to be the difference maker until you're trying to hit high GC or SSL.

You're probably holding down the keys when you should be tapping based on the direction your car is facing while air rolling. I'd recommend focusing more on where the nose of your car is facing and making adjustments based off of that

when you jump and holding W it doesn't go down, unless you press w again your front car will go down the invert swivel just disables that when you jump you dont go down instantly incase it messes up something i play without it
hey, i'm changing the way i play trying to getting use to the mk instead of the controller. I'm a D1 with controller and i recently started to learn air roll left and i noticed that with pad to go to the left or right everyone recommend to change the position of the stick (bottom right to go left / up right to go right). I saw that you only use D and S with air roll left. I was wondering, if i should change the air roll to another key to be able to use A ? Or if so, should i try to getting use to use the same key to go to the left and right ( D when the car is facing you to go left, and always D when the car isnt facing you to go right)? What do you suggest?
I use D and S because I air roll left but if I were to air roll right I would use A and S. Not sure if I completely understand your question but you shouldn’t be using D when air rolling to the right because you can’t press both of those buttons at the same time (E and D can’t be pressed at the same time)

That’s the practice component - Air rolling is different than most mechanics people learn because there are so many variables making every situation require different adjustments. If your car is going sideways, you have to make an opposite adjustment based on the direction your car is facing and where you want it to go. There’s no secret formula that will make you understand or perfect it quickly. Only repetition and trial/error matter

You would need to bind the other two in order to air roll and turn at the same time. Otherwise you’ll need to let go of shift to turn if you don’t want to bind an air roll left/right

Yo, my controls are weird but i'm pretty used to it, it's pretty useful if you need to air roll to the left, therefore, to the right it's a lil bit complicated. A = Air roll left Q = Steer left D = Steer Right E = Air roll right It's pretty hard for me to try new controls, should i keep it or change it?
Hey! My philosophy on controls is that it’s very much up to preference. Truthfully, when I read this my initial thought was for sure change because it seems complicated and I know this wouldn’t work for me. However, I’m not you so if you feel comfortable doing all mechanics with these controls, I see no problem. If you’re newer to the game and/or not GC1+ and haven’t learned more advanced mechanics, changing might be beneficial for you

Hi, in a week of practice, I mastered the basic air roll, passed the lethamyrs medieval rings map in 50 minutes, can barely score some shots in ranked, but there is one fact that haunts me. I noticed that I change the position of the car mainly when the hood is looking at me. I have to wait for the car to make a full turn, and then change the trajectory. It seems to me that it is better to get rid of it earlier, but when I try, it confuses me and I fly away. Have you had such a problem, how critical is it and how did you get rid of it?
It’s fine for you to change it when it’s facing a certain direction but it would be beneficial to be able to change direction no matter where your car is facing. There’s no quick fix to it other than to practice turning when your car is pointing a different direction

For my life I can't air roll using Q or E. it feels awkward as hell to use. although i did understand from your video how you do it. you yourself showed how air roll sometimes is not useful. I do find it useful sometimes when you need to hit soft touches. but that i can also do with regular aka "SHIFT" air roll, then why is it so important?
It’s very case by case as Q/E allows you to turn left or right while air rolling which can be useful for certain control touches in the air. Some people only use regular air roll on controller and can still rank up the same way some people only use Q/E and rank up. Either way, it won’t be the difference between you reaching SSL or not. For professional play, it can be an issue but for the average player it isn’t
You can definitely learn air rolling at platinum, however, it’s more beneficial to get comfortable using ground mechanics first before going into the air too much

thats what i thought as well but apparently he is not using E to air roll and also hes not pressing A to turn, hes apparently doing only Q and D, to go right you press D when car is pointing forwards and you press D again to go left when car is pointing backwards

W is only used to pitch your car down so when air rolling, I only use Q/E. Some people use left shift and A/D

It’s still useful! Just situational and usually limiting when it comes to most aerials nowadays though

Is air Rolling good with the same settings bot without holding shift? I mean A for left sir roll and D for right air roll
If you bind air roll left and right to A/D, you won’t be able to turn left or right anymore so you probably don’t want to do that

Appreciate your content! Does invert swivel setting affect this mechanic? I have it on but i don't know actually what it does and if it is better to have it on or off
when you jump and holding W it doesn't go down, unless you press w again your front car will go down
the invert swivel just disables that when you jump you dont go down instantly incase it messes up something i play without it
hey, i'm changing the way i play trying to getting use to the mk instead of the controller. I'm a D1 with controller and i recently started to learn air roll left and i noticed that with pad to go to the left or right everyone recommend to change the position of the stick (bottom right to go left / up right to go right). I saw that you only use D and S with air roll left. I was wondering, if i should change the air roll to another key to be able to use A ? Or if so, should i try to getting use to use the same key to go to the left and right ( D when the car is facing you to go left, and always D when the car isnt facing you to go right)?
What do you suggest?
I use D and S because I air roll left but if I were to air roll right I would use A and S. Not sure if I completely understand your question but you shouldn’t be using D when air rolling to the right because you can’t press both of those buttons at the same time (E and D can’t be pressed at the same time)

