Neon Gravestones is essentially about not glorifying suicide. We should celebrate life not glorify celebrities and people who take their own life. Again I recommend Kitchen Sink. It ties into the theme of finding something that only you know the meaning to and it will give your life meaning. So when you feel like those “Neon Gravestones call for your bones” so to speak, you can hold onto the knowledge that there’s that special thing that only you know about. I don’t know if that makes sense. But a lot of TOP songs sound depressing but honestly are about fighting that feeling and staying alive. Love you guys. 💕
@@wizzychap8230 in my opinion the lyrics convey the message of glorifying celebrities suicide. We pay no love an attention to some celebrities until they take their lives, posting messages about how they affected our lives after they're already gone. This ties in to the name, the neon gravestones meaning basically famous death. Neon lights are flashy and attention grabbing, highlighting celebrity suicides. He speaks on this in the song, basically saying he could cop out and get the fame by suicide but choosing not too.
Yay I suggested this song. The song is about not to glorify celebrities committing suicide and making it look like it’s an option to take your own life. also in the last few lines he is talking about celebrating life and those who are living and giving their best.
Tyler and Josh have created a fictional world for their listeners to fall in to (Dema). Leave This City really explains Tyler's mindset. Each album is a story track one to the end. Blurry Face follows a person down into their darkness. It starts with asking for help (can you save my heavydirtysoul?) and ends with feeling like a Goner and giving up. "I could be wrong..." Actually Tyler has gone on the record to say that he sees the fans as collaborators who contribute their own interpretations, and he will never say you're wrong. Basically, Tyler knows that a lot of his fans are people who have problems controlling their thoughts and/or actions, so if the sing he wrote has a personal meaning to you that helps you in some way, that's what the song was supposed to mean to you.
He explained it very well in Kitchen Sink that a song has different or even similar but never identical meaning for each person. Sorry for my english :)
There is something about this song that...I just can't describe it. It's so beautiful to me I just have to close my eyes and let the music take me away listening to this song. The BBC radio 1 version of this song (and of My Blood) is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard
This song made so emotional the first few listens, and I'm sure I'm going to cry a mess when I see them live soon. (Can't Wait!) Also, you guys should give a watch to the bbc radio 1 live version of this song. ❤️
The shows is amazing. I saw it in Florida. It is so emotional. And just.. Just wait. Singing "in time i will leave this city, for now i will stay alive" with everyone.. And us all choosing to be alive in that moment was one of the most profound moments I've had.
This song literally saved my life. An amazing, amazing song. I'm so happy that relistened to this song and decided to stay alive. Such an amazing band with amazing heartfelt intention and I will forever love this song.
I honestly love watching you guys react to these songs, because I can see you are really listening and paying attention, trying to catch everything that Tyler is trying to say. I'm also a relatively new fan of TOP, so I'm still catching on to some nuances that older fans figured out long ago. Nice to know I'm not the only one still learning about them.
Neon (like on spotlights) Gravestones, so they`re talking about how people that already suffers from depression, or any kind of mental illness, feel tempted to suicide and, on this modern age, with all the spotlights, they could just give their lives to "pass a message". Basically, he`s saying "instead of glorifying suicide, let`s celebrate life".
"I got back what I once bought back in that slot i won't need to replace" is the lyric I think and I think it implies that Tyler found a way to deal with his demons, or that he's gotten enough support to sustain and actually buy a new radio lol
here are some of my theories in the end when its like 'find your grandparents or someone of age, pay some respects for the path they paid, to life they were dedicated, now that should be celebrated' kinda means that they should respect people who stayed alive and "paved a path" for people that possibly struggle to believe they need to stay alive. and that an earlier grave is an optional way, suicide :/ and my perception of a neon gravestone is that neon signs want you to come inside the restaurant, and how maybe that the graveyard and other people want him to die "call for my bones" and he tries to stay strong like "but they won't get them.
Hey guys, Twenty one pilots actually preformed this song and a few more at my church, It is about struggling with faith while handling anxiety and depression. To say it takes me out would be saying misery loves company,,, spend your time with the true heros, your elders
Replace the word “it” with suicide and you have the meaning of the song “I could use the streams and extra conversations, I could give up and boot up my reputation. I could go out with a bang and they would know my name. They would host and post a celebration.” Meaning that it will bring attention to him if he killed him self but he won’t because suicide isn’t to be glorified.
The song is basically about not glorifying suicide and that in the end it’s not the best option “I could go out with a bang they would know my name they would host and post a celebration” and that he won’t mourn for someone that commits suicide just for doing it “I’ll mourn for a kid, but won’t cry for a king
You hit the nail on the head it’s about our generation glorifying suicide and Tyler’s own fight with suicide mentality and that if he was to ever fail in his fight, that he doesn’t want to be another person who was glorified more because of suicide than he was in life
It might not sound related, but visually, things connect. At the show, it kind of answers questions. Visual queues of colors when names(or other things) are said, symbols used, mainly the neon gravestone itself. (it's in the nico video) they really play attention to detail
