Don't let my corrections fool you, I learned a lot from this video. I wish you were my study buddy. I swore on a stack of bibles no one could ever get me to understand how to add values to the quadratic formula and then solve. I memorized the formula long ago, but I still had no idea how to use it. I think you were the one that finally did it. Another problem I always have is taking a word problem and turning into an equation I can solve. You were a big help there. I'm always trying to use too many variables instead of just expressing several of the different values in terms of x. I'm always trying to go (a + b + c + d = y). I don't need 4 different variables to represent 4 different people when I can say (x + (x + 15) + (x + 15 * .5) + (x-5) = y). I also had no idea I didn't know the formula for the surface area of a cone until now. I also thought I knew everything about percentages until I tried to calculate the negative percentage change in a salary. And then simplifying an expression by factoring and foiling to check my work was super helpful. The more I think I know, the less I know... ya know? Anyway, thanks for the video. I know this must have been a ton of work to put together. Good job. You rock!
@ 21:46 when you say isolate one of the variables, speaking from experience it's all hieroglyphics to people who don't know. It helps to say (you're going to subtract (y) from both sides of the equation) which gives you x = 30 - y. Otherwise, they're just watching a variable jump from one side of the = sign to the other without any understanding of why it jumped. Also, as I'm sure you already know, you can multiply all terms in this particular equation by 4 if you want to eliminate dealing with decimal points.

The question 55 is simplified incorrectly. At exactly 1:56:50 You added 6x + 50x , you ignored the negative signal. the correct was to subtract -6x+50x which is 44x.
Question 19: For scientific notation, the coefficient (the first number) must be more than 1 but less than 10, so choice A and C can be eliminated. And the exponents given make neither B nor D are correct. The correct answer is 1.678 x 10 to the 5th power.
In question #20, Jake's room is not geometrically possible as drawn. Since the radius of the circle is 10, that would make the diameter 20. But, the side of the square is only 14, so the picture does not make sense because the diameter of the circle appears to be about half the side of the square when it is actually 6 (ft.) longer.
I think there is a problem with question #68 at 2:16:50. Either the radius or the length of the enclosed square in the helipad is misstated. The radius, although not explicitly stated but used as the radius in the calculations, of one of the four circles is given as 5 ft. That would make the diameter of each of the four circles 10 ft. But the other measurement of 20 ft also appears to be the diameter of a circle. Thus there are two different diameters for identical figures. If we are to go by the 5 ft measurement because it is used as the radius in the answer calculation, then the length of a side of the square is 10 ft making its area 100 sq ft, not 400 as stated in the answer. Thus the total area should be 100 + 157 (the four half circles) or 257 square feet which is not listed as an answer. Am I missing something? The diagram is very confusing
Nadine this is AMAZING !!! Congratulations 🏆 on this accomplishment. Best of luck for the next chapter in life for you and thanks for taking the time to drop me a line, it means a lot.
When plotting inequalities on a number line if the symbol is (less than) 4 you would add a circle to 4 as well, but not filled in, a hollow circle, then a solid line with an arrow heading left, meaning less than 4, but not including 4. If it was a (less than or equal to) symbol you would have the same thing, but in that case the circle would be filled in meaning less than 4, but also including 4.
Question 68: If you are saying that there is a square in the middle of this figure, and the side length of that square was 20, then the diameter of each half circle that bounds that square would have to be 20, making the radius 10.
On question 55 when combining like terms of the numbers raised to the 2nd power you missed the negative sign on the -6. The correct answer is E) 9x^4 - 45x^3 + 44x^2 +10x
Wow, 174 !!! That is FANTASTIC, Poonam. Congratulations and all the best for the next chapter in your life. Super excited for you. Thanks for dropping me a comment, it is much appreciated.
most of the people said that science test is all about reading comprehension , dependent and independent variables, ecosystem, forming an hypothesis, scientific experiments, punnet square, and some math problems. is that right?
I have decided to get my GED at 53 years of age and I have been watching a lot of these videos, but most of them go over how to solve problems, but don't explain the areas of the issues, like why are an x and x, why is y, y, etc how do you know to do algebraic equations? I have taken 3 pre-tests so far and passed, but I know my problem areas will be math, language, and the arts. I am trying to pass these tests as a personal goal that I actually should've achieved a long time ago but kept putting it off.
