I went to an ATL show in 2012 and the next morning all the bras girls threw on stage had been chucked away in the bins (trash cans outside) I even took a photo. I also met Jack 3 times and he was so kind to me and my sister and didn’t do anything inappropriate. She was cold and he told her to get somewhere warm and offered her his jacket and didn’t touch her or do it say anything creepy. I may be biased but my experiences and what I saw of them was completely innocent and all the inappropriate things they said seemed to be only on stage and part of what I thought was an act. Just my take.

I saw them live this past summer, and Jack did make a few of his typical crude jokes. I will say that the band has thankfully matured a lot over the years. They have always been a favorite of mine, which of course doesn't excuse abuse, it just makes stories like this a lot sadder. For what it’s worth, the more damning story that was released has a few suspicious holes, based on my touring experience. The detail about a friend being thrown out for trying to sneak backstage while the writer was just given an open invitation to break the rule from security doesn’t add up. Security is in place not to protect the band, but to ensure nobody gets into a position of liability in areas of a venue that aren’t properly policed. The narrator suggests that the band possibly instructed security to keep an eye out for seemingly underage girls, but security personnel are employed by the venue and, in most places, often even give band members grief if not possessing the approved laminates for the show. This would cause the security guard to put his job at risk with no incentive to do so as the band doesn’t pay him. As for meet and greet passes, no band member is going to have the access to fan club admin emails to send out “fishing” meet and greets. In addition, I doubt that would entice someone to come to a show more than a simple message would, but that’s purely conjecture. I don’t discount the persons voice and the struggle that she says she went through, but those points seem blatantly incorrect and cast a more speculative shadow on the other aspects of the post.

I’m calling bs on this. All I see is an angry mob looking for blood and ATLs disbandment or Jack being thrown out angrily commenting “allegations allegations 97 cases” but no actual proof. Then you have many fans commenting how they’ve met the band multiple times, even underaged and how there was nothing but a positive environment and politeness but there goes the mob again replying “just because they were nice to you it doesn’t mean they were nice to everyone”.
I mean, if multiple people are defending them with examples and testimonies from their experiences that should also count. But if you wanna side with people who delete their videos, their tweets, their accounts, meh.
Bottom line is you can’t win with these people. They literally just want to see blood run. No action or response is ever good. They were better off without this statement.

Unfortunately there is a long history of this kind of thing happening with male rock bands, and it used to be pretty much accepted. It never should have been condoned. I have no idea if these allegations are true, but the only real way to stop it is for fans to stop treating it as normal. Teenagers like these girls often have really poor judgment-which is why the law protects them. Bands have to learn to keep them at more than arms length. The problem with passing this off as something that happened in the past is that it still us happening, if not with this band then with others.

I love All Time low, and I have seen them live many times, so reading that story was absolutely devastating. What I can say, is that through the years of seeing them, it really has always been Jack that has come across as making crude and inappropriate comments toward the crowd which have struck me as a bit off. But people can change, and I know they have definitely changed for the better, such as not really doing the bras on stage thing anymore (though even as recently as this year, Jack has still made weird sexual comments to the crowd at shows).
The bottom line is if the major allegation against Jack has any merit, the band has to cut ties with him if they want this band to be able to continue, as hard as it may be to cut out a really close friend. And that is assuming the rest of the band isn't complicit to his actions which in that case, not sure what they can do to clear their name, but I guess we won't probably won't ever know that part for sure.

The story you mentioned that contains a lot of details worries me. I find it difficult to believe that it would be made up, although it's possible (e.g. POS Amber Heard). Normally, I would agree with cutting out the offending member and moving on in the style of Walk The Moon, but this situation seems different because of the amount of time the allegations claim this abuse spanned over. In addition, the allegations claim another member in the band walked in on an incident, so it's implied that that band may know about Jack's behavior. While I hope the allegations are false, it looks bad for All Time Low.
Then again, there aren't any screenshots are anything to support the allegations, so it's basically he said/she said. So overall just a complicated situation that I suspect we won't really hear about again unless new evidence surfaces.

From past experiences, the best thing we as the public can do in these types of situations is wait for the facts and not jump to any conclusions. I think many of us are torn between the "telling the truth until proven lying" and "guilty until proven innocent" standpoints, and at this point making a definitive judgement without knowing all the facts is too risky. However, I'm definitely not judging the opening acts for dropping out because the situation's different for them, and sticking around could possibly put their own reputations (and even careers) in jeopardy. As for the rest of us: wait and see. Demand accountability and push for matters to be cleared up, but it's not on us to decide what is true and what isn't.

