I rode in one of these one time. I have to say that I was not impressed. The Corolla and even the Civic of the time were higher quality and built better.
This was a handsome little but total garbage car. These were literally some of the most unreliable little cars you could buy here in the US at the time. Looks are really deceiving because although they may look like a well built little Japanese car and much Better than what you'd see and feel behind the wheel of the American cars excluding the Mazda built escort these were much worse than anything crapped out from Detroit. While these were Horribly unreliable little piles of rolling junk. I remember trying to explain the difference between Hyundai and Toyota to a friend of mine when I was in high school. I described Hyundai and Toyota like the difference between a Sony or Panasonic city player compared to like a GPX or a Durabrand From Walmart.
I own a 1994 with 1.8 engine and manual transmission and never had a problem with it except for a window regulator and both CV joints (but that's to be expected since I drive it very agressively). I also own a BMW e38 and THAT is the most expensive and unreliable car I had to deal with, it's my 3rd and last BMW, great driver but a problem waiting to happen. Why do you think the Hyundai is garbage? I wish my BMW's were as half as reliable as the Elantra!
@@Abe_Sheen do you still own this car? I'm thinking bout buying a '92.
