Hey awesome :) very interesting I am looking forward to see the mixing and mastering video :) I also finished my last beat on the Mpc yesterday and today is my mixing ssession :)
Especially about adding an additional kick and snare to a chopped up drum break is interesting for me

So good to hear, cheers!! Yeah, I like adding some kicks and snares to increase punch and get sharper transients, then I blend to taste. Sometimes there can be frequency buildups, so experiment with some eq cuts here and there as well😀

My Bassline is at about 40-50Hz my Drumbreaks kick is at 65-70Hz so I guess I will add my additional kick layer at around 30-50Hz let’s see if I will find the right sample :)
I already downloaded your sample pack btw :) thanks for that

Nice! Hopefully you have something going on with the bass higher up in the spectrum. Sometimes I’ve only used sub bass for bass which have resulted in a thin sounding beat. Would love to hear the beat tho, if u could send link to on mail or here would be awesome

Of course I am half way trough the mixing ;) guess I will finish it till midnight;) I will let you l know … could also be possible that I take a break from mixing for today and start a fresh beat on the mpc bcs my ears are a bit tired after 3 hours of arranging EQing compressing and mixing

@@stefan-apollooh yes, mixing desicions deteroriate as session time goes. I like to arrange and mix in two different sittings - and often times a second revisit to the mix as well. Keep it up🙌😀

Some constructive criticism, you’re just talking over everything you’re doing without letting your music show through for the viewer to hear. In top of that, it’s so much quieter than your dialogue; are you just letting your camera’s mic pick up the audio?

Hey, thanks for pointing this out. I was actually thinking about the same thing in retrospect. Will definitely not do this mistake again. Appreciate your input, one love🙌🙏

Still don’t know if i will use sidechan compression to duck my breaks kick or just use a low pass filter on the additional kick layer and a high pass filter on the drum breaks kick … because it’s smoother blending the 2 kicks together then removing one by ducking with the compressor.
What’s your opinion about this topic

You could for example do some gentle side chaining, like a db or so of gain reduction, and still have enough of both worlds. A filter is more invading but can absolutely be the best solution as well

      generally speaking of course😀

I decided to use a dynamic EQ in the Drumbreak where the additional Kick and Snare Samples got Sidechained to duck the exact Frequencies where the Snare and Kick Samples are peaking. So it’s more a blending together of the Samples and not a complete ducking like the Compressor Sidechain would do. Also I put a Lowpassfilter on the Kick Sample at around 90Hz
