  • Frank and Wayne decide that the right call is to continue the search by gathering samples in the Fish Creek area.
The Superstition Mountains are located in Apache Junction, Arizona. Within the wilderness, the Lost Dutchman Mine has remained hidden, with up to $200 million in gold. Wayne Tuttle, Frank Augustine, Woody Wampler, Eric Deleel, and Eric Magnuson set out into the Superstition Mountains on History Channel’s Legend of the Superstition Mountains to search for the infamous gold mine in 2015. Growing restless waiting for a second season, Wayne and Frank decided to continue their search in the Superstition Mountains on UA-cam, filming videos of their treks into the mountains. The team now engages in treasure hunting and gold prospecting in the Superstition Mountains, searching for Ted DeGrazia’s lost paintings and investigating strange stories and mysteries of the Superstition Mountains.

I started watching the show 2 days ago already finished the first season. In my opinion, self editing and production on UA-cam makes this down to earth and truthful.

I was talking to my friend and I told him what kind of stuff I like to watch and like I just said he sent me the link. I'm born and raised for awhile and moved back to Tucson AZ. I just read about your channel and I know that area of Fish Creek area and Apache junction the story of the old lost Duluth mine. I've seen several men over the years out there with old fire trucks blowing the water on the mountainsides. Wish you the best look back in the early 70's the young man who cut across the desert daily to school and home and found a 20 lb gold rock just laying on the ground. He noticed that he would always kick the top of the shinny rock and finally decided to dig it up. I've seen several friends lose every once the fever sets in. I've done a little paning after the monsoons. Just a weekend hobby and I did find some, but it's for a man with deep pockets if your wanting to invest it's a gamble for sure. Personally I'd be quiet and do your thing for your dam sure giving up the ❌ spot.

I really did enjoy the show on the History channel and things did feel rushed, you couldn't stick around in a place for too long before the crew moved you somewhere else. I'm really glad that you guys have chosen to do this on your own with little to no restrictions! I watched the whole first season yesterday and I did like it! This kind of thing has always interested me since I was a little kid, and you guys are a rare breed of cool. I hope you guys continue to run this series for as long as you possibly can. I would love to go to Arizona some day just to visit the trails and just be embraced by an experience.

I for one, am super stoked to see you guys, staying on the hunt! I was was deeply drawn into the televised episode and frankly, it was because of you guys and not any fancy production company. Keep on trucking and doing your "Reality" style production. For the past few months, I learned I'll never be hiking again, because of a disc issue in my back. At only 55 years of age, I've found myself sitting an awful lot, in front of my youtube. Most television sucks, but I am committed to watching others, do the things I dream of doing. 40 years of land surveying and hiking, as closed a book in my journey, but whatever you guys are filming, I'll be right along with you! Never give up or allow others, to steal your chase!!!

Presently laid up from a broken hip after a bike wreck, I am stoked to have come across this series as I am a a keen adventurer and a huge fan of the Superstition Wilderness Area. I live in Tucson and am not able to travel by car as I would like so I enjoy these kinds of adventures vicariously through UA-cam and other sources. My last trip anywhere significant was to the Chiricahua Mountains a couple years ago. After I am healed of my current ailment, I intend to return to remote mountain bike trekking like I have not done in years. Thanks to History, UA-cam, and the creators of this series for keeping me focused on the good things in life, especially the great things of Arizona outdoor adventure. Good luck and God speed to all you adventure hungry men and women everywhere...

Plus its pretty educational later on with Woody the equivalent of a master martial artist of prospecting, and how they do talk about a bit of the past with stories related to the Lost Dutchmans Mine.

