I have found the integration of the NI S series for Quick Controls to get wonky if loading an NKS instrument instead of something like Retrologue as shown in this video. NKS functionality kicks in and seems to hijack QC functionality. Would love to see you do a video on MIDI remote, including using QC on an instrument track that has an NKS instrument loaded if possible!
I only showed this with my S series keyboard because I don’t have another midi controller. It’s probably best to use another midi controller though as indeed NI integration kicks in at some point.
I need to watch this video 10 times to undertsand VST Quick Control vs. Track Quick Controls and how to use them from my Komplete keyboard. This video is exactly what I was looking for years.
Another great video! I would like you to make a video on ways to optimize CPU usage... I've been having a lot of issues working on CPU intensive projects. And please adress Freezing vs Render in place and how to preserve sidechaining on a channel if you have to freeze it. Keep up the good work!
This is the video I needed. Somebody just gave me (for free!) a Gen 1 MidiMan Axiom 61. So I decided to use it as a controller instead of the Korg M-50 I was using previously. However, trying to set up the quick controls was confusing to me. So, thanks for the badly needed help!
I gave up on quick controls. So a midi remote video controlling with a hardware controller AND third party plugins (no steinberg) your QC would be great. Try controlling Arturia synths for example. 😉 Also how do QC work with multi timbral instrument tracks (omnisphere) and additional midi tracks for the other 7 slots. 👍🏻
In Omnisphere, just remember to right click on the Omnisphere control before you do the learn, and choose "Enable Host Automation". Any control on any of Omnisphere's 8 parts can be attached to a quick control. It doesn't matter if you have multiple output tracks or only one.
Hi Martin, another great video. Many thanks. : ) I have the same Native Instruments keyboard as you but setting it up as a midi remote in Cubase is a mystery to me. Because there seems to be quite a lot to it, if you could do an in-depth tutorial on this subject that would be fab! : ) Kind regards, Darren (Wales, UK)
Hi Dazza, I already have a separate video on how to setup the various NI integrations for that keyboard. That goes much further than midi remote actually.
@@dazza1000 we did a small tour in the UK in 2016 actually so who knows, it might happen again 😁. This is the video I meant: Using Komplete Kontrol S61 MK2 in Cubase 12 ua-cam.com/video/UDKzlsbC0yc/v-deo.html
I've assigned the macros in Phase Plant to Quick Controls that correspond with my faders on my MIDI Controller. Every time I close the project the assignments are lost and I have to start from scratch. Is this proper and right?
..great video, but why there's no just midi learn option without quick controls so we can assign any knob or button to any plugin in cubase to be much simpler....regards
Bvd & keep up the good work!
@@LanewoodStudios Some months ago I tried to get MIDI remote working with my SL Mixface controller and got absolutely nowhere, but now, perhaps because of some improvements with Cubase 13, it's working like an absolute dream. The secret, I think, is to use the multiple page function and set one of your buttons to cycle through your different pages... it took a bit of trial and error, but I finally got it and I totally love it! I particularly recommend the petite Mixface as you can switch between DAW mode where you can select and arm tracks and the control change setting where you control your MIDI remote pages. Perhaps I should make a video, but I'm sure Mr. Lane will do an excellent job!
I just checked my project that I used for the Quick Controls video but it's still showing all quick controls in Cubase 13 as well. Both in the inspector for audio tracks as well as VSTi tracks. And also on the VSTi instrument itself. Not sure what happened in your project.
@@LanewoodStudios I found the Track QC presets. Seems C13 no longer has the little preset symbol, but you have to right click on QC and it opens box with Presets as one of the selectable items.
You are defenately the very best person with explanatory videos on UA-cam way above most of the so called experts i've had the misfortune of watching.
Wow thanks 🙏.
Absolutely !! Clear, succinct, to the point !! No fake subtle product ads, no over the top dialogues
Thank you so much !!

There is a bit of a learning curve yes. Glad the video is useful to you.
Great summary focusing on what works, I knew most of this but this was a super refresher.
Great that it was useful.
Another really useful video ! thank you
Glad to hear that!
Yes, a MIDI Remote video would be greatly appreciated!
it's on the list!
Ha! Excellent timing. I was about to look into this over the weekend! Looks like I can use it with my CC121...
Enjoy!