Here is my take for this song. For Linkin Park fans, it is a known fact that Chester is a huge fan of twenty one pilots and Tyler must have known about that. However, he does not approved of people trying to glorify suicide. What LP fam did for Chester, from an outside perspective, must have come across as glorifying. Huge memorials everywhere, increased number of suicidal calls, etc. When Tyler said that part about "they can host a celebration".. Chester's official memorial at the Hollywood Bowl was called, "Celebrating the Life of Chester Bennington". When he said, he would cry for a child but wont mourn for a king, I interpret it as if a kid took his own life, thats a pity coz he didnt get the help he needed and havent lived much, but for those that are older, who has all the access to rehab and mental health facilities, it's a shame that it was not avoided. This part right here, I can feel the anger from Tyler. I know, coz im a huge LP fan, that fans have been tagging him over and over and over again for him to offer condolences in public (he did in private as per Mike Shinoda's AMA speech) but he never did publicly, maybe coz this was the silence era, but more so because he doesnt want the tøp fans to support and glorify this. Thus the line, "if i lose to myself, promise me this, that you wont mourn a day and move on to someone else". He doesnt want people to get stuck mourning, like what stan did to Kurt Cobain, to Chris Cornell, to Chester. He appreciates that there is talk about mental health because of this suicides, but he doesnt want this to be the choice or option of an artist to get back to the world when they feel the world has wronged them. There is an undertone that Chester must have felt like it. He is very close to Chris Cornell and people have forgotten who Chris is and Soundgarden/Audioslave is, but when Chris died, all of a sudden Chris was celebrated, his works put in a pedestal (NEON GRAVESTONE). This is at the same time that Linkin Park just released an album and that fans and the world diss them and called them sellouts. So in a way, could be that Chester was angry, as he gave everything to his art, took his own life as a revenge. And thats what Tyler doesnt want to happen to him and he wanted to make sure that fans understood that he if he ever took his own life, he shouldnt be celebrated. I personally think that Tyler is a Chester fan but he was angry when he wrote this, like some of us must have felt, and this is his way of dealing with the loss. I love both human beings. I miss Chester so much. And i cried so much when I first heard this and I hate to admit that Tyler is right. It felt like a direct attack but he needs to make this record and I understand that. It eventually became cathartic.
Neon gravestones is about how suicide and and mental health are glorified, and it’s considered “cute” He is glad that there is no more stigma around it, and how people aren’t afraid to talk about it, but Tyler believes that now the stigma is lost, at parts, So is its importance. It also shows that he, is still struggling with his own thoughts.
You were right. It *IS* about suicide. They help tons and tons of fans with their thoughts of suicide. Their deep songs help people cope with their thoughts and try to use them to do good.
Every time I hear this song it gives me chicken skin. When he says "...won't cry for a king" I always picture the shirtless Jeremy screaming under strobe light. Thanx you guys. Teach your children well.
@lenadov Uhhh……🤨ok, so (please correct me if I’m wrong here) I’m just gonna assume that what you mean by “it gives me chicken skin” is basically the same thing as saying “it gives me goosebumps” right?😉👍😅 if so…than yea my dude, I totally get that part! Now…as far as the rest of your comment goes, I uhh?……🤔🤷♀️……yea….idk wtf your saying bro!?😅🤦♀️😬so please feel free to enlighten me over here my dude, cause like…?…WHAT!?😂🤷♀️
@@sandrakiefler4649yeah, goose pimples :) Thanx for the clarification question. Pearl Jam; Jeremy. There's a line in the song that says ...King Jeremy the Wicked ruled his world. It's a song about a school boy who departed himself in front of his class mates :( The other lyrics talk about how he was ignored and unappreciated by his parents and bullied by the other school kids. This song (neon gravestones) says ...I'll mourn for a kid but won't cry for a king. That's the people on social media who support whatever the current thing is. Did that clear it up?
For the Q&A: What's your favorite animal? What's one of your favorite memories from your childhood? What is your ultimate goal for this channel? And for not the Q&A- Jessie Reyez is gonna be someone to watch out for. Can you do a reaction video to her? :)
I wanted you guys to react to New Perspective by Panic! But then I went and watched Nine in the afternoon by Panic! And I was like “omg they have to react to this” 😂😂
You are correct about what the song is about. It is talking about suicide and how society tends to glorify suicide. I think it's a very personal issue with Tyler because he refuses to talk about it in detail. To me, it is a very thought provoking and heartbreaking song. Not my favorite on the album but a very deep beautiful song.
Here is a question for your Q&A....When you guys started this channel were reactions something that you had always planned on doing or was your original intention something totally different?
By the time I post this comment you will already have people explaining this song to you so I am skipping all that lol. Instead I will say that one of the great things about this song is that, at least to my knowledge, the topic of glorifying and romanticizing suicide has never been touched on until now. I am so glad this topic is finally being brought up and I just hope more people hear this song and the message Tyler is trying to send out.
React to holding onto you by twenty one pilots and the in the behind the scenes of it in the noose scene you can tell something's really wrong Or migraine
Neon signs are made to attract you, therefore the phrase ‘neon gravestones’ is somewhat like a call to suicide. In the song, though, he talks about how the media portrays suicide as an option and he’s mad at that. It’s definitely deep and you guys should do some more research to make the song mean something to yourselves
neon is flashy... its obvious when something is painted neon... and gravestones obviously symbol death. "flashy death".... Tyler is pointing out how much this world glorifies suicide. "promise me this, if i lose to myself, you wont mourn a day. and youll move on to someone else" he's telling listeners that if he does "lose to himself" or commits suicide, dont hold him higher, dont take him and turn him into an example or hold him as a standard. he is saying that the idea of glorifying suicide needs to be changed because people will end up following the example TO get glorified.

