I'm am not diabetic but I know a few people who struggle with it. Your videos are so eye opening and truly let us see what it can be like to have a health challenge like this. I've had COVID and I can't imagine having to deal with the added stress of having diabetes. I am happy you and your boyfriend are recovered. Happy New Year and thank you for your videos and spreading awareness.

I'm not diabetic, but I am diagnosed with hypoglycemia (opposite problem-----fun times!). One thing I've noticed is that stress makes the sugars do whack a mole stuff with one minute we're at 120, next we're in the 60s. Add in the whole PMS versus blood sugars issues, and for me eating glucose doesn't work the same way (it has to be real food) and it's CHALLENGING to keep stable sugars when you're sick! I've resorted to sippy packs of baby food for nutrition for when I'm sick.

I have a 12 y/o son that is a diabetic. When he got covid in 2020 he had 1 maybe 2 days of feeling really bad. Stayed in bed all day, had ketones, couldn't keep much down, had fever. The whole 9 yards. Almost took him to the ER as well. Once the nausea subsided he was all good. Now he has had stomach virus a few months after that & I did take him to the ER with large ketones & hours of not even being able to keep stomach acid down. Got 1 bag of fluid & zofran & we were good to go. We got a prescription for zofran from that & it has helped us in 1 covid case & 2 stomach viruses over a span of 3 years. If you could having zofran on hand is very helpful.

I'm at the back end of a cold, I had a faulty Lebre sensor on and it was saying my levels were perfect. I changed my sensor and can't budge from about 12 - 9 mmol/l no matter how much Insulin I take. It's the first time I have been sick with diabetes. I have only been diagnosed with type 1 for 2 months. It's such a roller coaster. Watching your videos on here and TikTok has really helped me and made me feel part of a diabetic community. Thank you! I had Covid, the first time being sick since diagnosed with Type 1. Insane. My blood sugar wouldn't respond to the Insulin. At the same time, my Dad was declining and I was the only one able to be with him. I didn't think I had Covid, didn't have time to think about it. I had a treatment protocol I started right away - I was fortunate I didn't get it as bad as my boyfriend did. My endo and the patient portal saved the day. She guided me all along. She asked if I had a Dexcom and I did - she would have given me one. I felt horrible, mostly from the emotional drain of my Dad and the constant High Blood sugar. I also have an adrenal issue so I got to pump up my steroids and I do believe that kept Covid from getting worse.

But my sugar just would not budge. The second time, my sugar stayed elevated for the two days that I actually felt sick. And the third time, everything stayed normal.
Also congrats on 100k+! I recently found you through shorts and loved your energy and humor! Especially since diabetes can sometimes not be the most humorous thing. It absolutely gets me through some of my rough days.

First off, Congrats on the YT Plaque! That's an awesome milestone. As for the virus, sorry to hear you caught it. I haven't had it, but I'm so scared for all the reasons you mentioned. Diabetes and being sick don't go well together. EEEK!
I also wanted to mention, which isn't so helpful know but just in case you don't know. Shoppers and most pharmacies now carry Dexcom supplies. So if you are ever in a pinch again, there you go. Would be out of pocket though. Congrats and keep up the great videos.
I love what I eat in a day and content where you actually show your sugars and what you'll bolus for certain meals. Helps others (me) to see how others Carb count. :)

Also, my diabetes is typically pretty good so I don’t have as much of a problem with illness. Can you make a video of the cgms and pumps you’ve used in the past?

I had COVID around the same time. My blood sugar wasn’t really affected but I never thought to check for ketones! It was horrible though just being sick. Glad you’re feeling better!!

Luckily my 9 year old daughter hasn't had COVID yet, which is crazy lucky as both me and my OH got it and so did her sister she shares a room with. We love your content, she's been diagnosed for almost 3 years now and your videos help and entertain both of us so thank you

Not diabetic but I had COVID while I was 4-5 months pregnant. Husband got it first and so I tested myself and it was negative but knew I was bound to get it. I’ve never really been super sick before (no flu) but covid when I did test positive hit so hard. Husband was just super tired but I had a fever and low oxygen levels. I couldn’t move but knowing I had to eat and stay hydrated (which I think helped in the long run) I forced myself to eat and drink electrolytes. Was so nauseous but only threw up a few times over the 10 days. My lungs were trashed for weeks after. Lucky that it happened so early in the pregnancy because I would have been hospitalized most likely. I wasn’t able to move from bed for like 6 days. My husband just slept for like 3 days and was fine.

When I had covid ( i have had it 2 times once in 2020 and and time in 2021) and my blood sugars I think At least they were high I felt like doing nothing and just not too bad but then like idk 5 days - 2 weeks later I was better and I could head on back to school overall it was just horrible .

I didn't had covid, but Influenza in December. I had a fever for about two days, painful coughing. At some point I threw up from ibuprofen and coughing. Luckily my best friend could drive me to the doctor (both wearing masks) so I could get proper medicine. These few days were horrible. Positive thing out of this, I am soo grateful now being healthy (not yet 100%, but getting there)
