Flax to Linen

From breaking to scutching to hackling, follow some of the arduous processes of turning flax into fibers for spinning, as demonstrated by members of Col. Bailey's 2nd Massachusetts Regiment Scott Sminkey and Michael Vere. The flax was grown in the heirloom gardens at Alden House Historic Site.
