One of the things I've discovered about books which haven't sold, or have sold few copies is sometimes changing the look of the cover, and finding something more appealing to the eye has brought me sales for a book that I thought was basically dead. I guess it's true that people do judge a book by its cover. Good video. Thanks for sharing your information.

Great tip! You're right, the cover is extremely important; it's the first thing a customer sees, and it has to appeal to them visually if they're going to buy it.

I love your videos!! I’ve been publishing low content books since 2014 and sales started tanking last year, probably because of competition. I’ve changed my keywords up a bit and now sales are going back up.

Glad your sales are up again! You did the right thing by making some tweaks to see if it helped!

Hello 👋 I've just started the low content and no content books. So far I think I have about 8 online. Time is an issue but I'm hoping to make time to get more up. I'll be watching more of your videos!

Great content Rachel. Well organized, not a lot of fluff and no music (thank you for that!). I subscribed.
Some ideas of topics I would love to see you cover:
**Use of emojis in descriptions? Tacky, or depends on niche?
**How many different covers do you recommend for a specific interior? Do you do slight variations on interiors?
**Do you target non-English KDP markets? If so, what type of research do you do, and what resources do you recommend?
**Pricing (which you have covered in part): do you have a particular strategy? Like starting low and increasing if it sells?
**Any strategy on subtitles? Do keywords matter more here than in back-end section?
**Any issue in having listings with the same title? Would Amazon not show them the same way if it thinks it's repetitive? If that's the case, would you recommend slight variations on the title?
**Do you do most of your titles on front or spine?
**Any advice/tips on workflow? Like keeping track of your assets, templates, graphic files?

Hi Lance! Thanks for the compliments! Haha, I know exactly what you mean about the music. That's one of my biggest pet peeves about UA-cam videos. These are all great questions! I've just copied and pasted them into my file. I'll either answer them in one of my Q&A Thursdays on FB Live, or I'll do a video here, depending on how long or short the answer is. Thanks for these!

Hi Rachel, thanks for these impulses. Do you recommend to set the marketplace to US even I publish from Germany? And what do you think of publishing an English and German version of each book? Thanks in advance for your reply 😊

Hi, I'm really struggling with categories. For example, my girlfriend has taken some really nice urban photos of architecture, streets, etc. And I'm thinking of putting out some journals with lines inside and some nice covers with warm, cozy quotes. Which categories and keywords are good? And also if I make some books with funny sayings, for example about engineers, how do I find the right category?

Rachel, I am really enjoying your great information and experience as you express it here, it is extremely helpful. It is nice to know that I am not exactly doing things wrong, but perhaps I could make some minor adjustments (e.g. keywords) that may tip the scales. I like your message a lot. Also, you are a natural at this whole teaching thing, LOL! Thank you for sharing your experiences! 😉

I suppose what confuses me is, you know, even if you've validated a niche, and your designs are as good or better than the competition - what is going to make people buy your book? Keywords yes, but what if the top sellers have dominated the most used and lesser used keywords? How do I even get 1 sale from this niche?

    • @RachelHarrisonSund

People will buy based on how your book looks, all other factors being equal.

Do you know why Amazon would hide my description? Odd on my main seller. I opened it back up inside the site and it's there. Not on the page. I noticed a bunch of weird things. I had another book I just put up they put it under some weird category I did not pick. Then the category disappeared. I think the back end is a mess right now. I fairly new. Only 4 weeks? Or so. I'm having a nightmare with how long it takes to generate to review the book. Then there's alignment errors. I think I know why on one portion. When it clicks me out after I ok the cover , it shifts the cover. Something off in that process. I don't know a better way right now.

I'm not sure why Amazon would hide your description. You can email them if you think that something weird is going on. Regarding categories, Amazon will place your book into certain categories if you've used certain keywords. You can ask them to remove it if you don't think it belongs there. For the covers, are you using a KDP cover template? That should solve any alignment issues. You can download a template from the KDP site.

Hi! Great to hear something professional on publishing! My big question is about "category relevant" and "kw research techniques" that you have applied to old book to increase selling. Can you please tell me which techniques?? I'm very interested
