    There was a mod called Adventurers Inc. for oldrim (doesn't work on SE). It allowed you to take everything not nailed down and sell it to vendors. Mechanics aside, oh my god, epic levels of junk. Fun thing to note though, some dungeons had discarded places where you can't get to but with this mod, can loot - and you get like notes and little things, places the designers closed off. At any rate, loads of junk. Also, some mods make use of the junk, either by making it into leather, iron, or possibly alchemy. The game is fun, even with junk, it's a hoarders dream. :), enjoyed the video!

      Heard someone is making a legacy for that mod that wasn't added in the AE update due to them not liking the uncertainty of the mods chosen and being aggressive with Nexus-imports. EE-Expansion is a pretty bad mod in my vote due to being another management minigame, plus Skyrim is really not that adapted to puzzle quests.

    Now do it with every single dungeon. I know there's, like, 150, but a true scientist quashes ALL variables

    This is mirrored in the Fallout series as well, and it's why I'm thankful for people who've gone through and made lists of "useful" junk items from those games. Whether it's used for crafting, or a quest, or for some random interaction you might not remember at first, there are certain things you'd want to pick up even before taking into account their weight/value ratio. Things like scrap metal, sensor modules, conductors, etc.
    I'm actually quite a big fan of Fallout 4's system of handling junk, where pretty much every item you can find and pick up has some kind of intrinsic value in crafting or settlement building. They can be broken down into base components that will always have a use, whether it's a desk fan or military-grade duct tape.
    I hate my compulsion to either search thoroughly for all useful items or simply take everything that isn't nailed down and sort through it later.

      Fallout 4 literally solved the junk clutter issue.
      It's something that never gets talked about but it literally makes every item functional.

    I like a lot of the crafting mods where you can take nearly everything and you can do things with some junk such as make rugs or clothes out of linen wrap and spider egg sacks can be broken down to spider silk and make fine clothes etc.. Leather and Fur armor can be broken down in to leather or strips. Tankards can be melted down into iron ore etc. It solves being bored some days so you decorate your hearthfire house much less cluttered and better looking. Just thousands of recipes on how to build anything from statues to plates and cups.

    What an interesting test. I was expecting dungeons to be filled with 70% junk and 30% valuable or useful items. But it's surprisingly the other way around.

    If you find the Atronach Forge there are some "junk" items that have actual uses. But the recipes for the forge are very rare and hard to find. Urag should have given you forge recipes for retrieving books for him.

    Such an excellent and timely video commentary. I just returned to Skyrim after a long time. I being an indecisive player, had a hard time, back in the "day", had never stuck to a solid archetype. Playing as a battlemage on Xbox Series x, with a limited mod set, I am enjoying a more minded and thoughtful playthrough, including the expansions, some of the content, I have never seen.
    So much junk, even with mods.

    I believe that many dungeons are actually closer to 3/4 junk and 1/4 loot or possibly even worse than that. For example is picking up a bunch of crappy iron blades or fur armor sets really all the valuable? Unless you just started your character most of this "loot" is meaningless especially if you are judging it by the amount of time it would take to make any real value off of your 20th iron sword you picked up. It's even more useless if you are 60 hours into your game and have something like a full daedric armor set.

    • @smiyles95
      @smiyles95 12 днів тому

      I think The Iron and fur still adheres to the 1:10 weight ratio. So While it isn't amazingly valuable, it still technically ticks that box "loot" by Strifes parameters.

    In honesty i think your weight to gold value was too low, a candlestick i think weighs 2 and sells for 25 or wine is 0.5 for 7 gold, and honestly the time spend taking that to a merchant i could have gotten more gold than it’s worth. I’d say a ratio of 1 weight:25 gold reflects more accurately my looting habits
