Hi everyone! I’m calling on the hive mind here for some help. I’ve had a couple issues in certain videos with a flicker after render. I have tried multiple different codecs but don’t know enough about those details to know exactly what is going on. Is there someone out there with the knowledge to be able to help with this? Thank you in advance! -Alix
The only odd thing I saw is the red line you drew in the beginning of the video showing the curve line was wobbling back and forth. Everything else looked great, watching on UA-cam via Chrome 720p on desktop.
Are there any framerate discrepancies between your source media and rendered output? Or perhaps you're rendering out with interlacing that's going screwy?
The only frustrating thing about this channel is that every time you upload these awesome quality 25+ minute videos, I'm left wanting to watch another hour or so of it. Great work guys, absolutely fascinating to watch.
@Clifton you have that right. Another great vid guys. You know, there has to be a "better" way to transfer the line from the lofting floor to the frame that does not use the nails... But I somehow doubt it would be as fun. (Van Halen's Jump is springing to mind :P)
This 'better' way would be ...? It's the step from two into three dimensions. I've learned to proceed said step some 33 years ago exactly the way Stephen and Alix (and Leo Sampson, by the way) do their transfer from loft to frame, and my teachers (three generations of boatbuilders in one yard ...) told me back then it was made like that "ever since". We tried other ways, put an episcope to work, put a beamer with "internal correction" to work in vertical or horizontal application, tried crossing vector lasers otherwise used to "burn" 3D forms from a tank of liquid resins and bored the hell out of a bunch of nerdy IT-students recurrently with our idea of "accurate" .... all with not the exact result the bloodily outdated roofing nail technique does still give You in terms of a correct sawline on Your frame off a wooden lofting floor.
Great shout out to Leo. What you are doing is so different from what he is doing, but you come to the same end. So many different skill set between the both of you. Have fun today, we are there in spirits.
Wow, just wow ! The work you two guys put in there is astounding. The molds construction was already something. Then, tearing your platform apart, building that huge "scafolding", and on and on... Simply amazing !
I don't comment on all your videos, but I have watched them all. I am absolutely amazed and fascinated by your tenacity and ingenuity to solve even the simplest of problems. Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing this on the water.
I first started watching wooden boat building videos with Leo Sampson in his UA-cam series, where he mentions you guys! So I started watching your videos and love them just as much and now you're mentioning him back. It's like I've gone full circle
Sorry I cant help with the video issues. Despite your concern over a production flaw, your content and passion is compelling and in my opinion is living proof that UA-cam has great practical and historical merit.
Jeez that was a ton of a ton of work but very nice result. The next few months will be very exciting for the viewer to see it all come together. And the open invitation for this weekend is very generous of you.,
Fantastic video guys! Excellent editing: great music selections and great use of segment structure: intro, description, timelapse, and summation. Of course the content is excellent too including the lessons learned. Thanks much for all the effort!
I have mentioned this way back but once again, you guys are awesome to do this project and showing the very details of it to us. Awesomeness !! Thanx guys and good luck with the rest of the build.
How unbelievably exciting! Its amazing how quickly this has gone from a pile of wood and trees to now you have the shape of a boat. It won't be long until you are putting furniture in it and soon after, the finishing touches. Keep up the great work!
Beautiful! Thanks for keeping this lost art alive! This makes my small scale wooden Skipjack models seem like toys. Looking forward to the next update!!
I am always blown away with the skill and talent you both have. I don't understand why some high school or shop class hasn't taken up this incredible project because your skills are so transferable.
I have watched a lot of boat building vids, some of which use this method of framing out the stations. Unfortunately they mostly seem to be in timelapse and do not show the detail of the rest of the construction, if at all. I am very pleased to know that I will get to see the process in great detail now, boys. Keep on keeping on.
Gentlemen! Another awesome video and I was shocked how much you accomplished since the last video. Now Arabella is really looking like a boat and a beautiful boat she is! Great work guys!
I'm just barely starting to spin up on a plywood racing dinghy project, and your explanation on where the molds have to be in relation to the station lines answers a question that's been nagging me since I started studying the plans. Thank you!
Well done guys! Glad to see you went with the laser, better to work smarter than screwing around with the plumb bob for hours at each station. Wish I could be there to help out!
that is going to be one handsome boat. i constantly have to catch my self at how such knowledge you guys have, surely driven by passion and determination. fair play lads ,
I have to say, when I first came across this channel, there was more talk than action, and it was difficult to imagine how quickly things are falling into place now. Congrats guys
We are sure many feel the same way. The beginning was a lot of prep work that did not lend itself to interesting video so it was a lot of talking about the plan and what was to come and why we were doing what we were doing. Now all the prep is done and we can just build! =)
Awesome!! She's starting to look like a boat, cheers from Chile! Being a huge fan of your project since the beginning, I would love to see her finished
Absolutely amazing! You should be very proud of yourselves. What an achievement already. This video made my day, no week! Thank you for sharing your journey. Keep up the excellent work from your friends in the U.K.
I don't know anything about boat building but I can relate to moving one thing and changing another. I have rigged bi-plane wings and that is just as tough and probably a little more critical in angle of attacks and twisting etc. Great job. Love the approach you make with your videos. Show the end product and then show the process. I'm hooked guys. I can't wait to see the rest of the build.
I enjoyed that video guys.. You put a lot of effort in the lofting floor, i'm glad it can be rebuilt somewhere else.. The computer animation really helped with your discription. Good luck with the steaming..
Love the videos. Thanks for making them. Boat building has always been a dream of mine. Watching you guys helps full feel it. Keep doing what your doing.
All I have to say is that it took a looooong time to get to this point. However, you are moving so much faster now! I surmise that you made very sure to have a solid foundation. I also imagine what is was like to put a craft like this together before power tools. Not to take anything away from your efforts. I have no doubt that you could do the same job with only hand tools. But I know you are glad not have to. Keep the videos coming. They are very enjoyable and a pleasure to watch as you share your journey with us all.
I thought the same about old style tools compared to power tools until I went and helped a traditional boat builder, you would be surprised how a sharp axe, chisel, can peel through timber in short order, I would hazard a guess that the number of boats built with old school methods far out number power tool builds in the world. 😀
For the build and the project as a whole we tried very hard to form a solid base to build on, it was slow to start because of that but it is starting to pay dividends =) For this type of construction I would wager you are correct. I can remove more material in less time and noise with an adze than I can with a router. The adz can also cut a compound changing bevel with no fuss or jig. The caveat is that it takes time to get good with the hand tools. If I built another boat like this the adz would play a much bigger part in the early stages. The lipped adz is a game changer and it only took 28 years behind an axe and another 100 hours or so behind the adz to feel like I am getting good with the adz. The background with the axe helped a lot although they are swung very differently. A few thousand hours more with the adz and I will feel as confident with it as I do with an axe.
Wow. It amazes me how quickly things start coming together once you're past a certain point. Now I know a lot of little things will be time-consuming but this must be very uplifting to see the boat take shape. Congratulations I am looking forward to Friday
So awesome!!!!... looking forward to the video. Regards to all. Haven't seen Pappy lately in the vids. Hopefully he's well. I still want to have a beer with that Guy!
Things are looking good, great work guys, I love watching the progress of this build. The sad thing is that once this is done there will be nothing else to see.
It is so awesome to see your progress! Keep it up. I f'n love Fridays when you post!!! I'm saving up to make a trip out there for the boat launch... No pressure!... I'll bring the champagne!
Finally, a wooden boat building technique I would be really good at! I bet I could jump up and down on the mould laminates to imprint the nail head marks just as good as you “experts”...... yup. If you do this again give me a call!
Golly! Now she's coming together with a whizz and a whack! Looks great and the final shape is revealed! It's interesting how the perception of size has changed. As a bare backbone she looked immensly heavy and long but now is showing her fineness and lines. Lovely job!
That she is, the feeling of the boathouse has changed a lot! She has taken over the space and it's wonderful to walk down her and see the lines change and flow.
Thx a lot for your marathonian endurance! Perfectly produced and edited episode. (and btw.I received my T-Shirt yesterday - it arrived in Germany, Southern Bavaria/Oktoberfest Country as people might call it. Be safe, KLG.
When you talked about not being stable, I thought of staging needed, then enjoyed you building it right in front of me, wish that could happen here for me!
I would love to come over Guys... but... I'm in the UK; a bit far 'methinks'. Its just amazing how you are both progressing and to see the moulds up gave rise to a great big WOW! from me. You two are awesome and on an truly amazing journey. I can't wait to read the book!?? MozZ ;)
That's looking good. Man I'm loving these vidoes hope y'all had a fun meet up and alot laughs and smiles. Uea I'll have to see if y'all got my size shirts or hoody later to support y'all. Have fun and God bless
what a great video - nice work, very informative. good luck with the steaming. can't make it down, but i'll be sending good wishes while i get greasy on the cars, and put up the LVLs on the addition floor.

