- 2016年2月26日札幌円山動物園のボルネオオランウータンに待望の第２子となるハルト（男の子）が生まれました！生後5か月と23日。びっくりです！！ お母さんのレンボーさんがなんとお兄ちゃんのハヤト（6才）に弟の子守をまかせたんです o(*'o'*)oちょっとしつこくしすぎたハヤトお母さんに腕を引っ張られて怒られてしまいました(^^ゞ お兄ちゃんガンバο(*´˘`*)ο

Awwwwwwe. This was really sweet to watch the little brother playing with his infant baby brother. This mama did a great job raising these little ones. She usually wouldn't let the older even touch the baby for more than a few seconds much less let them play like this however she does intervene when play gets too rough. Great video!!!
It is a huge waste of time and resources to save these animals. They have no place to go and the zoo is a cruel and unnatural environment. Thankfully the baby died. It won’t have to suffer in captivity.
I can't believe the little guy died just 2 months later....RIP Haruto. I heard his mother and brother both fell into a deep depression after he died unexpectedly. Apparently, they refused to even go outside for over 2 months, and Renbow only followed 5 year old Hayato out their after he coaxed her for a while. Awful...

No, that was for the best. The mother will get over it and if she does not, it does not matter in the end. They keep these animals in zoos where they just sit around, become bored and become obese. The orangutans are a waste of time and resources at this point and since there is no hope for them to live in the wild, it is pointless to let them reproduce. It is better for the babies to just die because they will eventually live miserable lives in zoos just like their parents.
