Jet-powered Ukrainian drones spotted over Russia's Belgorod region

- Jet-powered Ukrainian suicide drones have been spotted flying over Russia’s Belgorod region for the first time, as Kyiv ramps up its strikes on Putin’s home turf. Three short clips show black drones with arrow-shaped wings flying fast over the Russian region which sits on the Ukrainian border, accompanied by the sound of a jet engine. It is not clear whether these craft struck anything or were just being tested. If deployed in combat, it is likely the jet drones would be used for strikes deep inside Russia targeting key oil refineries which pay for Putin’s war and weapons factories that supply his troops. Ukraine has used a huge range of drones to attack these sites already, including one last week that seemed to be based on a Cessna or similar light aircraft. Kyiv’s aim is to wear down Russia’s ability to fight while it regenerates its own military after the failed counter-offensive last year that has seen Western assistance dry up.

The test over Russia’s Belgorod airspace is a warning that would scare the hell out of Putin.
@@quyletranThe dog is barking, and the caravan is coming! Found someone to scare, where is Putin and where is Belgorod 🤣
The innovation shown by the Ukrainians is incredible
Yes indeed! Hard to believe their rate of drone progress. From the Ukrainians I have known over the last 2 decades, their outstanding feature is an ability to learn at a very high rate.
@@electronwave4551 Their development took more than 10 years
Your right.
Out of limited materials they have used a great deal of initiative.
Sadly, us in the West have not supported them as we should.
@@dmitry_b424 Perhaps, but their drone developments in the last 2 years have been remarkable, particularly when the burden of the war is factored. Russia has hardly been under an equal assault, and the Ukraine workforce has been heavily depleted. From my experience, the city-based Russians are equally intelligent, but are heavily weighed by an inability to psychologically adapt.
@@dmitry_b424This is the correct answer. From 2014 to 2022, Ukrainian defense enterprises just issued pilot samples. Something was tested in the first months, for example, cruise missiles "Neptune" on the cruiser Moscow. Something is just beginning to be tested...
wont give us F16’s? how about F1.6
hhahaha
Yo 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Bravo 👏
With midget pilots?
😂
I admire Ukrainian ingenuity, they will be a major military manufacturing country in the coming decade (as they were during ussr times)
Russia will eventually collapse ... Putin knows not what he does.
🤣🤣🤣
Это сарказм?
I doubt it.
All the buyers that used to use russian junk are going to have to shop somewehere, might as well be ukraine. After all, its the worlds largest testbed for launching autonimous arial weapons.
That jet drone is British "Banshee J-80" flying target that Ukraine uses as kamikaze drones. Ukrainian technologies you say daily uh?
Tu-22 M down by MODIFIED s200
Human innovation is at its fastest during times of war.
Always.
Unbelievable how smart the Ukrainians really are I mean come on let’s take a minute to really appreciate the genius in this and sea baby drone and submarine. Amazing job Ukraine
@@user-dv1rg7oq5r You Russians are a joke, you have lost over 300,000 men in suicide waves and half of your Black Sea fleet to a country without a navy and you still think the world doesn't look at you guys as a joke.
Another idiot forgetting that most weapons, air-and spacecraft development for the Soviet Union originated in Ukraine. A country by the way you can look up on a 17th century map by Ioan Blaeu, though it is much older than that.
@user-dv1rg7oq5r you silly sausage, the fact that you could hear it let alone film it means that this is not an english drone.
My guess is that these are powered by RC model jet engines. These engines are fairly inexpensive and have a maintenance cycle of about 25 hours, but that is more than enough for a single use drone.
They are indeed, but utilising twin turbines, I suspect solely in order to carry a 20kg + payload of explosives. At roughly £20k a pop, they're literally throw away in comparison to the USA standard of NGI missiles at $111,000 each. Toy story just got real....
@@LetsTravelThroughTime As they say Ukraine has been developing capabilities on the right side of the cost curve
The corresponding Iranian Shahed 238 use an unlicensed copy of the French Microturbo TRI 60. This turbojet engine was developed for use in cruise missiles, target drones, and other small unmanned air vehicles.
Turbine RC models are very fast but have a flight endurance of 5-10 mins only. I'm questioning if this is just psyop misinfo by Ukraine?
@@chrisg6091 That´s not right anyway, you can see many RC turbine videos and they last much longer than you say and are quite reliable to be reusable.
Bravo 👍🏼
When there is desperation and the Allies move slow it is very inspiring to see Ukraine being creative and making progress unhindered by anyone. Slava Ukraine. Keep going forward.

Win-Win Cooperation is the only way to co-exist on this finite planet.
Each jet turbine costs around £3,500, add electronics and wiring plus FPV/GPS and youre at around £15,000, drop in your explosives (2 turbines = roughly 44KG thrust - with light airframe and electronics, you can do the math on explosive payload - lets say, a sack of cement worth of explosives) - and for a measly £20,000 a pop you have a miniature eurofighter drone. Average NGI missile cost? $111,000 a go..... so yes, these things are going to be raining downing everywhere in the next 3 months. Mark my words....
So, cost effective it is
Huh, didn't think they'd be that cost effective in war/combat situations. If all this is true then this will be be one, if not the most effective thing in the upcoming days of the conflict
@@ivander1511 this cost factor is the exact reason for why drones are as dangerous. it's not their strikepower, it's their quantity. Defending against them is expensive in terms of R&D and also equipment, compared to their cost per unit
@@ivander1511 I fly RC jet turbines, so I'm only estimating given what I buy things at (I'm sure they will be bulk buying) but yeah, a single turbine RC jet without FPV can be had for around £8,000 (say a hawk - I.e red arrows) but with long range/GPS and potentially FPV (depending if they're flown manually or pre determined targets locked via satellite) then £20k-£30k I'm sure is about right.
@@ahsokaincognito These things are ridiculously cheap. Consider this, an SM-3 missile... single.... costs $30k, and that's rudimentary, an everyday NGI missile costs $111,000 a go..... these turbine jets are going to be everywhere in the next 3 months. Its absolutely crazy, to think we are now living amongst toy story raining actual explosives upon us. I'm gonna keep flying my rc jets in the hills..... I'll probably be shot shortly as a terrorist threat. 🤣

