Wonderfull content! Finaly a good, informativ video about set Cubes. Buying sleeves in bulk is something I starte quite some time ago. Another benefit of doing this is, that it allows mash-up-drafts. Mainly 2 booster of Conspiracy and 3 boosters of any other set, for an interresting draft experience. On the topic of nubers of commons: for a rule of thumb I take as many commons as needed for 1 and ½ Times the number of boosters I need. The exact number is manly determined through playtesting. For example Khans should be finde with 4 Sets of commons, but 5 Sets seem to be more close to the original set.
I had never thought of having the sleeves for mixing with conspiracy... that is an excellent idea. You could also use it for booster tutor in an un-cube. You could randomly pull a pack from a set cube to be the pack for booster tutor.
Dominaria is a great set cube. One thing to mention to is that sometimes it's good to reduce the number of uncommon/common copies if the card is insane. For instance , even though Icy Manipulator is an uncommon , I only run one in my Dom cube because of how good it is.
If you are running a cube on a 3:2:1:1 there would be 160 uncommons. only 2 of which would be icy. this would be roughly 50 packs for draft (3 uncommons per pack), and a pod of 8 would use only 24 of those. Therefore, you would still only average 1 icy per draft, and sometimes none, and sometimes 2. That is really fairly reasonable.
@@cubefortwo That's true. It's more that it's power level is above many of the rares and mythics in the set so I basically upped it's rarity artificially. I wanted to make sure only one is seen per draft .
I just bought cards for a Dominaria cube myself! I'm actually trying a 3:1:1:1 ratio though, because I'll never do more than an 8 pod (most commonly I'll do a 2 or 4 player draft honestly), and one of each uncommon still provides enough packs. I'll have to see if I like, or don't like, the non-repeating uncommons though and may up it to 2 copies of each.
Because I guess I really like challenge and for my life to be difficult I decided to make double feature be my first cube XD lol and so far I’m making a lot of progress and it’s set up to where if I wanna do MH or CV separate I can do that as well
Maybe a little late to the party, but I'm gonna make me a Conspiracy: Take the Crown cube for 4-player pods. Thing is I'm gonna cut down on cards severly because thats about 480 cards when you count by the 3-2-1-1 method to come to about 360-400 cards.
Great video and I just was thinking about buying all the same sleeves recently, so thanks for confirming this works. I am working on a Shadowmoor Block Cube, but have made it Singleton and have left a few card slots open for really decent peasant cards (Murder, Rabid Bite, 3 sets of dual lands.)
Great Video, it is missing the section about how to draft tho. After all going by ratios to emulate store experience is useless if you just throw all cards in a pile and shuffle. Imo method 1 is where you should cut bulk, add power and do the fully randomized draft, while 2 and 3 should try to emulate pack distribution as close as possible.
I want to make a return to ravnica, gatecrash & dragon's maze block cube. That is a lot of cards tho so im stuck if im going method 1 but add 4 of each guild and duel lands for mana fix or should i go method 2ish and put like 3,2,2,1 maybe to be able to play more rares?
I was going to build a multiplayer cube *after* I took my main cube to 360 (currently 180). But now I'm thinking about building a "noob cube" using 8th, 9th and 10th edition cards *before* I finish my main cube in order to get more people into it.
That is not an uncommon idea. I would advocate opening it up to any core set. They are all designed for intro players. It will give you more cards to pull from, and make your archetypes easier to fill out. That said, you are also welcome to follow you bliss. But on to the most important question when building any cube, what basic lands will you play? Can I suggest white bordered? ;-)
@@cubefortwo I like those in particular because all keywords have reminder text (if memory doesn't fail, if I'm mistaken of course I would use cards from all sets that do have reminder text for haste, flying, etc.) I have to strongly disagree on the white border cards tho :p (regarding lands, I just plan to have a box of sleeved lands to use for all cubes).
@@cubefortwo Sadly I can't share pictures here but I've been slowly altering the lands myself (I began by altering cards that were heavily played when I got them, next in line is a zuran orb that is even missing a piece)
@@FelipeBudinich No worries about the white border, I will say they are easier to pull out of decks at the end of the draft. I am playing Urza Saga basics in my main cube.
Im planning to do an innistrad cube (but not only with original innistrad, but rather with EVERY innistrad set ever released) would that even be possible? Or is that a bad idea? I mean we already got 5 sets and this fall 2 more will come
Great advice.from set cube i own dominaria 5-3-1-1 and aforementioned Innistrad 3-2-1-1 (almost complete).i look for advice on booster making especially on commons. 2x5 each color and 1 artifact doesnt make sense. Total randomisation either. Something in between? Im A bit stuck
Which method does your family’s cube follow? Do you recommend separating the cards by rarity after the draft and building packs with the defined ratio? Or do you just shuffle them all together so some packs have all commons or sometimes multiple rares?
So, we are a bit OCD, we keep the rares all shuffles together, and the uncommons shuffled together. The commons are separated by color, but then shuffled. This way when we create the packs the commons are very even, but the uncommons and rares add some randomness to colors in each pack.

Hey, this helped me out a lot . I'm going to attempt a Throne of Eldraine cube.
I am glad. We are going to talk about set cubes again on the podcast again soon. You can be on the look out.
Let me know how this goes. I love Eldraine and want to build one myself.
update us if you ever have a list to share! :)
I second the update on how good of a cube Throne makes for! I'm eyeing it up as a potential set to cube because it looks really fun.
Yoo same I’m been struggling for a few months now I’ve almost got one of every cards but I think I might at eldrazi or something to make it different

I usually save the extra 40 + sleeves for tokens or when sleeves in my set cubes starts to tear of age for example^^
