I find almost all of the dogs to be weirdly grouped in the UK system😅 In Sweden we have 10 groups instead of 7 and it improves who is grouped where a lot. There is always some dogs that are hard to place but I feel our system is the one that feels the most "logical" to me. Absolutely. I kept wondering where the toy poodle had gotten to. Using that logic, the Min Pin should have been in a different group, too, just as crazy.. If you're going to judge toys as a group, why in earth would you not include the exactly named and bred toy poodle?

I feel that the extreme constant grooming required for the very longhaired over-coated Pekingese is bordering on abuse. I understand what is required to show the breed but what pleasure is there in it all for this little dog? He couldn't care less if he is champion or not, it is the owner whose vanity is being fed. In my 75 years of life I have seen a number of really gorgeous Pekingese dogs, but never before one where you literally cannot tell which is the front or the back end.
Just like Peke. Wasabi, won Westminster 21, had to be carried , & hardly made one round, but then , their only purpose is, a lap dog,.. Original purpose was, foot warmers.. !
Love the lowchen rep, such a shame they're not a more widespread breed! Always had a small dream of breeding them someday & trying to help increase the numbers, however I don't know how feasible that would be as a career, or if I'd need to do other things alongside it.
I bred Maltese my from age 13 , I had a full career alongside of breeding. The toy breeds usually have few puppies,so after veterinarian fees for your dogs & the puppies ,you sometimes end up with one or two puppies. It’s a hobby that can bring you great joy. Read a few books about dog breeding ,it is a very rewarding for sure. But you will need a lot of start up money to buy your self 2 or 3 bitches , don’t go past that to start because you will be keeping them inside your home. You want Champion pups who have good bloodlines look at the breeders who show their dogs. There must be kennels selling pups. Once you find a reputable one check their wins & place an order for a pup. Bring someone skilled in the breed when you look at you pup once it’s born. You will be able to pass on it but Idk if your down payment will be refunded. Good luck if this is what you choose as a hobby.

Yes, they are! They're a gorgeous ancient breed, and I hope the ethical breeders can push back against the activists who want to see the modern Pekingese disappear.
Although these are all super cute, I can't help but feel sorry for the extremely flat nosed dogs. In my country, it is now no longer permitted to breed dogs with flat snouts because most of these individuals have trouble breathing and can't pant properly to cool themselves in warm weather.
