The Real Story Behind Odd Muse With Aimee Smale
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 кві 2024
- It’s safe to say that Aimee Smale has had a whirlwind few years. Aged just 21 she left her job at Asos to found Odd Muse, a fashion brand known for tailoring and sleek silhouettes. She openly admits she had no experience running a business, yet within her first three months, she’d made over £100,000 after her designs captured huge audiences online.
Now, Odd Muse is going from strength to strength, opening their first permanent store in London this year. I can’t wait for you to hear Aimee’s story. If you’re sitting in a full-time job and you’ve ever wanted to set up your own venture - this episode is for you.

Now THIS is an interview!!! I loved how you got into the intricacies of how she started because I think a lot of interviewers glaze over this and it’s so refreshing to hear about MOQs, dip in sales, looking for hero products, hiring your first employee, managing 35 people, using other skills to get enough funding for your first stock. This is literally the playbook that is missing in so many successful founder interviews. You and Aimee really went in deep and I love it!! As a person running her own fitness brand in South Africa I really needed to hear that I’m not alone and that everyone navigates this. Thank you so so much Grace!
This is by FAR the best episode - more convos like this please Grace 👏🏾
Aimee's biggest asset is her transparency 👏 great podcast
Making £12k in covid through graphic design (when you're "not" a graphic deisgner) is absolutely mad! So inspiring!
I think the same for design in her dresses is apparent in her logos! An eye design is an eye for design, no matter the method that’s used 👏
So happy about this collaboration! Best interview 👏🏽
Honestly this is such a fab episode!! I follow both of your journeys religiously and am a frequent shopper of both your brands!! Love this podcast episode
Okay, I'm just going to go ahead and ask what we now all wish for: Aimee, can you please drop the step by step guide, please?
LOVED this ep! more like this plz
Such a valuable episode, thank you !
The clothes are wonderful, I wore the pearl dress as my wedding dress, but I can hand on heart say that OddMuse had the worse customer service I have ever dealt with from a company!
I think she should spend some time with that department, it isn’t just myself that has had this type of issue!
Love your podcast and the guests you bring in they are each inspiring and unique, thank you 🫶
Thank you!
The honesty of this podcast and of Grace and her guests really makes me not want to miss a single episode! 🫶🏻
Thank you so much, that’s really kind!! 🥰
Omgsh what a lovely Monday surprise 😍😍
Really enjoyed this episode! Already loved Oddmuse so this was a great watch ❤
I've been watching your videos since you were studying and just cannot believe the powerful and strong women you have become, I admire you so so so muchhhhh!!!!!!
Amazing episode! So inspiring!
I bought the white cap sleeve dress in the first drop and I've made the money back on By Rotation, it's THAT popular. Fair play to her, massive props for going with her gut.
I'm planning on a small business and the nerves are so real. This has been a really helpful video.
You two together are the DREAM! Loved watching 🫶🏼
Loved this and also need that Tala knit asap! 😍😍
Love how much Aimee talked about creativity, allowing space, it comes in waves and you just have to ride it. So true, and not something that is talked about enough as founders!! At the end of the day the brand is here because you created it, so you need to allow that time moving forward to continue to create and elevate 🖤🖤🖤🖤💫💫 Odd Muse is my work wardrobe so thank youuuuuu girl 🖤🖤💫💫
Anything that is rushed never last 💯 I'm happy you didn't fall into it deep. But all in all, this episode has been one of my favourite ❤thank you for sharing it with us ladies 🌹
Lovedddddd this so much!!!
Love this great interview 🎉
This just motivated me❤
Hi Grace! I am a third year bio student at Pembroke college, Ox! I recently had to super randomly rusticate because I hurt my back through sport (gymnastics) and it meant I could sit/stand to study. I’m getting better now thankfully but I have some extra time on my hands whilst I spend the weeks rehabbing/doing physio. I’ve always been interested in the idea of starting my own business one day, so I’ve been spending more time reading about that etc. I thought it might be worth reaching out as I was just wondering if you would possibly be up for a super quick zoom chat about your whole experience starting a business whilst at uni? Also I know you’re so busy because I follow your ig stories!! But yeah I just wanted to ask as you seem like the perfect inspirational person to speak to. At the moment my physio/rehab journey/hours I’m spending at the gym to rehabilitate me back to university and to my sport is kind of fuelling my passion to use the opportunity to come up with a business idea maybe to do with gym wear adapted for injured athletes etc ❤. Thank you!!
Loved this episode ❤❤❤❤
Hey Grace, love the podcast. You should get Studio B owner who is up in Sunderland. Grown a business from ground up. Now opening several stores, expanded to home goods. Honestly lovely woman and great company
All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make, the better🎉
Love Aimee, love Odd Muse and love this podcast ep. 👌
My two favourites 🤗
I really want my jewellery business to be successful and I’d love to have a team but listening to this podcasts just reminds me of how bloody scary it is and now I’m having second thoughts 😂
Definitely start it and don’t be scared
Aimee is a queen! Love it, wish Beverley didn’t swear so much though 😂
Hi Grace! This was a really well-balanced conversation. I love how both of you have built such successful businesses in a similar industry, and yet your journeys are so different. Very relatable and down to earth - truly enjoyed it so thank you and keep up the great work!
Really interesting interview. Could you think of inviting a creator of House of SB, absolutely love the brand! Thanks x
She’s already interviewed her if you go back a few years 😊
I'm sat here with a sports degree working in marketing in the electronic music industry so maybe Grace can tell me a few things with her degree and put it to some use as my degree does fuck all for me. I'll trade her some sports knowledge she can use to impress her fiance during the Euros.
Love this episode, it was so insightful 📈🤍
I’ve been binge watching episodes & every single one has so many gems 💎 🩵🩵
