Everyone talks about the greatness of Amitabh and Dharmendra in the movie, but two characters that were so powerful in this movie, was that of Sanjeev Kumar and Amjad Khan, without which the movie would not be complete! The way Amjad Khan acted in this movie, was raw and real, impossible to imitate such a powerful persona!
Your right Sanjeev Kumar and Amjad Khan gave powerful performances in the film no actor could've played Gabbar Singh better than Amjad Khan I know that originally they offered the part to Danny denzongpa he was a good actor but he couldn't have done a better job than Amjad Khan for playing Gabbar Singh

Every scene in Sholay is copied from Hollywood. Even the actors style, the way they speak, their dresses and even their colours is copied from Hollywood western movies. Salim and Javed are good writers no doubt but if every thing in a movie is copied or stolen from others no one should praise them for this movie.

@@sawankumarchoudhary6407 and I would suggest you to watch the Dollar series of Clint Eastwood and the ‘once upon a time in the west ‘ movie and see how every scene of sholay is copied second by second.nothing is original , not a single scene. Not only the scenes , the mannerism, the laugh of Amjad khan , Amitabh Bachhan playing harmonica, Amitabh’s denim attire, his hairstyle, his angry man persona , Dharmendra’s funny persona everything is copied exactly . Unbelievable how these guys of Salim Javed fooled Indians by copying content from west and made all that money. Just makes me wonder that all you needed to become a successful writer direct producer in Bollywood was to take annual trip to US , get or watch tonnes of Hollywood movies and write down the scenes.

My mom saw Amitabh in the airport when he was coming back from some shooting in 1979 and she spoke to him. He was a nice and a humble person. I am 6ft 5 and my mom told me that he was considerably taller than the 6ft area in charge but not as tall as me and according to her he was easily in the 6ft 2 to 6ft 3 range at that time. By the way a master piece movie which can never be replaced!