Good luck to you ! This is great. I would suggest for the pre-test make sure you pass with a margin We usually get stressed during exams and that can lead to mistakes. Review your exams if you can to see where you are having issues, and have sure to review that really well. Good luck !You got this !
Question 78 the capital B in a formula means (base x base) and small b means (base), so the formula is actually 1/3 x height x base 1 x base 2 The answer is 96,000 square ft. not 1600.
Thanks Adrian, sure thing. In the meantime I suggest you look at Light & Salt learning GED calculator on UA-cam they have a ton of videos on how to use the calculator for different types of problems.
I have a question; would you ever be willing to cover the other subjects too, like the extended response essay or RLA comprehension/multiple choice for example? Or do you prefer to stick to math on this channel? (Which is more than enough, it's amazing!) There's just not a lot of videos out there on this, and you're an excellent teacher, and very thorough, so I thought I'd give it a shot! 😅❤❤
question 85: it says what is the probability of him getting tails if he flips a coin, doesn't say what is the ratio of the number of tails he got. I think the answer is still 1/2 because nomatter what you got in the past it is still a 1/2
@@GEDmicrolearning what omg? So there are errors in here! Thanks to 22doulos22 for questioning most of the problems in here and making corrections. However, than you for your time...

Question 78 The capital B in the formula for the volume of a pyramid represents the "area of the base." The question states: "with a base of 60 ft." It does not say "60 square feet" which is how area is expressed. So, this was confusing.
I promised myself if i passed this test after watching this video i was going to comment about it. This video helps in every single way! Not only for Math but also for Science. Wow @Shannon Rodriguez thank you so much for kind words 🙏 . I really means a lot. Most importantly, congratulations on having passed your GED math test . That is FANTASTIC achievement ! Congratulations and best of luck on the rest of your journey 🏆
On problem 88 when you total up the values contributed it looks like they only spent $342.50 out of the $350. Looks like one of them pocketed the rest.
That depends on the person, but for example if you do the free Algebra 1 course on Khan academy that's 16hrs worth of videos. I would check them out, and that will give you a better idea of how much time its going to take. Best of luck!
Question 13 is extremely confusing. I get you do parenthesis first, but I still don't know how you get the answers in cleaning up. I don't understand at all.
I pause the questions and try to answer them myself before watching your explanation. On question #55 you changed choice D to a completely different answer at the end of your explanation. Going crazy trying to figure out why my answer was so wrong 😭 Also, -6. Also, still a helpful video 👍🏻
Thanks for the feedback. So in the first part you are using the distributive property, this means that you have to multiply the sign outside the brackets by everything inside the brackets. For example if you have - (3 + 2x) you multiply the negative sign by 3 and the negative sign by 2x so - (3 + 2x) is the same as -3 -2x. The second step is to combine all like terms, so you will add all the terms with x together so 2x+5x = 7x, and all the whole numbers together 1+3 = 4, all the terms raised to the second power etc.
Question 65 - It's easier to calculate the radius directly, by using the 'Circumference of a circle' Perimeter Formula of C = 2∏R, there's no need to use the other formula, it is a waste of time!
Question 20: There is nothing in that problem that would allow you to know you were dealing with a 14 x 14 square. In math problems such as this, just because something "looks" like a square does not mean it's a square. You cannot "assume" anything. The answer to this problem is "Not enough information."
Hello. I'm going to be taking my GED soon and I was wondering. On question 28 as I was calculating I used the Pi button to calculate the answer and I got 167.551. Now I realize you used 3.14 to get the answer and in turn got 167.446. My question being: what should I use; 3.14 or the Pi button? Thank you!
Good point political potato, the Pi button probably contains all the numbers that make up Pi. By convention (for simplicity) we use 3.14 for Pi . My guess would be that in an exam situation, they wouldn't give you an answer option where this would be an issue (or if it does become an issue, you would be able to challenge the response).
@@GEDmicrolearning Already, thanks for the response! Also by 'challenge' do you mean that I can dispute the question as unfair? I do not plan on abusing such a system but it would be good to know. Thank you again!
