ಪೆರವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಜಲಪಾತ ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವ ಬೊಂಬುರು ಎಲಾ, ಉವಾ-ಪರನಾಗಮ ಪ್ರಾಂತೀಯ ಸಭಾ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಗೊಂಡಿರುವ ಜಲಪಾತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು ವೆಲಿಮಾಡ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಿಂದ ಸರಿಸುಮಾರು 15 ಕಿಮೀ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ನುವಾರಾ ಎಲಿಯಾ ಮತ್ತು ಬದುಲ್ಲಾ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳ ಗಡಿಯ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಬೊಂಬುರು ಎಲಾ ಶ್ರೀಲಂಕಾದ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ವಿಶಾಲವಾದ ಜಲಪಾತವಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಲವಾರು ಸಣ್ಣ ಜಲಪಾತಗಳನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಜಲಪಾತದ ಮೂಲವು ಶ್ರೀಲಂಕಾದ ಮಧ್ಯ ಎತ್ತರದ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸರೋವರವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀಳುವ ಸುಂದರ ಜಲಪಾತದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಒಂದು ಅದ್ಭುತ ಕಥೆಯಿದೆ. ಇದು ರಾಜ ರಾಜಸಿಂಗ್ - II ರ ಯುಗದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಒಮ್ಮೆ ತನ್ನ ಸರಪಳಿಯನ್ನು ಮುರಿದು ಕಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆದ ರಾಯಲ್ ಆನೆಯು ಕಾಡಿಗೆ ನುಗ್ಗಿತು. ಯಾವುದೇ ಮಾವುತನು ಕಾಡು ಆನೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಪಳಗಿಸುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದನ್ನು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಿಸುವ ಯಾರಿಗಾದರೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಉಡುಗೊರೆಯಾಗಿ ನೀಡಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ರಾಜನು ಘೋಷಿಸಿದನು.
"ವನಸಿಂಗ್ ಮುತ್ತ" ಎಂಬ ಹಿರಿಯ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು "ಬಿಒ" ಮರದ ಬೇರಿಗೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿದನು. ಇದು ಬೋ ಟ್ರೀಯ ಬೇರಿನ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಜನರು ಗ್ರಾಮವನ್ನು "ಬೋ-ಮೂಲೆ" ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಸಿದರು, ಅದು ನಂತರ "ಬೊಂಬುರೆ" ಆಯಿತು.
ಬೊಂಬೂರು ಜಲಪಾತಕ್ಕೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಲು ಬಂದಾಗ ತೆಂಗಿನಕಾಯಿ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ, ಅಲಕೋಲ ಕರಿ, ಬೇಲಿಮಲ್ ಮುಂತಾದ ರುಚಿಕರವಾದ ಖಾದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸವಿಯಬಹುದು. ಟಿಕೆಟ್ ಬೆಲೆ ರೂ. 50/= (ಒಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗೆ) ನೀವು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು ಆದರೆ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ಪರಿಸರ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯಿಂದಾಗಿ ಸೋಪ್ ಮತ್ತು ಶಾಂಪೂ ಬಳಸುವುದನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ.
ಪಾಲಿಥಿನ್‌ನಂತಹ ಜೈವಿಕ ವಿಘಟನೀಯವಲ್ಲದ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಈ ಪರಿಸರ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗೆ ಎಸೆಯುವುದನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ.
"ಬೊಂಬೂರು ಎಲ್ಲ" ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯಿಂದ ನಮಗೆ ಉಡುಗೊರೆಯಾಗಿ ನೀಡಿದ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದ ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲವಾಗಿದೆ. ಮುಂದಿನ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಅದನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯ.

Bomburu Ella, also known as Perawella Falls, is a waterfall situated in Uva-Paranagama Pradeshiya Sabha area. It is located near the border of Nuwara Eliya and Badulla districts, approximately 15 km from Welimada town. Bomburu Ella is the widest waterfall in Sri Lanka and consists of several small waterfalls grouped together. The source of the falls is a lake located in the central highlands of Sri Lanka.
A wonderful story lies behind the beautiful waterfall that falls down here. It goes back towards the era of the King Rajasinghe - II. Once the royal tusker who had grown wild after breaking it's chain broke into woods. No mahout was capable of catching and taming the wild tusker. The king made the announcement that anyone who could control it would be gifted a large portion of land.
An elderly person called "Wanasinghe Muththa" caught and tied it to a root of a "BO" Tree. Since it was a root of a Bo Tree the people named the village as "Bo-Mule" which later became "Bombure".
When you come to visit Bomburu Falls, you can taste delicious food like coconut roti, alakola curry, belimal, etc. Ticket Price Rs. 50/= ( for one person ) You can also bathe here but avoid using soap and shampoo because of the sensitive ecosystem.
Please avoid dumping non-biodegradable materials like polythene into this ecosystem.
"Bomburu Ella" is a valuable resource gifted to us by nature. It is our duty to protect it for future generations to see.
