Definitely is the hydraulic jacks reservoir that holds the hydraulic oil in this video as several others have pointed out. I wonder why they didn't make the tank/reservoir out of a hard plastic or metal, maybe expansion? I'm an A&P Mechanic BTW. For approx. a hundred bucks it's worth it in my opinion to get one because it won't be used much except in emergencies usually. Especially for the Wife's car in case she gets a flat or needs air to fill a tire up. Good video, thanks for sharing us the inner workings of these jacks.👍👍
I think this way the hydraulic pump will never suck the air in and also with hard canister for oil you would need a vent which could leak, when not in vertical position. Actually this is very smart design, it should run in any position, even horizontal.

I just subscribed. You are my sort of person. Since I was about 5 years old, I tore things apart. When I was 16, my dad bought my mom a cheap nasty GM station wagon of some sort. It needed engine work, so I stripped the head off, I mean, why wouldn't you? Figured the head was not flat and needed machining, put that in a towel and on a trolley and walked the mile or so to a local machine shop. My dad was furious (he always was, total authoritarian type, Air Force engineer - a thrashing always resolved his anger). Got the car working within a few days, fixed the brakes as well. Passed my test in it. That was nearly 50 years ago. Anyway, I service my own Harley (nearest dealer is hours away, and who trusts dealers anyway?) and I have a 'new' old stock Harbor Freight lift table (they changed the design years ago, but this one was sitting gathering dust in a neighbors workshop, never been used, still in its box). The hydraulic bottle jack and its mount is totally different from the modern one they now sell - the pump and release are under the bottom, whereas they are now at the side like normal bottle jacks. I reckon the jack is rated for about 2 or 3 tons at most. It is foot operated, but awful. Slow and bounces the table all over the place - which is not good with my motorbike on it. So, as I am a qualified electrician anyway, I figured get an electric jack. I saw the Vevor electric car jack online. That led me to you and this video (I must go and watch your other videos). There must be a factory somewhere in China churning out these mechanisms by the thousands, and then the 'brands' simply put a different color case on them, and their stickers. That boot will be the reserve/overflow air 'tank'. There will be a valve from that to the air jacket inside the stem itself. This will regulate the airflow to make it smoothly go up and down. The motor will be pulsing air into that black boot or pumping it out, and the valve keeps the flow constant. Your setup needs a fuse of course. My guess is that the column won't keep air very well, but my lift table has lock off points that it drops to for safety anyway. I might also make use of the air line for my tires on the bike.
One other thing I noticed. At 19:14, note in the top left you can see in the metal body of the lift an allen grub screw. This is the 'emergency' release. In my case, it would be preferable to have a lever attached to this, to release the air and let the weight of the bike slowly lower the bike lift table. Given where the grub screw is, I would need to use something like a Right Angle Drill Attachment with a Flex Shaft to reach the outer edge of the lift base, where I can attach a wheel or something, maybe a mini ratchet socket wrench. Ideas are flowing.
yes and there a conduite taking it from that reservoir most of the time you jack side way with a lot of humidity you to open the cylender clean the rust and this is where you loosing hydrolyque oil and put back thing together you can pout a flat seal will be stronger
Could this be used instead of a hydraulic system to add a dumping bed to a trailer or an arm-mounted front bucket or fork to a lawn tractor? This electric ram is a lot simpler than an hydraulic cylinder, lines and pump.

There are lots of options. Normally, I'd just suggest using an old battery charger (not the smart ones). But these days, you can buy a very inexpensive power supply off of Amazon. For that thing, you could just get a 12V at 20amp power supply (just search for that). They are usually flat in a silver metal case. Some are adjustable others locked in at a certain voltage. I have several. Most of mine are of the adjustable type so that I can power different things at diff. voltages. They are not expensive and they, so far, have worked nicely. Hope that helps.

One thing I will say, 5 tons these will NOT lift. 3.5+ is what others have tested them at. But that's all I need.

Probably a hyraulic oil reservoir. Good for emergency tire repair. I have this one but i also bring a scissor jack and a bottle jack just in case.