Great video Jon! And yeah idk. I am on no ones side on this situation. I mean of course I want to believe the victim but I want to see what happens next and as crappy as it sounds people have lied before but the fact that their are apparently even more allegations are worrying.
As crappy as it sounds I am not very shocked like Idk maybe it's because I don't stan any bands anymore. It's a very sad situation though. Jack and the rest of the band were very close so if Jack did do anything (which I believe there are allegations even dating way back) than the rest of the band would have had to know about it.
I don't know what's going to happen next I mean yeah ATL could go to court and than act like nothing happened or they might kick out Jack but to know what they will decide to do gets very blurry since they were friends since they were kids.
I am betting that they will probably keep Jack in the band and act like nothing happened tbh. God this situation just sucks.

It's really hard because they're public figures and people are treating the situation like they're not famous and people wouldn't have any reasons to make allegations. Several people very close to me have been victims of sexual violence so I tend to stand with victims but, this is one of the situations where if no evidence is provided it's really hard to believe. It's definitely something that should be investigated but it's kind of hard to imagine that with "97" allegations there is absolutely no evidence (as far as I've heard and seen there is no evidence but please correct me if I'm wrong). People are saying ATL needs to provide evidence to clear themselves but then don't demand any sort of evidence from the people making the accusations.
I really don't want this all to be true and if they are my heart goes out to the victims but, we can't crucify people because of not proven allegations. It's not like false allegations never happen, I mean look at Archie William's case, he had an alibi that was confirmed by 3 people, he didn't match the description, and his prints didn't match the ones found at the scene but he was convicted and spent 36 years in prison. There's a pretty large nonprofit called the Innocence Project that's been around almost 100 years because accusations are not always true.

I saw the Twitter story the day after I went to their show in Louisville. Sadly, I think the reason that no one has said anything or kicked him out has partially to do with contracts and/or NDA's. The 2 bands that were opening for them dropped off the tour and continued the rest of the cities on their own separate tour, but never made statements why. And I can't see Alex knowing and not saying anything, especially seeing how vocal he is a lot of things as an ally, even calling out Demi Lovato on Instagram. I LOVE this band! They're one of my favorites! But I definitely think that if there is any truth to the allegations, which I believe they're true, then Jack is being protected somehow for some reason. there's something they said in their statement that has become such a big pet peeve of mine over the years and is just a giant red flag to me. in the same statement, they said 'we support and respect victims' but then immediately follow that with 'we will be taking legal action against the accuser'. those two things cancel each other out, you can't support a group of people and then use one of the most common intimidation tactics against them and silence them.
I'm not saying that, if these allegations are false, they should just take it lying down, however, they shouldn't publicly announce that they are taking action to the public. if they actually were respectful of victims they would want to be made aware of future stories, know the truth and be aware of what their camp is doing, god forbid it's something bad.
but now, in the future, if something happens, instead of telling someone and outing the alleged abuser, the victim will feel pressure to stay silent and live with that trauma/pain because they announced they take legal action against these things.
they shouldn't have included that part, in my opinion, do it privately if you want but announcing it is a direct threat towards other victims who thought about coming forward and the exact opposite of the supposed sentiment of 'supporting/respecting victims'.

One story I always go to in cases like this is the Shawn Oakman story. He was accused of sexual assault while at Baylor university and it cost him becoming one of the top NFL draft choices. He eventually got his case to court and within 15 minutes, the accuser basically came out and said she made the allegations against Oakman up. All Time Low have been my favorite band for 11 years now, by far, and words really can’t describe how terrible seeing all of these allegations pour out have made me feel.
Obviously it’s nothing compared to how the victims feel, but they’ve been the one thing in my life that I can always count on to make me feel better when I’m down, and this definitely taints that.
The sucky thing is that I’m not terribly surprised. I always thought the bra thing was weird, and though I always attributed the crass strange banter to trying to copy blink-182, they take on a darker light when you consider all of the allegations.
This really hurts like hell to see, and I’ve legitimately been depressed for about a week over this.
That statement was absolutely awful. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised they didn’t deal with it like Steve in New Found Glory and kick him out right away, but even if all of the allegations aren’t true, it makes them look really bad.
Jack doubling down on his personal Twitter just saying “the allegations are false” and nothing else made it look even worse. At least admit to the inappropriate humor at your shows, and apologize for making people uncomfortable.

I don’t understand how nothing is said until now…. ATL falls off the radar for a few years and then they release new hit music and NOW there’s allegations against them? Why does this happen when a band starts to come up again? I’m not saying these are false allegations or that they are true, I’m commenting on the fact that no one has anything to say when no one gives a shit about a band but then when the band makes a comeback, then people point fingers, why not say something until now? What evidence do you have to prove your allegations? Your ducks aren’t in row to make these claims now, so why not say something 5-10 years ago? Timing is everything.

