This is a Minecraft 1.16 Mod that allows us to see Minecraft from the 2D perspective! This was super cool and a new way to experience the game! Even though this may have seemed easy, this challenge was actually difficult! Will we be able to beat the game? This was a lot of fun and I love doing challenges like this with my friends. - Ігри

Judging by how things played out, I'd guess that this mod was more for us viewing it in a 2D sort of way, shown by how they saw many things (like the pillar in the end) off screen and how the UIs never popped up for us. I bet it was a bit jarring to only run in a line though for them, but it wouldn't have been too great from their perspective, so the special camera makes sense.

It looks like they had set up the coding to keep them in a line based on when Sapnap punched the skeleton into the lava because the skeleton’s arrow went into an invisible block so..

This is very similar to the game blockheads that I used to play with my cousins, this brings back some great memories.
If you are using sodium, that's probably why the water looks glitched. You should be able to fix it by tweaking a few settings.

Just to clarify: they aren’t actually seeing the world from 2D, they set up another POV which explains them seeing the stronghold before it is even if frame, them not collecting iron that is 2 blocks above them and the furnace and crafting table GUI not appearing on screen.

Imagine a challenge where players need to collect as many unique death messages as possible. This is something like that challenge to catch different mobs. Players cannot see the messages of their rivals, so they cannot steal their idea, they can only see the points being awarded. Like, for each unique death, the player gets 10 points, for a repeated one only 1 point, and extra points for the first unique death (like, if you are the first to die from a zombie, then you get extra points, and the one who dies from a zombie later than you will not will be able to earn those extra points). There is a time limit, only one hour for the whole game. And the one with more points wins. I think this idea would be interesting.

1 point for a regular death is too much, you can just set up a bed on a dirt pillar and farm points easily

You just need to distribute the points so that it is more effective to die a new death than to repeat the same one over and over again. Maybe you can just set the rules against spam death, or how about every 5-10 minutes to change the spawn point to a random one in the world. Or disallow the use of the savepoint altogether. In general, you need to complicate the game so that it is necessary to come up with original methods of death.
