This incident hardly lasted 10 mins. Cops arrested 6+ people or so. It got sorted fairly quickly.

The organizers are Conmebol not USA, Conmebol choose to pay for the more cheap packages in security for the this particular stadium
The security situation and management of the games is awful; i attended the Argentina-Canada game with my family and it was incredibly poorly managed; they let out everyone at the same place and everyone was funneled through a horrible bottleneck, the tunnel that leads to the American Dream mall. there were very few stewards and security and the crowd had no idea what to do. if that was a game between two more equal fan bases in size or there was any animosity or even just a panic it could have been a disaster. Was very scary for anyone with small kids. This is not to mention lack of support for parking and exits. Very bad and even dangerous management.
It's totally shameful but I guess they don't feel any respect in competitions from developing countries.
I was at Metlife Stadium for Chile-Argentina, with my daughter. Exiting the stadium was a nightmare. The security staff completely overwhelmed, We were packed at the entrance of that tunnel, for 20 mins with almost no moving. I told then my daughter to step back. Finally after 2 hrs we were able to hop on a cab ($100 for a 20 mins ride)

The translation/subtitles are wrong. Go to 00:48. He is NOT saying "there isn't an avalanche", he is saying "there WAS an avalanche pressing upon our families". It is confusing cuz he starts saying "no...", and he immediately changes his intonation to mark that a new utterance/sentence starts. So he uses the "no..." merely as a thought marker. So, there WAS an avalanche.

I was there for the final yesterday and he’s absolutely right. It was a hot mess and extremely dangerous. Fans were left outside the gates for over an hour after the match was supposed to begin so they just bum rushed it in the end.

I was in Dallas and I expected a good field, yet you could see the patches all around the field. The Stadiums are not built for Football, they are just build for American Football - I don't know if you have ever been to any stadiums in South America but you can visualize things. While in the US American Football Stadiums you can't visualize anything - they are simply not build for Football. I heard the same critic from German fans who I spoken to that went to a few matches.

Literally had a similar situation with Brazil and Argentina like six months ago during a game with very little importance after organizers didn't feel the need to separate fans and people started yelling for it never to happen again. Exactly why in Europe and Latin America supporters of different clubs are separated into divided sections. Makes for a better atmosphere and much better security.
Isn’t it interesting how Copa has been so much more violent than the Euros? From tackles in game, to fights during the matches, to elbows being thrown (this match), to fights between fans in the stands. But nooooo, race is a social construct, we’re all the same :)
I will have to digress. Uruguay and Argentina are, I'd say 95% European. But they are also violent brawlers. Over time they developed their own "culture" same as how the US is different from Britain in many aspects.

Why not we have the resources to organize a sporting event like the world cup it's the fans that don't know how to behave when alcohol is involved or when their teams lose, especially the Latino community that take the games personal.
I live in Charlotte. I guess the local police have never heard of fans attacking the families of opponents players during a game. I guess something like that had never happened here but is normal in their culture?
I'm Uruguayan and unfortunately I have to admit there's some of that. Conmebol knows futbol culture in South America and has a lot more guilt than the police for this mess