World wide there must be thousands of small jet engines taken off business class aircraft the are unreliable for day to day service, but would run for 5 hours in a one way drone. Bad bearings, worn compressor fins ETC
they must be buying them up on ebay
Chinese made them too..
I bet they are using cheap civil modell tourbines. They cost around 2-5k€.
They carry a small payload thus limiting the damage More important strikes occurred such as the strike on the drone boat warehouse in Odessa evacuation of Kharkiv etc.
Beautiful 👍
The Ukranians should make drone jet fighters. Would greatly help with the air defense of the nation.
An interesting development.......
This is cool , but I keep thinking don't let your enemy know what your doing, or got. That's a nice secret weapon.
I have the same thoughts, but realistically I am sure the Ruskies will workout what they're doing and copy them anyway. Trying to keep it secret would be an advantage for no more than a week or so.
as soon as the first refinery is on fire even iwan will know what happened. If they fly low enough there is no chance to intercept
@@NoName-gx8bm but knowing Russia is slow, they might call it another example of friendly fire for who knows how long.
Belgorod is Russia. So Russia learned by being attacked.
Heard they are being used as decoys.
Jetdrones…
Wow Ukraine needs more funding, their prototype is crap
素晴らしいですね❤ウクライナ🇺🇦万歳🇺🇦❤
А это уже мощно...
You can get a DECENT hobby RV jet engine for about ten grand, if Ukraine is reopening their old jet factories to make these they likely can get the cost down even further. I was hoping to see something like this soon. Russia really bit off more then they can chew, it's Afghanistan all over again.
Would be great for recon as well.
These are cruise missiles guys this is nothing new in warfare and not some massive change. The cruise missiles just got smaller.
The small but significant difference is that one KM costs up to 1 million dollars. A small jet drone like this one here will be around 20k dollars. So instead of sending one, you can send 50. And you dont need hightechfacillities to produce them, hobby rc pilots do this for years at home.
Wow that seriously fast drone couldn't be powered by propellers but a jet engine. Bravo Ukraine !💪💪
that was a hell of an explosion from that ultralight aircraft . if that was a distillation column in a refinery it would likely be knocked out badly. also the jets are fast but have much less range than the ultralight. jets are fuel hogs . the higher speeds also have higher wind resistance. the power needed is a cube of the increase in speed. so 2 times the speed is 8 times the power needed to fight air drag.
There are commercially available small jet-engines that have been used on sailplanes to power them. There are also ultra small and light jet-engines that have been attached to a hang-glider. It was only a matter of time before the Ukrainian engineers started to adapt a jet-engine to their drones.
Those small jet engines Came from RC aircraft World...
Ukraine can take a lot of damage - they will not give up - now they do their own low-cost cruise missiles
Если они не сдадутся сейчас, то от них ничего не останется. Пустыня будет.
AS-1 Kennel ?
Trop fort bravo l'Ukraine
awesome...
Amazes me what the ukrainians come up with compared to the Iranian shaed this is silent and fast way more impressive for a country with no money to spare
The ukrainians know there stuff when it comes to drones its amazing what they can do with them
basically, Ukraine made a cruise missile. hope they will be able to make these in thousands.
Albheit somewhat smaller
Не смогут, потому что нет производственной базы. Да и это не они разработали.
Most probably there use drop tanks to go further out.
Now we both have these...
Wow 😮
Ukrainians are futurists 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Bravo for Ukraine, I'm just surprised they had not built jet powered drones much sooner. They can go faster and lower and evade Russian air defense.
Could be because they got military aid from the west under condition it was not used in Russia, now they don't get anything from USA so they probably feel free to attack facilities over the border
Excellent
They should have made jet powered Tomcat cruise missiles, could be smaller than the original, but a well proven design
💙💛
Slava
They're ingenious for sure. This is turning into another Afghanistan for Putin. Get out Putin whilst the going doesn't get any worse.....
Send more.
I think Ukraine has manufactured these, very likely using parts such as the engine, bought on the global market.
It is perhaps modeled after the Iranian turbojet powered Shahed 238, which has, I think, been used by Russia in Ukraine.
Треба з 10-20 таких дронів на мінімальній висоті знищити ппо біля мосту .
Now make it stealth, give it Flares and AI
Wonder what is the price on these jet drones 🤔
I fly RC turbine jets, just posted on this. With the double turbines and FPV/GPS around £15,000 a pop. (Not sure on explosive costs but if you said £5k on each they're going to be costing around £20k a piece).
Considerably less than a Russian tank. And of course, to Putin, Russian lives are chump change.
less than oil refinery facility
@@LetsTravelThroughTimeCan you calculate how much payload the drone can possibly carry? I mean it has 2 engines so the number's gotta be pretty big
@@ivander1511 I fully suspect that's the sole reason for the 2 turbines. A single £3k to £4k turbine will give you 22kg thrust, so at double 44kg, the airframe and electronics aren't that heavy. You can calculate the rest.... 😉🤣
This looks like my RC aircraft, just with satellite Antenna to remote control the Drone.
it is actually a British target drone "banshee jet 80" converted to combat
