  • Carlisle Castle is one of the most important historical sites in English history. With countless sieges spanning 600 years.
Famous for the Imprisonment of Queen Mary of Scots, the Licking Stones and the legendary folk song Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond.
Many Kings have attacked and/or held the site, including Edward Longshanks, Robert The Bruce, King John, Henry I, Henry II, William Rufus, King George II, and Prince Charles Edward Stuart.
Following the history of Carlisle Castle is the same as exploring 900 years of England, from the Norman conquest in 1066 by William The Conquer, The Medieval Scottish Uprising, The War of The Roses, The English Civil War, The Jacobite Wars and even WW1 and WW2.
Going back even further the site was a significant British Roman Fort likely serving as one of if not the main outpost for Hadrians Wall.
