Mum with a son would like to show appreciation to you both. To know there are people in the system that believe in rehabilitation and actually did something to make a difference in the lives of people who have had all liberties taken. We need more people like this, and more people in the know speaking up and making a difference to the way people are treated and the reintegration to community that is so difficult. Such a massive gap in service and lack of support. You guys are bridging the gap and I hope you go viral. Much gratitude 🙏
O Sullivan was one of the best screws in the system, respected him a lot when i did quite a few years between acacia and charlotte. The trap would drop, no words, be a plate of BBQ from him he looked after us long termers a lot. A lot of respect for this bloke, fuckin respect you mate.Loved this Podcast Cheers
Big Robbie Crawford how are ya bro? It's johny metropolis here..long time buddy.....wow big Robbie Crawford...OG Of the 501s ....one of the 2.original islander generals. Robbie and Kiki. How u been buddy?
This guy would've been a really good officer in the job for the right reasons. Going in on your days off to help the inmates really says something about his belief & his efforts in rehabilitating the inmates. A terrible shame he was attacked. I imagine there's not many like him in the system. You should interview him again & ask him for different stories & his perspective on rehabilitation. Great interview. ✌🏻
Having been in prison myself and having very little respect or love for the screws, it's nice to hear that there is a good person like Paul who actually cares about the guys in there. What a great bloke
Having been to Port Phillip Prison, I can vouch for these stories. I was in Fishburn, didn't know anyone but I had no dramas. I knew who ran the unit so I showed respect to them, sat where I was allowed to sit, kept to myself, spoke when I was spoken to, etc, etc. It was a great unit with a great bunch of lads. Plenty of shit happened to those who deserved it.
'Identity', can be taken seriously & it's only really a point of view, part of the play. Reminds me of Ram Dass saying - ''I'll pretend you are who you think you are if you'll pretend I am who I think I am.''
He probably is now but don’t be fooled he could’ve got his throat cut for a reason. Being nice at the end of his career makes me wonder how he was in the beginning
I have done several years in Victorian prisons, including Port Phillip aka Port Puetrid and Scarb North. I have to say that there are a few good correction officers, and by that i mean they are respectful to you, treat you like a human bieng, dont judge you and just want to do their job and go home rather than some other gaurds aka screws who literally enjoy the power over you and want to make your life as hard as they can and play with your life and head and are so fkn corrupted that will even try to put a target on ur head over a lie.
I can clearly remember them day when Port Phillip opened after pentridge closed the prison couldn't deal with the old school way .until they put in a officer that had harned his respect ( sput the nickname) before that the place was chaos crazy days
When I went in I was a scared. I survived attempted murder on the street and didn't lag and knew a few people around the place so I was ok but you can't avoid issues with people and the screws there.
Hay brother it's morgz,,I'm so proud of you david and it's about time someone doing this and let me know if you want me on your show,,, keep doing what you doing david I love the show.....

Well done to those who have turned their lives around. Paul , you are so clever. Money is the root of all evil, and I'm sure you get to learn about people and humanity in the role
Mr.O’Sullivan had to take time out of his lunch break & go into work, to do what was the most (if not the only) rehabilitating aspect of a man’s rehabilitation. I’m with Amy Winehouse the whole way, don’t let them tell you it was any type of suicide popularised being utilised to justify.

Great podcast what a legend
Getting blokes and girls to hit pads and do some boxing is so important for people's well being. I have done it a lot for people as a Rehab worker.
