      @Drake Lang Your argument is shit, replace Duncan on the Spurs with Barkley and the Spurs still win all those titles but does Duncan with the Suns do anything, I think not, especially against the bulls.

      @Drake Lang Also, I don't really care who is actually the better player overall but it's unfair to dismiss Barkley by suggesting he can't win when the guy had to go up against Jordan and the Bulls, Hakeem and the Rockets 2 years in a row, nobody else, not even Duncan could have won in that situation.

      the five second back to the basketball and man/zone hybrid defenses that are present today make it harder for a guy to see where a double is coming from. with that being said though I think Barkley would love the thought of facing up and using his athleticism to score first in today's game.

    Maybe my favorite basketball player of all time. Just so unique, versatile, and entertaining. Outstanding vision of the floor. When he put the ball on the floor on a fastbreak from (let's face it) usually his own rebound, it meant it was your ass There will never be a player quite like him. Jordan is arguably the best but you see his SG high-flying flaunty playstyle mimicked so much; he just did it better than anyone else. You can really see his (Barkley's) passion in the way he imposed his will on the game. He was raw heart in games and it's a crying shame that his lack of ring marks him as not having "the heart of a champion." Bullshit.

    • @realmusicentertainmentcompany
      @realmusicentertainmentcompany 3 роки тому +1

      @@adamsamuel8593 I agree 110% and dont forget about point gaurd Terry Porter. He was once an all star. Also him and Clyde Drexler had formed one of the best backcourts in the NBA at that time. Porter was a 17-20 ppg point guard that could give you 7-10 ast per game while shooting 40% from 3 ooint range. Very underrated point gaurd. At one time was an all-star and was an all-star caliber point gaurd. In this gaurd dominated era he would have a field day!!! But yes, that Portland Team was stacked.
      Also image if Phoenix had a healthy Cedric Ceballos. Dude was sort of similar to Shawn Marion. You didnt need to run plays for him. He slashed to the rim and he always cut to the basket while Barkley would post up. His style of play complimented Barkleys half court game as Barkley would run the offense out of the post and kick out to shooters like Thunder Dan and Danny Ainge or find cutters cutting to the rim like Ceballos & Dumas. Imagine if Dumas didn't get suspended for the drug thing the following season? Richard Dumas was on the rise but he fell victim to the traps of having money and time on your hands even tho he had a wife & child. Having money, to much time on your hands and lousy bitches aka groupies and drugs and peer presure of the league can destroy great players on the rise.
      Oh and don't forget how Stern rigged games for his school boy crush Jordan lol😂😂😂
      Jordan was great, but he was also great for the league and NBC's ratings and the billiin dollar TV contract the NBA had with NBC. At the end of the day Jordan had to win. PERIOD POINT BLANK!!!
      Stern was like Mullin, Ewing, Miller, Reggie Lewis, Drezen Petrovic, Malone, Stockton, Dominque Wilkins, Barkley FUCK YOUR LEGACY AND TAKE THE MONEY TO LOSE TO MICHEAL OR ELSE OR DIE...
      Len Bias, Reggie Lewis and Drezen Petrovic & Roy Tarpley we're key players who was a threat to Jordan's legacy and Stern's script.
      Ask Tim Donohue...
      I miss NBA 90's basketball but as I look back now as a grown man who thinks for himself who has evolved in his thinking I now realized this shit was scripted AS FUCK LOL!!!
      So was the 80's except for the bad boys aka Detroit Pistons said fuck your script stern.
      It was too much parity for the Bulls to win every year.
      Yeah something in that milk ain't white lol😂😂😂
      At the end of the day Magic, Bird, George "Ice Man" Gervin, Dominque Wilkins, Isiah Thomas, Doctor J and Moses saved the league in the 80's but Stern & Jordan made the game global and brought money into the league in the 90's.
      Thats why at the end of the credits of a nba broadcast it doesn't say NBA Basketball it says NBA ENTERTAINMENT... get it ENTERTAINMENT!!! Scripted just like pro wrestling. And Im not even gonna get on Vegas and the Mob and also the illuminati's involvement in the NBA. Its all about ratings, money and big market teams AND YES I'M A PROUD CONSPIRACY THEORIST!!! Big corporations and the government call people who are on to their shit derogatory terms like conspiracy theorist but I've learn to embrace it and I DONT GIVE A FUCK!!! I'M A PROUD CONSPIRACY THEORIST!!!

