Captain Black appearing as Fawn's assistant threw me off so much when I first watched the episode. Really added to the atmosphere of the episode. And Magenta is just great.
I have this episode on audio tape, and the threat given on that version is the one from the episode Special Assignment. The events in this episode never happened as they were a result of Symphony Angel's delerium. At the end of the compilation video, the Mysterons reverse the attack on Cloudbase from the point where Colonel White spins round to the point where Cloudbase returns to it's normal position. The Mysterons speak during this sequence stating that a peaceful resolution to the conflict is possible. The closing music is the TVR 17 music from White As Snow. Great video.
I hated that video 😂😂😂 I was in disbelief when I seen the ending because I knew there was no way they could end the episode like this in the format of the original series... and I demanded to see the original in the next Fanderson home group I went to confirming what I suspected... I really hate when people tamper with original media like this when I don’t have access to the original version 😂😂😂

I remember watching this show (including this episode) back in the early 70s when we first got cable TV. It was shown in either NYC or Philadelphia (both cities are close by to me.)
I find it strange how during the 32 episode run, Spectrum was aggressively after the Mysteron re-creations and that they could successfully defeat or thwart the Mysteron attempts to succeed, except this episode where the dark, depressed tone allows Spectrum & Cloudbase to be defeated.
@@stephenbyrne2170 Well Symphony states that it was a nightmare. Caused by heat exhaustion. It was nice to see a similar episode appear in "The new Captain Scarlet" series.

In the compilation film Captain Scarlet vs. the Mysterons (which of course is what this video is based from), they made it look as though the attack on Cloudbase really happened and the Mysterons had the ability to reverse time. Thing is if Symphony wasn't dreaming the attack, then how do they explain Captain Black being on Cloudbase as Doctor Fawn's assistant?
@@BikliqiStudios2020 Yeah, but then how would he have gotten aboard Cloudbase without being recognised before the attack? They'd seen his face a few times through the series.
This should have been the last ever Captain Scarlet episode & what happened was for real & not in Symphony angel's imagination. Starting off with Symphony being killed after her aircraft is shot down then the Cloudbase attack. After showing the still of Colonel White saluting & spinning round it should have shown Cloudbase actually crash-land. It should have then turned to the world president to state after what happened that The Mysterons "War of Nerves" had been successful. Just too powerful for Earth to deal with. The Mysterons themselves would have then restated that the "War of Nerves" was over & would bring a new order & peaceful transition to life on Earth, having eliminated Spectrum feeling they were to blame for their unintentional attack on their complex on Mars starting all this. Would have ended with a sombre end theme tune. A grim conclusion I admit but a conclusion nonetheless.

Deacon Davis ...or in the case of the movie this video was based on, the Mysterons reversed time so the attack never happened as they believed peace was possible. The attack remained as a message to the Earthmen to prove how powerful they are and what their actions as brought to Earth. Question is: did the members of Spectrum remember the attack that never happened?
@@joshuamlee98 We may never know. Although I must say, I wouldn't have figured the Mysterons to possess a forgivable nature. After we attacked their city on Mars, they vowed they wouldn't stop until Humanity was extinct.
@@Thrawn1 A floating aircraft carrier allows it to be easily deployable to any location in the world, as well as making it a hell of a lot easier to launch fighter assets. Aircraft carriers are already powerful on their own because they operate as mobile airfields, with the limitation that they can only cross water. Just imagine how powerful a military force could be if one could go anywhere.
@@Thrawn1 According to Gerry Anderson's biography: "it took [the Spitfire squadron] about 20 minutes to climb high enough to intercept the bombers that were already at 16,000 feet." He therefore decided to make Spectrum's headquarters a hovering airborne aircraft carrier: "This could launch aircraft that would then climb to 100,000 feet and intercept extraterrestrial invaders within minutes."
Cloudbase has no onboard weapons that we know of. They couldn't launch the remaining two Angels as previous interception missions proved disasters and even if they could lock on and fire on the Mysteron craft, its clearly shown that evasive flying moves simply do not work. The best that could have been done would have been to evacuate as many people as possible off Cloudbase and rig the ship to blow
