I feel like olives will always sit on the medium scale, never extremely cool or warm. I don’t know how to explain it any better but I learned I have to choose colour that are medium intensity, leaning slightly cool but not too icy, and leaning slightly dark but too dark. Just seem to be a medium on all 3 colour spectrums 🤷🏻‍♀️

Are you really pale by any chance? This sounds just like me, my closest foundation is L’Oréal true match 0.5N, even then it’s a touch too yellow. I am on the cooler side so I find myself debating between true summer and true winter. Although I wore a red-orange top the other day and got a compliment on it so that seems to be an outlier.

@@DannersKananers yes I am really pale in the winter but tan ok in summer. In summer I too can get away with pulling some warmer colours. But my ‘warm’ colours aren’t actually that warm when compared with true spring colours

I just figured out today that I’m pale cool and slightly olive. Fenty 145 conealor blended with my neck. The concealor next to it was pink and 145 was definitely green by comparison. Mind blown. I’m cool but olive. I remember my mum having a very coral lipstick and my telling her that it wasn’t her colour. It made her look ‘swarthy’. Now I realise that was also olive. Mind further blown.
Edited to add that Fenty 145 is counted as warm olive.
I’m not sure if warm olive foundation necessarily means I’m warm with my undertone.

You nailed it for me! It is very evident in the winter time that I have cool undertones. I am absolutely in the cool colour palette and a winter. Purples, blues, turquoises, bright pinks, and black are my go to colors to wear. However, in the summer my surface tones create a very golden tan to my overall skin and complexion (and I use spf 30 all over daily). During this time, I can wear rich camel/tan colors for a "neutral look". Thank you for visually helping to clarify that yellowish or golden skin tone is not warm, it is truly OLIVE (yellow + blue = green).

Love this simple and easy demonstration!
This is exactly the case for me, cool undertone, but warmer skin overtones. Neutral foundation shades work for me.
I only look green when I wear the wrong shades of red and green that can bring it out.

I’m Mediterranean and have struggled with my undertones for so long, I’m supposed to be warm toned bc I see yellow and green in my skin, but when I dye my hair neutral dark brown or black, my eyes pop, and I look great in greys, black, pastels, and jewel tone green, whereas when I’ve had reddish undertones and caramel lowlights, I’ve felt washed out. However the lighter hair looks good on me when I’m tan 😭

I never realized how olive skin toned I was until I had a red headed daughter I have a photo from when she was a baby and I was cuddling her. She looks so pink and healthy and I looked so green like actually green I looked sick in the photo. It was such a sharp contrast that it stood out and I think it was so apparent because she was a baby and she was a lot pinker as a baby.

So nice! I'm a Scandinavian light olive in winter but I tan rather peachy, which was always confusing in terms of deciding my undertone. I had my colour analysis done 6 months ago and was told I'm a soft autumn, so neutral leaning warm. Makes sense with how my skin changes in the sun! I also work as a makeup artist and I often find my clients with olive skin tend to suit cooler tones in terms of blush/lips/eye coloyrs the best. Often they tan very golden, which can be so confusing! Especially if they are darker, they just look golden and bronze after being in the sun, not at all like my sunburned mess of a skin. They will then still suit the cooler tones the best, which has been mindblowing to discover. I couldn't be able to see it without colour analysis!

I recently found out I’m a dark winter, with very pale olive skin, kinda yellowish, sort of asian looking, with freckles. I have black eyes and really really dark brown hair almost black. I have high contrasting features, and warm colors and pastels make me look awful, almost orange.

As an half Indian, half Irish I got a pale (not fair) skin. People always comment on my « tan » olive skin since for Canadian people I’m not white. For years I did wear wrong colors. When I started to read about olive skin tone and realized that olive are not just warm tone it change my life, the way I dress and wear make up and jewelry.