To be able to pick as outstanding all star without even having a ring, in 90's is such a great milestone a legend could have. Barkley had an incredible skill set playing at the PF position, but he lacked the lateral quickness to play against guards.
      Charles was unfortunately born in the wrong body. However, you have to realize just how explosive and strong Charles was to be able to out jump and move guys that were bigger than him.
      Chuck knew how to use his body! He also came into the league at 300lbs, so he wasn't a small guy. He started dropping the pounds in Philly when Dr. J, Moses Malone, and others took him in and were letting him know that he had to take care of his body!

    • @justaloe

      I've watched both guys play in their primes and I love Lebron's game but he was not a better offensive player than Barkley, he just wasn't. Charles was one of the best post up players of all time but better than Lebron and he was a very good outside shooter. I would give Lebron the edge defensively. Charles was actually a great passer but he wasn't asked to be the point forward like Lebron is.

    Suns should have won that finals..

  • @pebutts
    @pebutts 4 роки тому +256

    This should be required viewing for everyone who talks about Charles Barkley not winning a ring during his career. 32 points on 53% from the field and 80% from the line, 12 boards, 10 assists, 3 steals, and a block against only one turnover against a truly great defensive team. He recorded a triple double, one of the great games ever played in the NBA finals. And lost.
    Charles doesn't get the credit he deserves for taking a Suns team that was a perennial also ran in the western conference to the league's best record and the finals. Sure, the Suns had some really good offensive players in Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, and Tom Chambers, but what's overlooked is none of them could ever guard anybody. That was the reason they never won before Charles arrived and it was the reason they lost in the finals. Jordan just destroyed that backcourt. His 41 points per game in that series is still the finals record.
    It's not like Barkley was guarding Mike. He didn't let Jordan go off in this game for 55 points. Paul Westphal looked helpless and could never figure out any adjustments to make. The Suns' bench in this contest "contributed" a whopping 15 points on 5/19 shooting but Westphal kept them out there laying one brick after another.
    If you rewatch the 93 finals the thing you'll notice repeatedly is how little support Barkley got. Kevin Johnson, supposedly an elite point guard, averaged a piddly 6.5 assists, shot 42%, and often couldn't even get the ball across half court against the Bulls' defensive pressure. Barkley often ended up bringing up the ball himself. Nobody other than Charles could get a rebound or make a play. Nobody on the Suns other than Charles had a great series. Meanwhile, Jordan and Pippen both went off, as did BJ Armstrong and Horace Grant.
    Barkley had a relatively short prime because he was a smaller guy playing in the land of giants and his body broke down faster than bigger elite forwards like Tim Duncan and Karl Malone. He also suffered from a truly incompetent front office in Philly and a team that couldn't play defense in Phoenix. He never had a truly all time great teammate in their prime. I wish he could have had more opportunities when he was good. He deserved to win. He was great in this finals.

      I AGREE 110%!!!
People have flat out forgotten the way this guy could do EVERYTHING in his prime. Take a look at how many times he carries the ball up court and runs the play or isolates, ultimately resulting in him scoring or an assist to another Suns player. He could be a point forward when necessary, but was always rebounding & scoring like a machine and finding a way to make his teammates better. I can't think of a better player to not have the fortune to win a championship. And having watched players like Barkley & Malone in their prime, I cannot see why Tim Duncan is the unanimous #1 PF of all time, it isn't that simple.

    • @nostalgicbliss5547
      @nostalgicbliss5547 4 роки тому +3

      Duncan was a Center masquerading as a PF. Maybe that's part of what made him so versatile.
      He could legit switch between PF/C no problem and do the job requirements of both positions on offense and defense. I would take Barkley over him on offense no question.
      Barkley was a better scorer, offensive rebounder and passer. Although Duncan could pass it pretty well too.
