Mir was launched and operated by Soviet Union and later Russia from 1986 to 2001. At the time it was the largest space station out there only surpassed by International Space Station launched a decade later in 1998.
I give my applauds to Mir before any other space stations.

    Thankyou DW❗
Nowadays we live in an era of cheap "viral" videos which is nonsense but garner millions of views.
So viewing high quality documentaries which are made with considerable time and effort is praiseworthy.
We also appreciate that these world class documentaries are free of cost , without irritating viewers with hidden subscription fee.
    Keep it up ❗
    High standards of journalism

😢 It may be incredibly expensive, but I think the ISS is worth its full weight in every experiment, contribution and astronaut experience, to be brought down safely to Earth. Or at least a third of it to be placed in the museum of humanity.

@@kovy689 Although recent advances in rocket technology have reduced costs, remodelling and refurb would be time consuming and significantly more expensive, because astronauts would have to work on-site in space, spacewalks are exhausting for the astronaut and crew, you'd need specialty tools for assembly, it would be like assembling a submarine under water. New modules are already being designed, built and tested on Earth already. Materials have advanced, modules are probably going to be more spacious as well.