So cool guys! It's hard to see how with all the top heavy weight of those molds & the stress your going to put on them that they hold in place with those small blocks that are holding them. Thanks for this awesome series! I guess I posted too soon, explained at 13:00. Thanks!
Leo, from Sampson Boat Company, gave you guys a shout out in his last video, and now you give him one! I think it is really cool when different channels I watch mention each other. I watch a number of sailing channels as well: Sailing Uma, Project Atticus, Adventures of an Old Sea Dog, Sailing Ran, and a few others. I also think it is great when the cruisers get together on each others videos. I'm really enjoying watching you build Arabella and if I ever get to the CT area I'll try to coordinate a visit just to meet you two. If not, maybe I'll see you sailing out there in the world some day. 2016 more days and counting for me....
SV Delo is incredibly well done. They occasionally do boat maintenance but 95% of their videos ares adventure and exploration. Perhaps in a year or two Steve and Alix will be doing those too!
It all looks great. We can now see a better mental picture of what the boat will look like. Can't wait to see how those narrow bands will hold up when springing the frame members. I am assuming the frames will be laminated too, the size you're saying seems a bit thin for an ocean going vessel (to me anyway, however, I'm no boat builder). Thanks again for taking us along on the journey. Yeah, I watch Leo's build too. He's pretty awesome as well. BTW, we would like to see more of Akiva, please.