    Hi Wayne
I have just watched season one here in the UK and was searching for season 2 when I found your UA-cam channel, I have done alot of urban exploring myself here in the UK and really love the history behind this exploration and how you appreciate it .
I am slowly working my way through all your videos as fast as I can but was wondering if the history channel ever did get back in touch with you guys ? It is so sad that some idiots have destroyed this location out of pure greed :(
Reading some of the comments some have mentioned the video crew and sound crew may have done this but I wouldn't trust anyone one even the people close to me, all I will say is what done is done and move on.
I am so glad you decided to return without the production company ect and love the fact it is just raw footage because as we all know these film companies just want to dramatize shit for a tv audience.
I will carry on working my way through your videos and hope that doesn't change btw have you ever thought of getting that poor lad carrying the kit some help ? just an idea but I am sure you could have asked or run a competition and picked one or two people to help and they pay there own expenses, i bet loads would take that up.

Just found this, not sure what you guys are looking for ,but if you're looking for the Dutchman,it was located years ago.Chuck Kenworthy found it.He has pictures of the big mine and the signs around it.He found the storehouse with all the Peralta and Gonzalez's gold in it.A friend saw a piece of that gold and it was as big as a football. There was 6 or 8 mines including the big funnel or Dutchman mine.Several of the mines are on Indian reservations.
All this took place about twenty years ago.I knew Chuck, talked with him many times over about a seven year period.

I’m glad to see you guys went ahead & decided to produce your own season 2 etc...
This is a fascinating area with a lot of history.
I live in Butte County California, near the site where a 54lb solid gold nugget was found. There is a river nearby where it’s actually legal to pan for gold. My area was burned badly in 2018 Camp Fire. Lotsa history & tragedy here too...

Whoever took that cross I hope it brings you nothing but misfortune. Not because it might lead to the gold, but because regardless of if it is a sign leading to the gold or not its both a historical and incredible find that even though they didn't find the gold to the lost mine they found something that is a treasure of sorts.
To the team I will say you might not have found the gold that day but what you did find a amazing treasure of sorts and thats something to be proud of. Along with everything else you've found that piece that was used to hold lanterns and candles in mines, that booby-trapped mine, the few veins of ore you did find, and later on in this series that old coin. I'd say in the journey to find the lost mine your finding alot of other treasures along the way. Who knows all these clues might be leading you to the final destination your seeking.

Couldn't get to it last spring. The road was closed to anyone without authorization.
    With barriers and a sign.

There was a movie about 3 guys that rob a Wells Fargo truck filled with gold they hid it in a cave and they went to jail when they got out they went back to the cave in the 1950 when they came out the other end and had to carry the gold through the desert all died except one and close to death a car came by and he beg them for water he said you can have all the gold for water and they told him to keep it they found a way to make gold in a lab and gold was worthless. He went in a time tunnel at the other end of the cave he was a100 years in the future.

All I'm going to say is I don't believe there's a curse however I do believe that the American government doesn't want you to find that gold the fact that you had an Apache helicopter circling during your first season shows that the government's involved in some way shape or form the Apache while not strictly military is predominantly American military just saying guys watch your backs them some dangerous mountains

I liked the first season a lot, but the editing wasn’t very good. The dialogue came across as scripted and “fake” a lot of the time. I like this self-produced season. People sound “normal” when they talk...more realistic. I hope the guys find something big!

J Smith the problem with the other is multiple takes of something that really happens doesn’t work in our opinion. If the qualities bad but it’s in the moment is far better

I agree, it sounds scripted. The natural flow Isn't there. But I'm going to start over and watch it in chronological order. Either way, I enjoy watching the History Channel.

Sean Kennedy history channel is owned by A&E networks. It’s a logo. Nothing more. We were signed by A&E. Regardless of all that, the only gold they got was what we gifted them.

Guys, I'm thinking that they cleared out the quartz because quartz can go for a pretty penny! I know you focus on gold but crystals and gems have taken off and you showed some "TailRider" exactly where to find some clear quartz. There's a whole family of quartz (rose, blue, etc) what you need to get is the black obsidian as that from Arizona is going to be worth something & might help with financing future endeavors. Just a thought... grabbing crystals couldn't hurt!! Good luck I'm hooked!

I like this version way better than the fake ass History Channel version. The H.C. try to manufacture drama into shows where it isnt needed at all.