What's my problem?
Well, I want you to follow me down to the bottom
Underneath the insane asylum
Keep your wits about you while you got 'em
'Cause your wits are first to go while you're problem-solving
And my problem?
We glorify those, even more, when they

Our culture can treat a loss
Like it's a win and right before we turn on them
We give them the highest of praise, and hang their banner from a ceiling
Communicating, further engraving
An earlier grave is an optional way
No

Neon gravestones try to call for my bones (neon gravestones try to call)
Call (For my bones)
Call, call, call

What's my problem?
Don't get it twisted
It's with the people we praise who may have assisted
I could use the streams and extra conversations
I could give up, and boost up my reputation
I could go out with a bang
They would know my name
They would host and post a celebration
My opinion will not be lenient
My opinion, it's real convenient
Our words are loud, but now I'm talking action
We don't get enough love?
Well, they get a fraction
They say, "How could he go if he's got everything?"
I'll mourn for a kid, but won't cry for a king
Neon gravestones try to call
(Neon gravestones try to call)
Neon gravestones try to call for my bones (neon gravestones try to call)

Call, call, call
Promise me this (call, call)
If I lose to myself
You won't mourn a day
And you'll move onto someone else
Promise me this
If I lose to myself
You won't mourn a day
And you'll move onto someone else
Neon gravestones try to call

Neon gravestones try to call for my bones
Neon gravestones try to call
(Neon gravestones try to call)
Neon gravestones try to call for my bones
But they won't get them
No, they won't get them
They won't get them
But they won't get them
Don't get me wrong
The rise in awareness
Is beating a stigma that no longer scares us
But for sake of discussion
In spirit of fairness
Could we give this some room for a new point of view?
And, could it be true that some could be tempted
To use this mistake as a form of aggression?
A form of succession?
A form of a weapon?
Thinking "I'll teach them"
Well, I'm refusing the lesson
It won't resonate in our minds
I'm not disrespecting what was left behind
Just pleading that "it" does not get glorified
Maybe we swap out what it is that we hold so high
Find your grandparents or someone of age
Pay some respects for the path that they paved
To life, they were dedicated
Now, that should be celebrated

That one dislike was Tyler's car radio XD
You were right. It *IS* about suicide. They help tons and tons of fans with their thoughts of suicide. Their deep songs help people cope with their thoughts and try to use them to do good.
Twenty one pilots is just deep I don't think u can look into it too much xD
Every time I hear this song it gives me chicken skin.
When he says "...won't cry for a king" I always picture the shirtless Jeremy screaming under strobe light.
Thanx you guys.
Teach your children well.
@lenadov
Uhhh……🤨ok, so (please correct me if I’m wrong here) I’m just gonna assume that what you mean by “it gives me chicken skin” is basically the same thing as saying “it gives me goosebumps” right?😉👍😅 if so…than yea my dude, I totally get that part!
It's a song about a school boy who departed himself in front of his class mates :(
The other lyrics talk about how he was ignored and unappreciated by his parents and bullied by the other school kids.
This song (neon gravestones) says ...I'll mourn for a kid but won't cry for a king.
That's the people on social media who support whatever the current thing is.
Did that clear it up?
They should've released this album before chester died so I could dedicate some songs to chester. Maybe then he might change his mind.

That piano it’s the third movements of something
You are correct about what the song is about. It is talking about suicide and how society tends to glorify suicide. I think it's a very personal issue with Tyler because he refuses to talk about it in detail. To me, it is a very thought provoking and heartbreaking song. Not my favorite on the album but a very deep beautiful song.
Wow saludos desde mexicoo!!

Please do a song from they’re first album “twenty one pilots”.
By the time I post this comment you will already have people explaining this song to you so I am skipping all that lol. Instead I will say that one of the great things about this song is that, at least to my knowledge, the topic of glorifying and romanticizing suicide has never been touched on until now. I am so glad this topic is finally being brought up and I just hope more people hear this song and the message Tyler is trying to send out.
can you react to my blood in the live lounge and trees live?
Kitchen Sink and Guns For Hands. Also, if you're going to react to Trees, react to a concert one. Trees really shines live.

It's great. All about celebrity suicide. Take a deep listen with the lyrics written out for you.
neon is flashy... its obvious when something is painted neon... and gravestones obviously symbol death.
Fairly local pliss pliss