I struggeled a lot with makeup. Everything was either too pink or too orange on me. Normally I'm really pale, so I always look kinda sick, finding make up that pale was already hard, but with green? Just never really happened. Growing up I mostly just looked washed out in neutral colors but it was the best match I could get back then. When I tan (I tan really bad, it takes soooo long for a little bit - but I never sunburn too) you clearly see the greenish-greyish tone in my skin (my hair is a dark ashy, nearly-black brown and I have really dark brown eyes). I absolutely love the tan shade I get and I totally understand how that many people ask, if I'm mediterran or from the middle-east because I totally match the skin tone (or at least what people think people from there look like).
At the moment I'm using alima pure satin matte foundation in olive 1, I'd say it's a 99% match. Their buttercup primer works well for the redness in my skin. Other than that the wonder foundation serum in fair from plants are purple is pretty close even tho it looks a little bit flat on me but evens out with the alima foundation powder on top. For eyes, lips or blush I use rosy-warm colors, browns, dark reds and plums. Everything on the warmer side most of the time.
For clothing I have a few colors that look really good on me! Dark blue and really light blue looks pretty good, same with blacks or plums and dark reds. Mostly leaning into the warmer side but I can pull of a few cool toned colors like dark purple or a dark emerald. Warm army green works pretty good too even tho its green, same with sage green - mostly in summer - and dusky pink all year around. Also browns or greyish-browns work fine.
What I absolutely can't wear are many pastell colors or really bright cool toned ones (except the one bikini I just bought in bright orange, that one looks good but I already got a light tan, so I'm not looking that sickely anymore xD). Just makes me look weird 90% of the time. Cool colors like Teal also need to be dark enough or its.. Mhmm idk, makes me look sickly pale. And cool light purple? Love the color but I absolutely clash with it, it's fine if its mixed with greyish undertones tho. Pure grey on the other hand really depends on the shade. Some just don't look good. Mostly in the medium range I need to pay attention. 😂

This might be me though maybe not extremely? My skin is medium to light and I do think I lean neutral, but my skin definitely has that yellow tinge to it (mixed east asian). My tan is sadly kind of grey-tinged and even more yellow, so I actually try to avoid it whenever I can. I prefer being pale bc I look "clearer" rather than kind of muddy.

Yes cool tones can have freckles. It is a common misconception that fair skin is cool and darker skin is warm. This is the skin tone and not the undertone that is being considered. Two very different things :)

I noticed i need color due to my skin having no natural blush. Its almost Grey. Thats how olive i am. Grateful for bronzer. Also I noticed hair color can change my neutral olive to slightly warm or cool .

I was light blonde as a kid and am quite pale and was always typed as summer inspite of my golden/olive skin but then I went dark blonde in my late twenties and now with my hazel eyes it's very obvious I'm a soft autumn, I wear soft autumn and soft summer well but definitely lean warmer. In winter I'm almost shockingly green and the tanner I go the more golden I become.

I am an extremely pale Eastern European. I am really pale in winter, so that my husband often says my skin colour looks green. I habe problems finding a foundation, because they are either yellow, or pink pr orange on me, and most of them are never pale enough. But yellow-toned ones I can get away with the best. My hair is brunette and my eyes are green. My veins on the wrists appear both green and blue. I feel like spring palette fits me the best, but I can also really bright pink/ fuchsia and royal blue. I am totally confused about my season 😢

I Hate it when people use RBY Primaries >_< RBY is NOT a Set of Primaries.... Subtractive Primary like in paint, ink, dye, crayon, pencil etc.... is CMY... Cyan(Short[Blue]+Medium[Green] Light Wavelengths being bounced off and into your eyes), Magenta(Long[Red]+Short[Blue] Wavelengths [w/o Med] being bounced off), Yellow(Medium[Green]+Long[Red] Wavelengths bounced)
Red, Green, and Blue are the Additive Primaries aka Light Primaries, because those are the ones your Eyes actually Pick Up on, those are what your Cone Cells are Cued to, and that's why those are the ones used by Monitors & TVs
Red+Green+Blue makes White Light; Cyan+Magenta+Yellow on Paper or Canvas makes Black.... you know what Red+Blue+Yellow makes? Brown, and do you know why? Too Much Yellow aka Too Much Red being bounced back into your eyes and Not enough Green wavelengths bouncing off, if you substituted the Blue for Cyan it might work, but it would still be off in the Blue Wavelengths then, so you need to switch out the Red for Magenta as well... Brown is the kind of color you get when your Primaries aren't working right... its why Blue + Yellow makes a muddied Green rather than a vibrant green