If you look at the graph it represents 550 beverages . The RED portion of the bar graph starts at 400 and goes to 550, so that tells you there's 150 coffees
please correct me if I am wrong, the final answer for this problem I think should be 720 not 870 because when you add the 3 side =2550 which should be 2400ft. 1120-400=2400

Candace that is WONDERFUL ! Congratulations on this achievement. The sky's the limit ! Best of luck in the next chapter in your life !
Did they ask the same exact questions on from this video on the math test or similar questions?
@@ptiogourmetet9842 Yes the questions on @mircolearning video's are similar to the questions on the test.
Congratulations 👏 👏 👏
I'm so grateful for you. You have no idea.
Thanks so much, really appreciate this
Corrections :
: 5(3) - (-2)^2 = 11, not 9. So the answer will be 121, not 81.
: The corrected answer is 1.678 x 10^5
Yes, if you look at the bottom of the screen you will see a tiker tape appearing with the corrections.
On question 55 when combining like terms of the numbers raised to the 2nd power you missed the negative sign on the -6. The correct answer is E) 9x^4 - 45x^3 + 44x^2 +10x
Anyone else notice in question 11, 25:13 that answer D changed from 15.3 to 15.53? 28:15
Thanku so much for ur help i passed my GED i scored 174 today
Wow, 174 !!! That is FANTASTIC, Poonam. Congratulations and all the best for the next chapter in your life. Super excited for you. Thanks for dropping me a comment, it is much appreciated.
this is a brilliant video 👍 but i purchased my GED certificate frm deelscafe cause i needed for a job real quick and it came out really nice 💯
I’m also interested to do it, could you tell me please?

i passed my math and science test with 167 and 149🔥
I've pdf books and many videos, glad to help🙏
Congratulations!!, would you please give me some tips for the science and math test?
most of the people said that science test is all about reading comprehension , dependent and independent variables, ecosystem, forming an hypothesis, scientific experiments, punnet square, and some math problems.
is that right?
Great video and well explained. Thanks for sharing.
Question 78 the capital B in a formula means (base x base) and small b means (base), so the formula is actually 1/3 x height x base 1 x base 2 The answer is 96,000 square ft. not 1600.
For question 11 why did the answer choices change?
Happy New Years!.Your videos are so helpful, was wondering can u do a math test on how to use the GED calculator?
Thanks Adrian, sure thing. In the meantime I suggest you look at Light & Salt learning GED calculator on UA-cam they have a ton of videos on how to use the calculator for different types of problems.
For question 70, you have to assume that 1 cubic inch of wax weighs 1 ounce to get that answer. In math, you cannot assume.
Thanks very much ! I'm afraid I only do math, but Khan Academy I think covers other topics too. take care
The B in the formula used in problem 78 is the area of the base not the measure of the base.
question 85: it says what is the probability of him getting tails if he flips a coin, doesn't say what is the ratio of the number of tails he got. I think the answer is still 1/2 because nomatter what you got in the past it is still a 1/2
10:58 15-(4) = 11, not 9. The area is 121, which is not one of the choices. Right?
correct. I put the correction in a ticker tape at the bottom of the screen.
@@GEDmicrolearning what omg? So there are errors in here! Thanks to 22doulos22 for questioning most of the problems in here and making corrections. However, than you for your time...
@22doulos thank you for the corrections I knew something was amiss in most problems on this video and makes me feel uncomfortable watching the video further...have my exam tomorrow will go to the main website....😬
@@joyobessa1364 I wish you the best! Try to relax (Yes, I know that that is hard.) and just keep moving, picking up as many questions as you can. Let us know how you did.
@@joyobessa1364 I did not get through all the questions. Got a little side-tracked with life. I might go back in the future and do the rest.
I appreciate this so much for this I take my math test on the 31st of this month. My last test. I'm binge watching your videos till then. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Best of luck to you !
I have a question at the 10 minute mark can you explain to me how 15-4 is = to 9 not 11 ? didn't see the correction at the bottom of the screen but still appreciate the video helps a bunch.
Stuck on answer on question 57. How did you get the answer A=123 from A=1/2 (246)?
Question 78 The capital B in the formula for the volume of a pyramid represents the "area of the base." The question states: "with a base of 60 ft." It does not say "60 square feet" which is how area is expressed. So, this was confusing.
Hello thanks you for the information...the test for 2022 year is the same as the 2023....
Question 55, when symplifing -6x2 +50x2 why you get 56x2?????
exactly!!!! she forgot to add the negative
yeazh yezh
Great videos thank you helped me a lot pass my test today with a 152.