Im sure there are 100 tutorials that can help you with your problem. If you are specific enough with you googeling, that is^^
I saw no flicker or unsteadiness watching on a PC in Firefox Browser. FYI
The only odd thing I saw is the red line you drew in the beginning of the video showing the curve line was wobbling back and forth. Everything else looked great, watching on UA-cam via Chrome 720p on desktop.

Waooo saya sangat senang melihat pekerjaan yang sodaraku lakukan luar bisa hebat, salam kenal sodaraku saya dari Indonesia🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩❤❤❤
Been seeing these videos pop up in my stream over the past year. Really a labor of love. This boat is gonna be something when finished
Woke up early drinking my first cup of coffee watching the lads building their dream
I'm speechless... thanks for sharing this with us!
Jeez that was a ton of a ton of work but very nice result. The next few months will be very exciting for the viewer to see it all come together. And the open invitation for this weekend is very generous of you.,
Going back and watching this in September 2022 is quite a journey. I really like how you guys spent time explaining the process.
Fantastic video guys! Excellent editing: great music selections and great use of segment structure: intro, description, timelapse, and summation. Of course the content is excellent too including the lessons learned. Thanks much for all the effort!

Your patience is amazing! It's not such a common trait in this modern world.
Lookin good! Glad u built the frame for strength. Good plan
Morning coffee and the Arabella build, I'm feeling inspired enough to clean the leaves off the deck today, right after a nap. 😀
Awesome! It is starting to look like a boat! BRAVO!
Congrat guys ! She really looks like a boat now ! Must be so fantastisk for you to have come till this piont in the build.
It looks like she's gonna have a really elegant shape when the planking is on. Fantastic job as always!
i was stoked to see another video update. Perfect. You guys are so clever. Just wow.
Beautiful! Thanks for keeping this lost art alive! This makes my small scale wooden Skipjack models seem like toys. Looking forward to the next update!!
Great job! Can't wait to see the first plank go up.
I am always blown away with the skill and talent you both have. I don't understand why some high school or shop class hasn't taken up this incredible project because your skills are so transferable.
We have had one school group come and are working on organizing the second =)
I am so glad I stumbled across this channel, keep up the great work , watching with interest from the southern end of Australia 👍

What amazing progress! Excellent video series.
Great explanation of molds. Starting to really look like a boat now! Good luck with the next stages. -John.
Happy Friday! That's a lot of work making the molds, only to take them out later. Kudos to you guys for persevering and staying on track.
Really great to see this big step forward in the build....no stopping you now, next video should be awesome.
Starting to look like a boat! Always excited when I see your videos in my feed

Absolutely fantastic. I’m loving every step of the way. Instagram is such a tease!
Thanks, learning so much ready for my not so ambitious project. Great explanation!!!!!!
Congratulations for the work, beautiful boat shape, great for sailing
👏👏
Wow. Great to see her lines. Hope all goes to plan this weekend im sure it will. Cheers
Amazing job. Fantastic progress video. Keep up the good work.