You can’t really side with anyone here. I just feel like there has to be some kind of tangible proof in this situation. We are talking tens of thousands in expenses for their tours (I still don’t know how this is possible as a 15-21 year with a not-so-good relationship with their parents), there was constant conversations on the phone it seems, etc. There has to visual proof somewhere. I don’t know how there couldn’t be, or if she just decided to not release it.
All Time Low obviously isn’t scared of the police/courts getting involved so it’s just a weird situation all around.

I'm so fricking tired of this, first ADTR and then All Time Low, if these allegations have any actual evidence, sure I'll believe it, but these allegations come out of nowhere from the most random of people, never actually mentioning the bands by name, and the thing that gets to me is that the majority of the time it always comes out as false, it's so annoying, again, if it actually does come out with evidence, I'll take it seriously, but I highly doubt it.

Please don’t do this! Always be in the middle and don’t pick a side until everything comes out. Just because you like a band doesn’t mean you can just automatically side with them. It’s super hurtful to the victims and can make you come off as biased. Also unfortunately these girls are definitely getting harassed for even coming out about abuse real or not. A woman can literally have a video of her being assaulted and some people would still call her a liar. I truly believe that

so...I will put my two cents on this for both sides(despite only having one thing to say in defense) I also would like to say I don't have a clear source for the story of the supposed victim so if anyone could drop a link that would be great
In one regard I feel the band's confident statement about these allegations might point to them being false, and something I heard from an actual detective first hand is that a person who doesn't show up most likely did it, however the statement was behind a screen nor a video so that can detract.
Regarding behavior, I always found it weird how there seemed to be this running joke of Jack constantly being naked somewhere, more so in retrospect because why would you present to your pre-dominantly tween-teen audience like that?
And that's probably the last point that is important to talk about. While I know there is at least one story of a fan being groomed assaulted, kept going to shows it seems non-sensical for them to keep going, but as someone who's' gone through sexual abuse in my life I understand this need to "overlook" and to make it make sense to yourself. If there are stories of statutory rape that's also a can of worms for this scene. Statutory rape, especially in this case is because these 14, 15, 16 year olds think they are PERSONALLY grown enough to be engaging in relations as such and are therefore blinded by bias of how creepy this all is from an outside perspective, so it all hits different at a later age. I saw a comment somewhere that said "I was called cute by a band member when I was 14 and I was simply flattered, pedophilia hits different later on" which I think could be a big part of these stories not blowing up as much when they either came out or when it happened.

I hadn’t even heard of this until this video.
The statement sounds like it was written by the band just because there’s a lot of redundancies. But their lawyer definitely told them to write it. And if it was by a lawyer that lawyer needs to take a writing class.
Twitter always goes hard in the replies regardless of what the situation is.
The second one definitely sounds more like LiveJournal rumors if it was made and deleted like that. It sucks, but whenever something comes out about any famous person, a million and a half fake things pile on top of it. Much like the fake Twitter rumors made about Joe Biden that eventually came out as false.
Their immediate response is at least better than how other bands handle it.
SWMRS isn’t really indicative of anything with FBR since that was specifically a Burger Records scandal that resulted in that label folding. That band had no reputation other than one of them was Billie Joe Armstrong’s kid. I don’t remember them fronting that hard as feminists or whatever. Them going away had no impact on the music world. Burger Records was only relevant in LA. It really wasn’t that big of a deal that SWMRS or anyone else went down after that

    • @jadered9514

As a huge Green Day fan, the rumor is that Billie Joe doesn’t have an active Twitter or Instagram at the moment due to his son Joey Armstrong being the reason behind the allegations (allegations is weird for me to say if you read both statements, it’s basically a true claim). It kinda made me look at them a different way.

SWMRS/Emily’s Army wasn’t that large of a band and didn’t have a big following, which was true of basically every Burger Records band. That band going down had no impact on the world of music

*to clarify my original comment. I meant the way they are on stage. I haven't seen or heard anything aboit back stage* All I can say is when my husband came to one of their shows with me (I've seen them a ton and thought nothing but...) he was so uncomfortable and said "Are they 12...wtf is happening?? Ok...I'm going to the bar...no...I'll see you later" as a girl/woman it's so normalised to see that kind of behaviour that I didn't think anything of it until an "outsider" was there. I don't know if this makes sense but yeah, I wish I could say I'm surprised but sadly i'm not and sometimes we need space away or another "outsider" to give the perspective that it's not normal or ok...
