I've watched Sode tutorials before but this random one that showed up on my feed is the best explainer I've seen so far with details I haven't heard before.
Newbie here, how is the the mechanics of this technique different from the ippon seio nage (mechanics, not grips) ? Or are they techniques in the same spectrum?
You can't throw with sode if your opponent comes much close to you, there's no space to throw, so you have to use a very different setup before everything. Ippon seoi can be done easier inside the uke's lags, once the kake is different. But all the differences can be seen in randori, you can try to do both with the same setup, there you'll see some minor details which makes each one of the throws work. Good luck and good training
I think that wouldn't suit a taller tori, I'm average height and always have problems with the elbow, so I have to kouchi to open up, and take arm up, just saying

I know a lot of Judo, and yet I know so little of the art. Thank you Mr. Shinjiro Sasaki!

What a life changing and aggressively explanative judo training video,I wish to train with the Japanese one of these days
Straight to the point, no bullshittery, pure technique. The Kyudo and baseball analogy really helped in deepening this technique,. I LIKE THIS :)