FASCINATING. Also: superb video in terms of content and editing. Well done and thanks!
Awesome work 👍! She is looking good.
Good luck with the steam bending! Great work and videos as always!
Great video and fantastic progress! Thanks for sharing the ride.
You Guys are amazing, great vids
It is great to see the shape of the boat coming out of a pile wood. Great job guys.
When you talked about not being stable, I thought of staging needed, then enjoyed you building it right in front of me, wish that could happen here for me!
its really taking shape now, great job fellas
I wish I learn how to do this someday ? Meantime I'm enjoying watching you guys.
I would love to come over Guys... but... I'm in the UK; a bit far 'methinks'. Its just amazing how you are both progressing and to see the moulds up gave rise to a great big WOW! from me. You two are awesome and on an truly amazing journey. I can't wait to read the book!?? MozZ ;)
good to see things are really moving along at this point
Looks amazing. Must be so exiting to see big things coming together.
Great work, can't wait to see the next video and the finished ship.
You two are amazingly creative at problem solving
Thank you!
Improvise, adapt, overcome! Great video!
How does one so young know so much, very much impressed,I will earnestly follow each video,so cool.
love , your work , dotn know anything about boats, but definitely i love seeing this.
That's looking good. Man I'm loving these vidoes hope y'all had a fun meet up and alot laughs and smiles. Uea I'll have to see if y'all got my size shirts or hoody later to support y'all. Have fun and God bless
Great video! Been watching Leo... new sub.
what a great video - nice work, very informative. good luck with the steaming. can't make it down, but i'll be sending good wishes while i get greasy on the cars, and put up the LVLs on the addition floor.
Great perseverance to get to this point boys! Almost time to walk in the frames!!!!
Just walked in 26 of them and it was glorious!
Hello from Romania ! I live at the foot of the mountains and the Black Sea is 600 km away but i became addicted of wooden boat after a friend of mine from the States brought me Ted Moores book Canoecraft. In my search on youtube i found you and i think you are awesome guys ! One day i will paddle my wooden canoe and i want you to know that you and other youtubers (like Sampson Boat Co or Tips from a shipwright), are very inspiring by doing a great work. And one more thing, you have something in common with place were i live: your tatoo with wolf footprint represent the emblem of Roman Legion VIII Gemina that was once detached here 2000 years ago. Please excuse my english.
Hi Ramona, No need to apologize for your English. It is very easy to understand. Better than a lot of "native English speakers" in my experience.
We agree with Wally! In any event you English is light years ahead of our Romanian! Ha!
Glad we can provide a little dose of inspiration!
Video played fine on my IPad Pro. Great video and nice camera work.
Its great to see the boat finally coming together. I subbed while you were felling the first trees and its been a cool journey so far!
Thanks for sticking with us! The start was rough for sure but we finally feel like we are starting to find our stride.
Truck yeah! Here comes the weekend. Thanks opening the shop again guys! Much love from the UK as always
You guys are dedicated and knowledgeable. You explanations make it easy to understand what you are trying to accomplish. It is interesting to compare your construction methods as compared to what Leo is doing with his remodel of his 100 year old boat. He certainly needs the angled bandsaw to get the bevels on the frames as opposed to your method of building the frames.
True! That man has more work ahead of him than we do!
So cool guys! It's hard to see how with all the top heavy weight of those molds & the stress your going to put on them that they hold in place with those small blocks that are holding them. Thanks for this awesome series!
I guess I posted too soon, explained at 13:00. Thanks!

Hey! I didn't see Sailing SV Delos on your watch list. Surely you know about them? Best sailing around the world video production of them all.
Yeah, I watch Leo's build too. He's pretty awesome as well.
BTW, we would like to see more of Akiva, please.
You have a boat guys - great job!
ONe of my favorite videos so far!! Awesome job, keep it up!
Superbe travaille a l'ancienne, merci beaucoup !
So epic guys, well done! Happy steaming this weekend - can't wait to see the result.
Finally starting to look like a boat!
Bad ass. Love the work and can’t wait to see more.
now it really starts looking like a boat, nice work guys :-)
