  • A twenty plus mile tour of San Diego Harbor, showing points of interest that can be viewed by boaters, or explored on land. Starting in Glorietta Bay on Coronado, I rowed and sailed down to the south boat basin of Shelter Island, then back. The winds were typical, very little at eight in the morning, building to 12-15 knots from the west by two in the afternoon.
The music is Vaughan Williams, The Lark Ascending, performed by The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, with Sir Neville Marriner conducting and Iona Brown on violin. It is my desire that folks unfamiliar with this recording would enjoy it as much as I do, and seek out more works performed by those mentioned. If I have broken any copyright rules, I agree to do fifty push-ups and greatly apologize.

Felicitaciones hermano!

cant tell you how much i enjoyed your video, your boat is beautiful and represents a long forgotten time, it seemed to me like it has a living soul...maybe its also the audiotrack that makes it nice to watch. No doubt a jewel.

Nice G.I.S. Are you still in San Diego? Where can you launch?

Very nice boat. I went to school in La Jolla. Why would someone want to sail by the lee?

Loud music and NO sound of the water. Why don;t the boats play radio, TV or loud music? You are taking pictures of boats but totally missing the experience of sailing!

    Beautiful boat!
I've been looking at different type of skiffs/dories for fishing offshore.
How does this skiff perform in 2-3ft tight waves? I realize it wouldn't be too
much fun, but does the boat feel safe?
I've never fished aboard a sailboat... have you found any real downsides?
    Thanks!

Two to three foot spaced ocean swell is no problem. Tight waves can be a bit bumpy, but I have never felt unsafe offshore. I rigged my boat for trolling, which I've done a couple of times, but mostly we bay fish, either at anchor, or drifting and moving around with the oars. The back of the boat is very stable to stand in, and makes a great place to cast from. TO get a feel for sailing this boat offshore, watch this one: GIS good wind and small ocean waves