@@KBMEvil So I binded my air roll left to space bar to be able to use Air roll left(Q )with A. Do you think that's worth it? or should I stick with the key back to default of Q?
but how u maintain that car vertical... if i press w or d it goes sideways....
That’s the practice component - Air rolling is different than most mechanics people learn because there are so many variables making every situation require different adjustments. If your car is going sideways, you have to make an opposite adjustment based on the direction your car is facing and where you want it to go. There’s no secret formula that will make you understand or perfect it quickly. Only repetition and trial/error matter
@@KBMEvil agree with u but if u practice and u dont know what are u doing wrong and ending up in the same way and cant figure it out its pointless, i mean i saw what u did in the video but if im doing the same as u pressing q and d it just dont stay straight i try to figure it out how u manage to keep the car verticaly and what i came up with is that u press somehow and uk when exacly to use boost when the car is on a side while spining or im just to bad to learn it :))) not mention to do that in an actual game :)) ty for the response tho

Hard to say but you can definitely get to champ-gc1 without it but it’s also a valuable thing to know to make the climb easier

I don't understand why press S and D can steer in certain direction? if i do that it sometimes go left sometimes go right?

I'm using arrow keys on keyboard, never mouse. Am I doing it wrong?
That’s ok! I actually use my arrow keys if I’m ever on a laptop to jump/boost so not a big deal

Why do you just use A+S (when ARL'ing) and not all the controls?
I actually use S + D mostly as that allows me to keep my nose pointed up while turning (S to look up and D to turn with my air roll on Q)

You would need to bind the other two in order to air roll and turn at the same time. Otherwise you’ll need to let go of shift to turn if you don’t want to bind an air roll left/right

Totally normal. Shift forces you to use A/D, Q/E should be used independently from shift

I just realized i didn’t really tilt my thumb stick in the same direction of my air roll.
Yo, my controls are weird but i'm pretty used to it, it's pretty useful if you need to air roll to the left, therefore, to the right it's a lil bit complicated.
A = Air roll left
Q = Steer left
D = Steer Right
E = Air roll right
It's pretty hard for me to try new controls, should i keep it or change it?
Hey! My philosophy on controls is that it’s very much up to preference. Truthfully, when I read this my initial thought was for sure change because it seems complicated and I know this wouldn’t work for me. However, I’m not you so if you feel comfortable doing all mechanics with these controls, I see no problem. If you’re newer to the game and/or not GC1+ and haven’t learned more advanced mechanics, changing might be beneficial for you

Not exactly sure what you mean. KBM is on/off though so you have to tap the keys when air rolling

If you’re ok console, you can’t. If you’re on Epic Games, you’ll have to look up a UA-cam guide and use a software called Bakkesmod
you say jump face up and then q to go to the turning point, tell me how tf I am looking straight, jump look up, then q and boost and it taking me to the side like to the wall instead of going straight
You’re most likely putting another input it! It takes a lot of practice (sometimes hundreds of hours) to get down

I'm not 100% what you mean, however, I'd recommend looking at your car from a birds eye view (As if you're looking down towards the nose of your car). Then based off of where your nose is pointing, make adjustments. This is something that should take dozens, if not almost 100+ hours before you master. Also, air rolling IS NOT a make or break thing, you can get high ranked with almost no air roll if you wanted.

Hi, in a week of practice, I mastered the basic air roll, passed the lethamyrs medieval rings map in 50 minutes, can barely score some shots in ranked, but there is one fact that haunts me. I noticed that I change the position of the car mainly when the hood is looking at me. I have to wait for the car to make a full turn, and then change the trajectory. It seems to me that it is better to get rid of it earlier, but when I try, it confuses me and I fly away. Have you had such a problem, how critical is it and how did you get rid of it?
It’s fine for you to change it when it’s facing a certain direction but it would be beneficial to be able to change direction no matter where your car is facing. There’s no quick fix to it other than to practice turning when your car is pointing a different direction

For my life I can't air roll using Q or E. it feels awkward as hell to use. although i did understand from your video how you do it. you yourself showed how air roll sometimes is not useful. I do find it useful sometimes when you need to hit soft touches. but that i can also do with regular aka "SHIFT" air roll, then why is it so important?
It’s very case by case as Q/E allows you to turn left or right while air rolling which can be useful for certain control touches in the air. Some people only use regular air roll on controller and can still rank up the same way some people only use Q/E and rank up. Either way, it won’t be the difference between you reaching SSL or not. For professional play, it can be an issue but for the average player it isn’t
i personally cant use Q and E too so i use my 2 mouse buttons and i find it way easier

You can definitely learn air rolling at platinum, however, it’s more beneficial to get comfortable using ground mechanics first before going into the air too much
The tutorial is great, but I can't still understand how can you air roll q + d into all directions, that's what I can't understand...
Air rolling is arguably the most difficult thing to understand conceptually as well as apply so it can take hundreds of hours of practice. The video is a little old now but the general steps are still good. Don’t go into practicing immediately with air roll the entire time. Take it step by step and use the in-game speed scroll bar to make the game slower to give you more time to think and put in controls. From there, speed it back up gradually as you get better
this was really useful but i find it hard to press air roll and turn in the air and still have control
thats what i thought as well but apparently he is not using E to air roll and also hes not pressing A to turn, hes apparently doing only Q and D, to go right you press D when car is pointing forwards and you press D again to go left when car is pointing backwards