CONGRATULATIONS LA RADAR 32 !!!!! That's amazing, well done 👍 🎉
I promised myself if i passed this test after watching this video i was going to comment about it. This video helps in every single way! Not only for Math but also for Science. Thanks so much Abdirahman ! Glad its helpful.
I will watch these videos for 4 days straight
Hi! Do you have a website to take the practice test?
I don't , sorry ! Make sure to take the free practice tests on GED.com though.
Question 70 why you don’t convert cubic inch to ounces please answer me
If possible 10 Pemdas questions and 10 exponent questions, you explain so well , but I need more fundamentals!!! Thanks
I disagree with problem 6: the problem asks for the # not the amount like the answer suggests.
Good afternoon Dr. Can you have more Pemdas and exponents?? Still rusty and I’m taking the exam in Early May ????? Please!!
I should take my last subject at home to finish off nicely. Anyone know if I could use a laptop or does it have to be desktop
On problem 88 when you total up the values contributed it looks like they only spent $342.50 out of the $350. Looks like one of them pocketed the rest.
Hello
do you have all these questions as a pdf please ?
Hi Ebtsam, I'm sorry I don't have a pdf.
I want to thank you for this video
Today I just passed Ged math test
I am going to take science test
There is any video can help me to pass it
??
@@crystalandbella5110 congratulations ! That is wonderful ! Ebtsam, 'm currently only doing math, but try Khan Academy for science.
How long would it take for me to learn algebra 1 from scratch?
That depends on the person, but for example if you do the free Algebra 1 course on Khan academy that's 16hrs worth of videos. I would check them out, and that will give you a better idea of how much time its going to take. Best of luck!
Question 13 is extremely confusing. I get you do parenthesis first, but I still don't know how you get the answers in cleaning up. I don't understand at all.
I still don't get how you got that answer on question 24. Completely lost me at 4.37 answer to turn into fraction.
How you get the answer for question 28? How do divide 1/3 after you multiply 3.14 with 160? I'm lost on that.
Thanks for this video!!
i love you GED microlearning!
Thank you Andrew !!!
I pause the questions and try to answer them myself before watching your explanation. On question #55 you changed choice D to a completely different answer at the end of your explanation. Going crazy trying to figure out why my answer was so wrong 😭 Also, -6. Also, still a helpful video 👍🏻
Thanks for the feedback FRB, we missed that. Good luck on your GED!
I don't get question 40 on how you broke it down.
Ah ok I got it. I'm one of those that learn very differently.
Thank you
@@VEGETALADY82 great, I'm glad it makes sense now ! Good luck

Question 65 - It's easier to calculate the radius directly, by using the 'Circumference of a circle' Perimeter Formula of C = 2∏R, there's no need to use the other formula, it is a waste of time!
how did you get 150 for question for question 4
I have a question on # 28. Isnt (4) to 2nd power 16?
4² was multiplied to the height 10
4²(10) = 16 times 10 = 160
I love how methodical this is. But Hope you will edit Queston #5, 15 - 4 does not equal 9
Yep, we made a mistake on that one ! The correction appears at the bottom of the screen in a moving tiker tape.
Question 20: There is nothing in that problem that would allow you to know you were dealing with a 14 x 14 square. In math problems such as this, just because something "looks" like a square does not mean it's a square. You cannot "assume" anything. The answer to this problem is "Not enough information."
question 5 : 15 - 4 = 9
wow amazing this is what youre teaching
🤣Abdul, you missed the correction at the bottom of the screen, please check again.
@@GEDmicrolearning oops okay

Question 4: how do you get 150 coffees when the graph shows 550? Why do use the max number of juice but not the max number of coffee?
If you look at the graph it represents 550 beverages . The RED portion of the bar graph starts at 400 and goes to 550, so that tells you there's 150 coffees
please correct me if I am wrong, the final answer for this problem I think should be 720 not 870 because when you add the 3 side =2550 which should be 2400ft. 1120-400=2400
I think the answer to 5 is each side equals 11 and 11 x 11 = 121. 15 - 4 does not equal 9, it's 11. The answer is not listed.
Thanks,you're the best❤❤❤.
Thank you Myint Myat ! You are very kind. I'm glad its useful !
