I feel like this would get full of crud before too long. How do you imagine maintenance and cleaning of piece working?

Our first version of this is about 4 years old and 8 out of the 9 slots had no problems with crud collecting. The 9th contains the bread knife that often goes back with a few crumbs. These are easily removed by knocking it upside down or a vacuum in the slot. Provided you keep your knives clean, I think this block should probably be a cleaner option than a typical knife block 🔪 🪵.

Hi, thanks for your concern. This is the second comment we've had asking us to be careful, so you've got us questioning our approach. Can we ask what particular cut got you worried?
There are times where the camera can make things look scarier than they actually were, though we admit that cutting the knife slots 8:43 with a jobsite saw did require a little extra care. But we do say 9:56 the better way to do things.
We aren't using guards or push sticks in any of these cuts, because our fingers were always well clear of the blade. But please feel free to correct us if we did do something daft somewhere. We'd rather feel a little foolish than feel a spinning blade... ek. Thanks again for the concern

Please please ..start using some kind of push sticks… keep your fingers for picking your nose

Hi @gobear83 We appreciate your concern and know exactly the section of video you are referring to and I agree it looks dubious. But don’t worry, we always use push sticks where appropriate and in this instance it’s a combination of camera angle and lens zoom that makes things look particularly scary. Trust us, we had to watch this bit over and over when editing and it made us wince each time, but it was much safer in the real world. We intend to keep all of our fingers 🖐️🖐️
