Your music is still at work
R.I.P Gordie, you will be greatly missed
I was lucky to see him performing live at Dundas Square - 2014 . RIP. Gord.
From America. We miss you Gord.
Still tears in 2020...we miss you Gord!
My favourite live concert, Kingston🤘🤘🤘
This is so painful to watch today 😭😭.. Such an amazing man/musician.. You’re strangeness will live on forever Gord!
So Sad
Great job City News Toronto....thank you so much. R.I.P Gord
For a poet, a songwriter and the lead singer from my all time favorite band, I'm left speechless. There are no words that I can think of that do Gord justice. RIP Gord and thank-you.
It's a sad bitter day...a true artist and human being. Rest easy Gord...a nation grieves for you.
We all know that musicians pass but this passing was a big lost for us Canadians we will miss you gord
We miss you Gord Donnie 2022
I feel bad for the rest of the world. They don't know what they missed. Buffalo loves The Hip.
Gord Downie, poet, singer, Father, beloved Canadian. Thank you for the music, and thank you for standing up for First Nations issues. you will be missed....
RIP Gord... 🌹
That's so true when he said "You're gonna miss me, wait and you'll see, fully and completely"
Now I'm stuck with the feverous dream.
I could never reply to ... How's the concert??? About any band this way..... only the Hip.... the concert was intense. Cuz that was the level of emotions this man would put into it. A lot singers belong only in a recording studio.... this man belonged on stage.
Front and center and gave each and everyone of us his attention and of course with his will and determination skill and it's frustration he had Grace Too.
In every city and town ... street. Every Time Hortons drive thru.... all radio stations are playing your favorite Hip song on this day and your hearing it and picturing him at this moment
We are Gord Downie today on this very day. Miss you buddy. Love you friend.
Well said man~
RIP GORDIE BABY YOUR A CANADIAN TREASURE
Gord, you were amazing with endless love, passion and such touching and meaningful lyrics....You and your music will forever live on in our hearts R.I.P 😭
This was a big lost in Canada and we miss him rest in peace
H. E. R O. - they dont make them like this anymore :(
Thank you for soooooooooo many great songs! R.I.P Gord.
It's really cool how a Canadian icon pleaded to our Prime Minister to take indigenous troubles seriously, and then years later there's not really much to show for it. We can do better.
I heard it in the drive thru at Tim Hortons in Winnipeg about the saddest news in our lives.
Lil tears. Went back home. Going to work late today. Playing Hip songs on every radio station. 92 is now on it's 5th song in a row.
It's like an earth quake ripped thru the country
Nice tribute. Sounds like a life well lived. Good for him.
Thank YOU Gord !
Rip Gord. No words.
R.I.P GORD DOWNIE ❤️❤️
Read this on a billboard just West of Napanee shortly after he passed: "We looked up to the Gord above and said hey, man, thanks" How true.
Why d
That book and movie was so emotional I recommend it!
Sad day, great lyricist and entertainer .RIP
R.I.P.....too soon.....oh god I can't bear this....
He will always be AHEAD BY A CENTURY RIP GORD :(
Gee..how original
😭😓😪
Man it sucks that all these spectacular singers are passing away, Tom Petty, Gord Downie, etc. They're gone too soon. R.I.P Gord Downie you were a legend and still are.
So you're saying that singers should die six months apart. I guess the devil's forming a new band
tbh i never listened to their music before. Could anyone recommend some songs to listen to?
undercurrent I recommend the track "Grace, Too"
R.I.P. Gord, thank you for making some great music throughout my formative years with your fellow band mates in the Tragically Hip!
R.I.P Gord, Canadas best kept secret. All the best to your family, friends and all of Canada. Some of us in Florida are heart broken too.
R.I.P Gord. You are missed. The Hips Legacy just started. Thank You Gord Thank You
Give it some time for his body to cool down before you miss him.
You will be missed R.I.P Gord Downie Thank you for what you did for us Canadians your turn to play for the man upstairs never be forgotten 😪

Sad day for all Canadians....and well done CityNews Toronto.
Sad day for Canadians? Really? I guess you speak for all Canadians
So much for the guy to do it 🤮
Thanks, Gord. Hard to say much else. Rest easy, Dark Canuck.
We don't mourn a shooting...We cry for a man who brought hope...THIS IS CANADA
He was also bestowed an eagle feather by the Assembly of First Nations and an aboriginal name, Wicapi Omani.
In Lakota it means "man who walks among the stars".
Also made an honorary Elder....
RIP.
Sitting here in Fran's restaurant and the TV has Gord Downie's. RIP to Downie, one of the most iconic Canadian singers ever!
R.I.P we will miss you
Rip gord downie you were the best
Perhaps a good dose of CBD oil could have helped diminish the tumor or at least alleviated much of the symptoms at any rate a great man and musician is gone, but will forever live in our hearts. The impact you left in such a short period of time is profound!!
Am I alone among Americans in not having a clue who Gord Downie is? In my 65 years, I've never even heard his name uttered.
Listen to "New Orleans is Sinking" by "The Tragically Hip"......then you will get a taste....Enjoy.
Btw, we are happy they never hit big in the states, although they have a huge following.....ua-cam.com/video/ttY766CIOik/v-deo.html
Thank you for posting that. I didn't mean to be snarky, but am so used to Canadians (if they are good) coming to the U.S. to make their art, a la Drake, Gosling, Bieber, Ackroyd, Sutherland, etc.... He seems like a good person and died way too young.
@@donbrown1284 He is literally everything you want a role model to be. Kind, intelligent man, full of emotions, not afraid to show them, and Canadian to the core.
you are in everyone's heart for family chc and trump or people of music you want the best just like a dream for each . tears of love tears of sad we will be waitting here and song Bryan Adams would sing baby ur all I want were in heaven u are free to fly to laugh and u shine right now for all chc and everyone watching he this man is in peace of our 💖🙏 so many words to say but we will always hear the music and feel his soul around all. amen keep strong trump keep strong chc keep strong to all who new him amen
RIP Gord
Tragically Hip.
To im
Tragically Hurt.
Sorry... not to sound like cheese.
Still can't believe it.
I don't speak or write good about death. Death bothers me because I'm alive to see it surrounding all of us every day and Gord's death bothered me very deeply.
But you all speak well of him so I've been reading beautiful things about Gord and it's nice to see
RIP Gord,G.O.A.T Canadian musicians!
Wow what a horrible weeke for Canada..first John dunsworth ( jim lahey) and now gord downie and they say it usually comes in threes. I heard Micheal J Fox is losing his battle with Parkinson's, I really hope he isn't next because that would devastate me :(
Will he be cremated and buried in a Tim Horton's cup?
Never heard of him....may be cuz he was Canadian like city news said in their report they were Tragically who???? in America lol...but after listening to him thank God didn't heard of him
I must be one of the few Canadians, that hated his voice, i know, I'm bad
I downvoted you, but I'm Canadian, so... SORRY.
"Has died" seems a little crass, I'd appreciate it if you could say "passed away" next time for our beloved citizens.
AAaaaaa passed away... aaaaaaaa. Does your mummy still tell you about Santa and the Easter Bunny
Passed isn't correct, honestly. He died. We all will. It's sad but we were lucky and still are to have his music.
Nicole Marie it doesn’t matter it makes no difference but passed sounds better
