Did Black and Blue this summer and have done Shelf, Solitude and Thatchtop from this trail. Blue is one of my favorites and you did it justice! Great video work! Beautiful and entertaining. I want to find Frozen next time!
I love blue lake, would be a great spot for a sunset photo - hike back wouldn't be fun though. Frozen is awesome really want to return when it's more 'frozen'. Thanks for checking out the video!🤟
Really enjoy your videos! Great job! Thank you for sharing! I visited RMNP last year for the first time. I only saw Bear Lake and Alberta Falls. Do you ever encounter and dangerous wildlife like bears or mountain lions? I would love to come back and try the Sky Pond hike!
Thanks for watching glad you enjoy the videos! I've seen a cub bear once and I've heard of people that have visited there entire life and have never seen a mountain lion. I don't think there's much danger as long as you respect the wildlife. The most dangerous thing I see are people getting too close to the elk and moose trying to get photos 👍
@@Davespates Thank you for the information! Take care! Looking forward to your future videos! Very nicely done! I would love to see more of the edited photos you are taking along the way.
No problem thank you for the kind words. I post my edited photos on my website at spatesphotography.com I don't have the blog post up for this hike yet but should be up by the end of the weekend 😀
Great video s- I'm from Ohio in my late 50's and not in amazing shape - headed to RMNP for four days right before Labor Day - any recommendations for a good challenge but not anything crazy? This one looks like you really have to have some experience to get to all of these lakes without getting lost.
Fours days? I would recommend Fern Lake from Fern lake trailhead, it takes you by a awesome waterfall and river junction. Push to Odessa after that to up the challenge. Wild Basin Trail head: Day 2 Ouzel Lake, several waterfalls and scenic sights that don't get boring. Up that trail challenge by pushing to bluebird lake where you'll encounter crazy blooms of wildflowers. Day 3: Aim for Emerald lake from the most popular trailhead Bear Lake, it's the most visited for good reason, get there early. You can add Lake Haiyaha from there for an extra push. Day 4 or a easier day, drive old fall river road (if open) and trail ridge road. There are hikes off of trail ridge road that are rated moderate. Backup: if you can find early (5am) parking at glacier Gorge trailhead I'd go for sky pond. It requires some scrambling up wet rock but it's nothing too intense. These are all established trails that are easy to follow that will give you a workout. 👍 Hope that helps
Upper Glacier Gorge looks so amazing. Can’t wait for summer

Only shelf and solitude lakes left in this area, can’t wait! 😄

Great Video! I plan on visiting in 2022 primarily to do some of these hikes. I’m debating between August 1 - 4 or Sept 19-22. Any advice? Thanks!
I would pick August, there will be a ton of wild flowers up there during that time :)
