Yes, EVERYONE wants to listen to Dimash. Dimash was the “Dark Horse” in this competition. He was also the youngest. His competitors were so impressed with him. He only came in second, because the rules at the time did not allow a Non Chinese person to win. Now that has changed. Dimash would have won the competition with that new rule. This is for people that are working toward being professionals in their field, they are not just nobodies, so it's a leap ahead than shows we are used too, and they also use very good professional instrmentslists and conductors. Dimash was asked as an experiment, as - although award-winning - he was previously completely unknown in China. Btw, I was told the eventual winner of the contest - Sandy Lam - has the status of a Barbra Streisand in China.
